  1. Pure speculation: Maybe because it's the University of North Dakota, they consider it representing the whole state and therefore require the state's two registered Sioux tribes to agree? Whereas CMU is just Central Michigan, not the U of Mich.
  2. He committed no crime in my book. And it's as simple as this: Chapman would never purposefully do anything to detract from NDSU as a university. Meaning either: 1) someone at the foundation told Chapman to use this money or made it seem as if it was ethical/acceptable/whatever (and now is covering their own a$$ by running to the media) or flat out Chapman didn't take anything that he wasn't supposed to and this money was never budgeted for academic purposes anyway. Either way, he did nothing wrong. And to think, you'd pull Fargo police officers off the street to raid his office for incriminating documents. As if there isn't enough real crime out there to keep them busy. The fact that you and other posters on this board have lunged at Chapman full force like a tiger going after a gazelle, is as comical as it is faux. "Ohhh! The outrage!!!" As if. Just keep in mind that they're coming after UND next. You have your own over-budgeted president's house to deal with. Note that Kelley and Chapman were two good ol' Wyomings boys -- peas from the same pod. Can't wait for all the support for UND's president, though. Your motto should be "Be UND. Be realistic".
  3. Let me put my boots on! Get the shovel quick!! Why are you so desperate to smear NDSU that you would resort to such a desperate and obviously false theory?
  4. Used the media? Oh noes! The poor forum! They couldn't make one phone call to the U of WY to determine if they had offered Chapman a job?
  5. There was no crime committed. You are delusional.
  6. Because it's clearly a non-issue! The only people trying to make something from nothing are the media...who desperately want to sell the public on whatever will net the most advertising revenue, and this board, who desperately want to smear NDSU in any possible way.
  7. Oh noes! Joe Chapman lead NDSU through the DI transition and has grown the university far beyond anyone's expectations or planning! Oh noes! Send the cops immediately!!! What a crime indeed...
  8. CMU ain't no big $$$ university. Only reason they're FBS is because they're in Michigan. They're on par academically with Mankato State, just in a bigger state so they have more students and more money to spend on athletics. I think the loophole they found had something to do with the university being on or near a single Chippewa reservation so they only had to get approval from that tribe, not all the Chippewa in Michigan. Something like that.
  9. Trying to make a mountain out of a mole-hill. Proceed with your witch hunt.
  10. You wouldn't care in the slightest if it was UND's president.
  11. Zero extra scholarships. Zero educational programs. Zero educators saved. Those are the honest answers to your questions. Chapman would never do anything that would detract from the school in any way. I see this as nothing more than paying the man what he's worth and due.
  12. "Way overblowing this" doesn't say it, for this group. You guys are pushing this like he killed someone. Dream on. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
  13. Again, no. You're way overblowing this. Probably on purpose, as some sort of fantasy about destroying NDSU's reputation
  14. I don't really see the big deal here. Not in the slightest. Did he do anything illegal? I would even go so far as to question if it was unethical. Like I said, he was worth every penny and then some.
  15. Not likely. This won't effect donations positively or negatively by any significant amount.
  16. Chapman was worth it. He should get to have private accounts/expenses like that for the leadership/growth he single handily provided for NDSU.
  17. What kind of actions will the new tribal council be taking, now that they are installed? Tribal vote? Then a council vote to support the nickname? Can that get done before Oct 31st? And if the tribe votes yes and the council votes yes, will the SBoHE give a further extension to allow the University to negotiate 30 year contracts with both tribes? Seems like a lot to get done.
  18. Didn't see this brought up: why couldn't the new 6 team BTHC play 25 conference games and 8 NC-games? IE, play the other 5 teams 5 times each (rotate 2away/3home and 3home/2away each year). Then you only need to find 2, 3 4 NC opponents a year depending if you want a home/home or 2home/2home. MN could play the BTHC conf schedule plus a 2home/2home and 2 home/home (3 NC opp a year), rotating between UND, SCSU, MSU, UMD, DU and CC. Wouldn't that save money, esp. playing 25 conf. games in the upper midwest and not having to travel to the west region every year. I would love to see that happen as it would open up the remaining WCHA (UAA, DU, CC, UND, SCSU, MSU, UMD, BSU, UNO) to a future NDSU and possibly Moorhead State hockey team(s). Maybe drop UAA to save money? NDSU - Moorhead DU - CC SCSU - MSU BSU - UND UNO - UMD (not ideal)
  19. I think it has more to do with what TV network(s) the game is on. The NDSU/ISU game was only on a local ISU cable network, so ESPN probably couldn't use any of that for highlights.
  20. Cripes I'm about to lose my vision with all that forehead shine. Lay off the make-up!
  21. Those things didn't help, for sure. All I'm saying is with Roehl we win those games and go to the playoffs. 8-3 gets us in over a 7 win team.
  22. Can you link to the post on BV? My feeling is that there is no supporting link. I don't think NAU would have spent money on new turf if they were going to drop football. Also, if Big Sky expands it will never be to the Dakotas. They are a western/mountain conference. No central time zone schools are getting in, ever.
  23. Summit League bball tourny in Qwest Center? NDSU v UNO final, 18k crowd that would be sweet. Yeah I think UNO would be a great get for the Summit. UND and UNO sounds about right to get to 12 members. UND UNO should be pretty good rivals in the future with the WCHA and now the Summit a possibility. NDSU UND SDSU USD UMKC UNO ORU SUU OU IPFW IUPUI WIU Great travel partners in the "plains" division. Still pretty crappy in the other division, but that's what we got right now. Now I can't help but think of what could've been in the Great West, potentially: Poly Davis SUU NDSU UND SDSU USD UNO Not bad at all. Maybe throw another California school in there to get to 9? San Diego? Sac State? Oh well
  24. Roehl healthy = win both games, in the playoffs guaranteed. Don't know for sure that we'd host, just a guess. Yeah it's an excuse, so what?
