It's probably of little consequence who the state would send. The NC$$ will probably just nod politely and hold up the "settlement" and end the discussion with a "You can keep your name and logo, and we'll put you back on our H&A list just like we promised.". A state level attempt to turn the NC$$ is laughable at best. It would have been nice if the NoDak congressional delegation had thought attenton whoring was as important as Carlson does, and then the NC$$ may come around.

It should be entertaining to watch a "knight in shining armor" run into a buzzsaw of reality ...

Try Ecopolitan on Lyndale(?). I've never been there, but I understand it caters to vegan and natural food crowds.

If the Sioux were on the NC$$'s H&A list, and under sanction, especially going into the FF you might have a chance of getting national media attention. As it is, the legislature's actions are really nothing more than a relatively minor regional issue in flyover country. However, the issue has been on a few newswires the past few weeks like AP.

So, are in you more in love with UND, or the name/logo? And if you pull your head out, and look deeper into this part of the forum, I never supported the NC$$'s actions, or the settlement. However, being a pragmatist, I don't delude myself into thinking there's a chance in hell the NC$$ will not hesitate to put UND back on its "H&A List" in a New York Minute, unlike certain others around here. -

If history is any guide, since the "real Fighting Sioux" ran away from the Ojibwe/Chippewa tribes in northern Minnesota and moved on to the plains, and later allowed themselves to be corralled onto reservations by the US Govt, your "fight to the bitter end" reference is a bit misguided. -

"To a New Yorker like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Tigers." On of my favorite movies. -

Not going to happen. McLeod has already said that any interlocking schedules would involve all WCHA teams, not just the "top tier" like UND, Denver, etc. So we may see them ever other year or so. Moreover, without a conference affiliation, the B10 schools' current dictates regarding schools on the NC$$'s list for "hostile and abusive" names would probably still preclude playing Minnesota and Wisco. And in my mind, a hockey "rivalry" with Denver or UNO isn't even close to what the rivalry with the Golfers and Badgers means. -
I heard on the radio that the Devs expect Parise back and playing toward the end of the season. If that's true "wow", especially with a meniscus repair/rehab.

I was talking about NC$$ tourney dollars only. IIRC the NC$$ gets nothing from the BCS. -

I believe the men's hockey tourney is only behind men's bouncyball in revenue generated for the NC$$. So, I can never fathom why ESPN would broadcast women's bouncyball in prime time ... -

And which of those schools is currently on the NC$$'s shiat list for having "hostile and abusive" names, logos, etc? And which ones only had to get one tribe's consent to use their names and logos? Contrast that with the number of schools, including one on your list, that succumbed to the NC$$'s requirements in some form or another. And here's a fun trivia question, which school removed a feather from its logo to avoid the NC$$ list? -

None of which means anything to "idealistic" academics who probably view college sports as anathema anyway. They make those idiotic policies, and if the teams' gates suffer, it's of little consequence to them. You can find plenty of examples at UND too. -

Your hypothesis might have more crediblity if Minnesota's policy, and other schools' policies of the same nature, was actually designed by the athletic departments, rather than the academic eggheads who don't give a shiat about hockey, or any other sports. The fact the name/logo is already being discussed by a non-existent conference's future members should give some people pause. -

I just threw up in my mouth a bit. At least Bemidji and UNO had established programs, with significant support. I don't see Moorhead "doing a Penn State" with respect to the dollars anytime soon. -

Don't bring logic into this discussion. Where's your outrage? -
Precisely. The B10's hubris is showing again with this move.
-
I tend to agree. The B10 schools have no "loyalty" to their current conferences, or to the game itself. College hockey will be treated like a red-headed stepchild under the B10, and the hockey schools will probably see little benefit from playing each other most of the season. I really doubt the revenues Minnesota and Wisco see from their hockey programs when their "rivals" play in Mariucci and Kohl will be replaced by a host of B!0 games or TV $$$. I can't imagine the B10 will subsidize hockey when the big money sports of football and bouncyball will demand more dollars over time. IMHO, I'd rather UND look after its own interests, and if they mesh with other schools', so much the better. I see no reason to maintain any affiliation with a depleted WCHA.
-
Interesting comments ... Good luck filling Mariucci with Buckeye and Nittany Lion fans, Don. Sure, they'll look at it and vomit from the costs of maintaining two (M & W) D1 hockey programs. And the only TV exposure will be on the B10 network, it's not like FS or ESPN will drop everything for you. " Good point. Strib updated
-
Have no idea. I don't watch bouncyball. However, I believe Wisco and Minnesota, and other B10 schools, have policies about not playing schools with NA names/logos, but I have no idea how well they are enforced, especially if there's money on the table. Like FSU playing Wisco in some bowl, or Minnesota getting invited to be a punching bag for Utah in football.
-
Which also means Minnesota and Wisco, at the very least, probably cannot, or will not, schedule the Sioux in the future if the name/logo remain since the schools will no longer be in the same conference.
-
I tend to agree. And I would echo earlier sentiments about UND joining with other D1 schools in the CCHA and WCHA to establish a new conference or some other arrangement. UND needs to look after its own interests even if it means bailing on the WCHA at some point.
