  1. How about all white?
  2. From the "Welcome to the 20th Century" files ... Strib
  3. Can't you just send them outside to play?
  4. I think Goetz is going through the motions to live up to the sprit of the surrender settlement, as well as give the SL and SR folks some political cover when the name finally goes away.
  5. You're right. For some reason the name struck me as Canadian, and there would be no reason to drop the "e".
  6. I tend to agree. From what I recall of Lee's first year, he seemed to have peaked around that time, although he did have some brilliant flashes later and seems to be adjusting to the pros well. LaPointe definitely seems to have some upside at the college level, regardless of his draft position. I see more Roche in LaPointe than Commodore, FWIW. Which is never a bad thing.
  7. "The Empire Strikes Back". Strib Nothing in NG's response that many of us didn't already surmise about the article. IMO Hoeven's letter did more "harm" to NoDak than the original article. I think it made him, and the state, look provincial and thin-skinned, as well as lacking any ability to read beyond the third-grade level.
  8. Oh, thank God. From the thread header, I thought the article was comparing Nebraska's football team the past few years to UND's.
  9. Is he serious? Way to lead with your chin.
  10. I generally don't drink Rusty Nails, except around Easter.
  11. Water? There's no water in scotch! Or anything else in scotch for that matter, including ice.
  12. Well, bye.
  13. Sorry, but beating Michigan and Minnesota (in OT) last spring, after barely making it into the regionals, probably doesn't qualify as a "break", except with bandwagoneering hockey "fans" in Denver who remember CC and DU both actually have teams.
  14. The story wasn't about the "positives". It merely documented a sad chapter in the biography of the state. Frankly, I think more readers of NG would have more curiosity about NoDak after reading about a town of six people than a story about Fargo or Bismarck. As a practical matter, I think the national press, like NG and the NY Times, has a bit of a soft spot for my old state because it is different from the rest of the nation on a number of levels and it does have a unique story. Unfortunately, most NoDaks seem to have such an inferiority complex when the national press covers the state, they automatically get defensive and want coverage to include Fargo, Microsoft (nee: Great Plains), the oil biz, etc. and it makes them look rather silly.
  15. I was somewhat amused by Gov. Hoeven's "defense" of the state. I didn't see anything in the NG piece that most of us didn't already know. Smaller towns are dying as residents die off, move, etc. If anything, I thought NG handled a somewhat painful issue with a great deal of discretion.
  16. Shows how desperate the NHL is to maintain the current roster of teams, even in traditional "non hockey" areas. There were rumors Leipold was either going to sell or move the Preds to KC(?) or some other place, until the tightwads around Nashville/Brentwood stepped up. I actually enjoy going to Preds games. It's kind of fun defining concepts like forechecking, icing, etc. for the natives, and those foam "claws" are amusing.
  17. So, does Howe have any NC$$ eligiblity left?
  18. So far, aside from some of the freshmen, I haven't seen much from this team to really cheer about. Can't sweep at home, coughing up games they should win, lack of leadership, lazy defense, etc. They're starting to look like some of Gino's last teams, and that's not good.
  19. So, there's some sort of competition going on? Maybe you should throw a few more posts out to make a it real horse race ...
  20. You mean this? Linky
  21. Here's a recent photo of some of the protesters.
  22. Good one, sycophant. I'm impressed you could manage a post without the usual quota of typos and awful grammar. If your past posts are any indication, I'm sure with your keen wit and intellect, you can look forward to a rewarding career bobbing for apples in parking lots for $5/pop.
  23. It's not "defamation" if it's the truth. He was arrested, and is now facing a charge. Where's the falsity?
  24. Oh look, I found your favorite magazine.
  25. But, but ... he's just "a kid". Seriously, if he did this crap while still on probation and they revoke it, he needs a kick in the ass.
