  1. I figured he didn't realize that UNO would still have to travel to Alaska and that is what he was chalking up the shorter travel to. He did go to UND, after all.
  2. That ain't saying a whole lot...you obviously didn't stop over to d/t Mpls during the bball tournament weekend. No, of course not, you're one of those bleeding heart hockey fans who hates "bouncy-ball" and hates NDSU so you purposely stayed away.
  3. 1 Money is what it will come down to, of course. You say more money just by joining the WCHA, I say hogwash to that unless you show some caluclations. 2 Yeah shorter travel...to Alaska! *shakes head* 3 Come to the WCHA so you can lose more games! Yeah, that'll help you get in the NCAA tournament... 4 The reason UNO wanted to stay in the CCHA in the first place is that they have many alumns from CCHA schools in town. Fans don't need to travel. You also vastly over estimate the travel parties of schools like St Cloud, Mankato and Duluth. UND, Minnesota, I could see it. Wisco, Denver? Mmm no.
  4. That ain't saying a while lot, the St Paul downtown bar scene is pretty weak.
  5. Obviously I meant to say CCHA. The article says they are negotiating. UNO will fight to get some the WCHA tournament money when the tournament is moved periodically to Omaha.
  6. Well that's the crux of the nego...is it worth anything to UNO to be in the WCHA on face value alone? My centention is that UNO loses nothing by staying in the CCHA. That's certainly the hand they will play and I forsee the WCHA paying dearly if they want UNO that bad.
  7. I'm telling you right now that Omaha holds all the cards. They can rightfully demand some (at least) of the revenue of a WCHA tournament hosted in the Qwest. WCHA might tell them to go pound sand, but then what? UNO loses nothing by staying in the CCHA.
  8. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/243958/ There is now some credibility to the theory that Omaha will apply to the WCHA. I still don't think it's nearly the done deal that some here want it to be. Omaha has all the leverage in the world on this nego...they can basically demand that the WCHA tourny be at the Qwest every other year and there is nothing the WCHA can do about it, except say no to both Omaha in Bemidji, in which case Omaha loses nothing. We'll see...
  9. I honestly don't see either UAF or UNO wanting to leave the CCHA. I see the CCHA staying as is and UAH dropping hockey. Not sure who the WCHA will get to come in with Bemidji...UBC?
  10. I guess still call me skeptical that UNO will switch from the CCHA to the WCHA. Not that I think Fairbanks is a better option.
  11. My point is that all the talk of UNO to the WCHA is jumping the gun since AFAIK they have not even applied to the conference.
  12. When did UNO apply to the WCHA?
  13. TT lost Herrall (sp) and Crabtree. So that is incorrect.
  14. What were the final BCS rankings in 2007? Kansas was as high as #2. 2008 was TT's best year.
  15. Kansas is not far behind TT, if at all. Much improved program.
  16. There's no good reason Fargo and West Fargo shouldn't be one entity. It would eliminate all duplicate overhead. It should be just like Sioux Falls.
  17. Isn't there a pretty big descrepancy between Fargo North and Fargo South, like 300 kids pre class vs. 600 kids per class? I thought the new high school was supposed to even that out.
  18. I don't want to distract the conversation away from demographics too much, but I'm curious if there are going to be family farms left in ND? Or is it all going to be Cargill, Monsanto, etc.? Saw an interesting documentory where Monsanto threatened to sue the state of ND if it refused to allow GMO wheat (of course this movie was back in 04..not sure what's gone on since then). And another point the movie made was that some states, including SD and NE, have made it illegal for any farms other than family farms to exist (might need to be taken with a grain of salt there). Is that true and if so why hasn't ND jumped on that wagon? The point of all this is where Jim points out that perhaps older people are moving into the city. That would make sense to me if the family farms are going extinct. If people aren't out farming, then they have little choice but to move into the city for work/housing.
  19. Ok then, Minnesota was favored to win the game. You could've saved yourself a lot of trouble by just posting the actual numbers.
  20. It would be a lot easier if you just posted the line for that game. My guess is they still had MN up.
  21. How quickly some forget about the ill-fated 1909 Minnesota pie throwing team. 0-54 loss to the Saint Paul Sportsmen, including the record setting 12 "facers" by all-american Clarence "King of Cream" St. Croix.
  22. Brewster has been pulling some very high ranked talent to Minn...and with the new stadium I think the Gophs could be the next Louisville. We'll see I guess.
  23. I have a feeling that the Gophers will look forward to our football game in 2011, esp if Brewster is still the coach.
