  1. Delaware also has a very odd circus number font. That's my take as for why they're rated low.
  2. If they're not going to the Summit, they have much more to offer any other conference by marketing themselves as travel partners (which is a much better combo than either Sac/NAU or UMKC/SUU).
  3. I wouldn't count out Rutgers to the Big 10 either. They have the academics and the NYC media market. Also, Arkansas has rivalries with LSU (Ark and La are border states) and they had one with Kentucky in bball.
  4. It's not ideal, I'll give you that. But who else can UND try to claim as a travel partner? Conferences aren't going to want to fly all the way out to Grand Forks and only play UND. Again, busing down to Vermillion and then flying home from Sioux City isn't the ideal condition, but it's got a much better chance of being acceptable to a conference than just going out to Granf Forks only for UND. Now obviously if you're talking about the Summit League, then the travel partnets become UND/NDSU and SDSU/USD, which is a whole different ball game.
  5. Nebraska's football program will never have a problem, regardless if they're in a conference or not. They've sold out a bajillion games in a row. It'd be interesting to see if the Big 10 would be interested in grabbing Iowa State, Missouri, or Nebraska (and if any of those would want to go). I could also see something like: Texas Texas AM Texas Tech Texas CU Ok Ok St Ks Ks St Arkansas will never leave the SEC, the money they get is ridicoulous.
  6. I wouldn't count out Colorado going to the Pac10 competely. I think the Pac 10 looked at adding Colorado and Texas at one time. Agreed that the Domino would be huge. Larger than the ACC raid of the Big East.
  7. Actually, UND and USD make the perfect package. UND has better facilities and USD has better geography.
  8. Damn! Another wrestling team bites the dust.
  9. Again, for the same reason, if a school already had an athletics department I highly doubt it would be within the parameters of the students interests and abilities to simply drop athletics. I've seen plenty of schools drop only men's sports and a few drop some women's and then a lot of men' sports at the same time. Most recently, UNH and JMU dropped several sports, mostly men's. I don't recall seeing a school drop sports one-to-one at a single time.
  10. NDSU is not required to start a swimming program just because its students have an interest and ability for swimming. But if we already had a program, I think it would be a losing battle to drop it.
  11. But it's not about scholarships as much as it's about interests and abilities. UND obviously has young women who are interested and able to play softball. I doubt a judge is going to deny them that.
  12. It would make sense to cut baseball (and I wish NDSU would consider this as well). But softball you'd have a hard time getting rid of because of title IX.
  13. Can someone please explain loge seating to me? I never heard of this before looking at Louisville's plan to expand their stadium to 60k. I thought they mispelled lodge. I swear every new arena or stadium design has the word "loge" in it now.
  14. And what is with the Montana State football team? It's like, the team leads the nation in YAC: yards after crime! *ba berrr bernnnnn*
  15. Stop getting people on this board's hopes up. You're just going to piss off a lot of people when the Big Sky refuses to expand east.
  16. I could see it if the NDHSAA added the sport. Maybe one day.
  17. Lacrosse as a varsity sport at UND is nothing more than a message board dream. Literally, someone watched the DI lacrosse championship on TV and said "UND should have lacrosse". It's not at all like it's on the UND AD's radar.
  18. I wouldn't be so sure on that. Both Youngstown and Ill State are looking pretty hard at FBS. IL State has a stadium expansion plan that would increase capacity to over 40k! No way would they stay in FCS at that point. YSU is already a shoe in for the MAC. They just need a few more facility upgrades before they make the plunge. That seems to open the door for UND and USD, IMO.
  19. SCSU is going to the Northern Sun and Omaha is going to the MIAA. I will also add that, as far as basketball goes, UND is eligible for the NCAA tournament after 5 years but it takes 13 years for UND to become a "core" member. Basically, in order for a basketball conference to maintain it's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, they must have 7 core members and 6 core members that have played together for 5 years, the 765 rule if you will. Or something like that. Hammersmith has the exact rules I'm sure.
  20. http://areavoices.com/bisonmedia/?blog=9446 That's as good as you're going to get.
  21. As I thought, he was trying to scare something into happening. Must've got the feedback from admin/boosters he wanted.
  22. I still don't think I'm wrong. I think Lennon is doing this to get people scared and get some things moving. But perhaps he will go as a way to try and get things done.
  23. Kolpack got me to thinking. Indeed, why? It is a lateral move. My conclusion now is that Lennon does not and has never intended to leave UND. He's doing this to generate an "oh s***!" buzz. He wants administration and boosters going "jeez, I guess we better start doing __________".
  24. The skiing is probably better there than in GF.
