Minnesota, Wisconsin, Marquette and Central Michigan know about us.
-
UCSD is on par with Cal and UCLA in terms of academics. The entire UC system is AAU. If they really wanted to invest in facilities, they could probably get membership in the Pac10, but I doubt they want to make that kind of investment. I wonder if SDSU would share the Charger's stadium?
-
It might work if the big schools split away from the NCAA and formed their own division. IE, schools with athletics budgets of 20M or more.
-
I actually don't have a problem saying that NDSU has only 5 official football titles. Our run in the 1980's through the early 1990's is still very significant on its own, even disregarding the rest of NDSU football history.
-
I guess I would call NCAA or NAIA official.
-
I eventually see the big schools breaking away from the NCAA and starting their own association. The catalyst could be trying to force a playoff. It would probably be the PAC 10, Big 10, Big 12, SEC, ACC, the new Big East football conference and Notre Dame. The rest will be left behind in the NCAA. Maybe then the NCAA can consolidate the FCS and FBS into simply "DI Football", with a true playoff, etc.
-
I don't see why the whole DAC10 wouldn't move to DII, other than if the NCAA said no.
-
Have there been lacrosse games in North Dakota period? Like, official ones.
-
Like you already said, Newman is actually one of the nicer stadiums in DI baseball. But..again...it's all about when the games are played. Warm summer night = people will come to the ball park. Dreary, rainy may night = no.
-
I think that would be a bit high for lacrosse attendance. Maybe you're right, who knows? Look, I already said that UND should add lacrosse if you think that's good for the athletic program. Eventually, all 50 states will have it as an official high school sport, it seems. NDSU should probably evaluate the opportunity as well, at least for a women's team to balance out FBS football if it came to that. Also, big schools do pay for baseball games. I know NDSU gets guarantees for games vs. Big 12 teams, anyway. Don't remember the number but it's probably enough to pay for travel at least. I still don't see where you've made a legitimate case for dropping baseball. There's also the (remote) possibility that the NCAA will eventually expand the season deeper into the summer, giving northern teams more legitimate chances for home games to generate revenue.
-
Ok...so you're advocating that UND drop baseball, which will have an auto-bid conference in the Summit, so that you can add lacrosse which will be independent with Denver and Ohio State being the closest opponents. What was that about revenue again?
-
Why not just add a money making sport? You can't be doing any worse than you are now, correct?
-
UND already has baseball. Therefore the DI baseball opportunities for North Dakota baseball players would be decreased by cutting the sport. There is no law against having baseball and lacrosse at the same school. I think all the lacrosse programs you list also have baseball.

What's the deal with no helmet's for women lacrosse? They were these stupid eye goggles and that's it. Can someone say gender inequality lawsuit? If there's one thing I hate more than anything, it's keeping a stupid tradition around just because it's a tradition! That said, if UND wants to add lacrosse, go for it. But don't do it at the expense of baseball. Not that I actually think there's any chance of UND baseball being cut. There's a lot of baseball playing kids in North Dakota that won't get a chance at playing in the minor leagues, but might have a chance to play DI baseball.

There's going to be a shake-up when the Big East splits in 2013. Around that time the moratorum on moving up to FBS will be over as well. I'm looking for some MVFC teams to leave in some form, which opens the door for UND and USD.
-
What was the RPI?
-
Still, lets explore it from the hypothetical that UND has a actual shot of getting into the Big Sky... Does playing both football AND basketball against the following schools really get you pumped up? Idaho State (not a state flagship) Weber State Eastern Washington Portland State Sacramento State Northern Arizona How much longer do you realistically see Montana and Montana State in the Big Sky?
-
How many state high school sports associations sponsor official lacrosse state championships? I know North Dakota doesn't yet.
-
Richfield.
-
I still don't see why some UND fans (and previously NDSU fans) wanted into the Big Sky so badly. It's a league consisting of Montana and Montana State. Regardless, the BSC swiftly rejected NDSU and SDSU, so I have to assume they would do the same for UND.

This is getting off topic... but the Irish chose to come to America. Native Americans were here before any Europeans and were litterally murdered so that their lands could be taken from them. Please. It's nothing even close to the same.
-
The difference is that the Native Americans had already homesteaded North America and the Europeans more or less just said "no..we want it" and murdered those NA who got in their way. That's why NA reservations exist and there are no Irish reservations. Not quite the same.
-
Absolutely! With Summit membership right there and the fact that UND will always be subject to the whim of new Tribal Councils, it is time to drop the Sioux nickname. Also, not to be a prick but, the Summit is a DI conference. That's it. There is no DI-AA outside of football, and even that was changed to "FCS".

I think Rutgers is playing Notre Dame at Giants stadium.
