  1. No shiat. It looks like he grabbed hair off his head and glued it to his face. Come on, Johnny, shave that mess off!
  2. And this type of "crap" is why I knew the name/logo were doomed if they were held hostage to tribal politics.
  3. More grist for the mill, from the Pac-10. rivals.com
  4. I don't recall there being a hockey arena of any consequence near UT. Texas could add as many hockey teams as it wanted just from its endowment, but they aren't going to do so unless they produce winners. That's really their bottom line. Moreover, I don't see any real benefit for Texas to join the Big10, or any real benefit for Nebraska either. Somehow a Texas-Minnesota football game doesn't have ring as Texas-Oklahoma or an A&M game. Perhaps the Big10 would be better off whoring itself to Notre Dame, and call it a day.
  5. I think the importance of hockey in any B10 expansion, let alone forming a B10 hockey conference, may be overstated. Hockey is a very expensive sport, with a fairly limited appeal. Getting a team like Texas or Nebraska-Lincoln to field two D1 hockey teams solely to move into a new conference probably won't happen. Other sports like LaX may be more palatable strictly from cost, fund raising and fanbase perspectives
  6. I dare Mr. "Cox" to go to United Center and suggest that. And I would hope he enjoys his trip down the Chicago River.
  7. I presume you really mean "nickname opponents".
  8. Don't be so sure. Presuming every cost overrun was approved by someone without authority, there were real uses of funds that may not have been allocated for the projects. So you may have a foundation for fraud based on those change orders or other approvals. If there were transfers of funds between accounts to faciliate the construction, you have have wire and/or mail fraud issues if funds were misallocated. If you have more than one person involved in these projects who were parties to these transactions you may have a "criminal enterprise", and with predicates of fraud you may have a RICO case. The biggest issue may be showing any intent to break the law, since most felonies have an intent element built into them. That said, I do agree that there were/are serious oversight issues involved, even if there are no criminal charges or indictments.
  9. If the 'Hawks win the Cup, may Toews can buy himself a real playoff beard, and get rid of the mutton chops.

  13. Does the term "yellow journalism" mean anything to you? How about "muckraking"? I would have have more respect for the piece of there was actually some input from NAs who felt differently than the "victims" interviewed. God forbid there be a diversity of opinion amongst a given set of people. Moreover, you obviously can't distinguish between the opinion section of the paper, and the news section that should present a story in a more balanced manner. Apparently, neither can Chuck Haga.
  14. *Yawn!* Nice, balanced "piece", Chuck. Next time write an op-ed piece, and dispense with any pretense of journalistic integrity.
  15. Thanks for the pic, Mafia Man. Went up on the fridge yesterday.
  16. And that specter of rescission is precisely why I knew the name/logo were doomed when tribal consent was a prerequisite of the so-called "Settlement". Dealing with the whims of "sovereign" nations, whether Indian tribes or banana republics, is always dicey, and a piss-poor foundation for any agreement. It also helps explain why many businesses, e.g., large banks, insurance companies, etc. are often reluctant to do business in "Indian Country".
  17. I hear ya. I've uttered "Oh God!" or "Goddammit!" many times during Sioux games.
  18. Oh there you go, trotting out the old hypocrisy card again.
  19. This article ties into the original thread subject. NY Times

Just got my new black Reebok jersey. I think I like a bit more than the black Nike Swift I have.

Careful, your "Master's" degree is showing.
  22. Exactly. If you have to explain a name, why bother? I still haven't figured out what the hell a "Wild" is ...
  23. At the end of the day, the new name will probably be some stupid-ass, harmless animal, like a chipmunk or some marketing slogan nobody can figure out ala "The Wild". Screw them, I have enough Sioux gear to wear for the next 200 years. And I will not buy anything with a "replacement" name or logo.
  24. As long as the logo for Rough Riders isn't this ...
