  1. Well at least the name matches the logo. They both suck. Even my wife texted me and said new logo sucks and she has spent a whole 5 minutes following this process.
  2. In Dan "Common Man" Cole robot voice... "That is the most awesome logo I've ever seen. It is thoughtful and inspiring and we should be happy we got rid of that boring old name and logo." Lame and generic, just like everything else associated with this process. Grade...F Epic fail.
  3. I agree. We need to see more out of Trevor. JJ to replace LJ sounds a bit better to me. I think Simonson, Wilkie and Gersich make for a super deep third line. Just need Nick to come back and it's on like donkey kong! Depth at Forward - Off the charts if Nick is back Depth at Defense - 4 strong returning, should see talent with incoming freshman. We were really spoiled last year! Losing Stecher will have an effect on the teams offensive numbers. Depth at Goaltending - Cam is the man. It will be interesting to see if his numbers stay close with last years. By losing Stecher, Ladue, and Thompson, one can only speculate that we might see a slight drop off in his obscene numbers he put up. is it October yet?
  4. You got one part right. He is an AG school guy. The comment about him being good? Personally, I'm not a fan and feel he is way overrated. Unfortunately the pool of qualified individuals is not that great in this market, hence people seem better than they really are. IMO, there is only one top notch play by play guy in the area. Take a bow Mr. Hennessy!
  5. Basketball is the only show in town during the winter months for the ag school. If you don't put your resources there, were do you put them?
  6. You know what I meant but I will rephrase for you....When it comes to athletics, UND is a hockey school.
  7. Will men's basketball ever be legit at UND? If you say the only thing holding it back is money, I strongly disagree. See the gopher men's BB program. The universitys best chance to win national championships lies with hockey (both men and women) and the football team. Every other programs shot is slim and none, and none left the building when UND went D1. We are a small school with limited resources. When you have limited resources, the best policy is to focus on your best opportunities for success. Is women's hockey a financial drain? Yep, but title IX is the world we live in and helps satisfy the requirements. Overall, UND is a hockey school. The men's hockey program has earned that right. How would it look if we, arguably the top men's hockey program in the country dropped women's hockey?
  8. Why not? Who's had the most success and who realistically has a better chance in future success. Women's hockey is still a relatively new sport. UND is known nationally for what sport? Do I think men's BB needs to be cut? No. But to think women's hockey needs to be cut to save other sports with little attendance and/or little success makes no sense.
  9. I say we cut women's hockey the day we cut men's BB.
  10. I think Toews did OK. In saying that however, he is one out of how many that the timing was right. Zajac and Brock Nelson are two others. Stecher and Ladue are ready to leave. Nick is 50/50. The rest have no business going anywhere.
  11. My guess one left and "leaved". One was as fresh as a Foghat concert and the other butted heads with the other egomaniac (JH). KFGO burned the bridge. Let them choke on this while they cover Dragon Athletics for awhile.
  12. We are all now dumber for having listening to you (not you Sic, the idiots quoted in this piece). I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul. This is one of many reasons why Trump is surprising people with his popularity. He tells left wing loons like this to go blank themselves. It is refreshing for a lot of people to hear someone, with a spine and big balls (not sure about the size of the brain yet) say we don't need to go along with this insanity anymore.
  13. That's a double edge sword. Great to scrap it if you don't need it for the PW boost. Two years ago it was essential to getting into the NC$$'s. Typically I hate it, but what do you do? This year if we play in the third place game, I hope the CBS line sits. Let them know this before they drop the puck Friday for extra incentives!
  14. The point I was trying to make is that the TC treats it like a jamboree and we fans expect and demand a better experience. Crap ice, terrible boards, awful lines, etc. You understood my usage of jamboree, just not the sarcastic tone that it was used.
  15. Target Center will let you know 1 hour before the game. This is a complex logistical detail that will take several more days to sort out. As we speak, Target Center officials are working on testing the point at when water freezes to ensure optimum ice conditions for this weekends NCHC jamboree! As a participating school, we folks supporting UND should applaud their first class efforts for hosting our yearly conference championship. Thanks Target Center.... There isn't anywhere else I would rather watch hockey this coming weekend!
  16. We Sioux fans always bitched about not getting the prime time game at the X as the #1 seed because of the "gopher" rule. I even remember a coach saying it was a joke. Now I guess it is more important in case we lose to be better rested for a third place game. Really? This is a loser mentality! Go big or go home!
  17. So it sounds like the ice will suck again this year! Why would one expect anything else from that dump!
  18. What a joke! The goal Schmaltz scored was one of the best goals I have seen scored by a Sioux player since I can remember.
  19. This is somewhat similar in any area that has large youth hockey programs. It is amazing to see the way youth hockey has changed over the last several decades. To see how youth hockey has changed, come to the Squirt International Tournament in Fargo. At least one team had a chartered bus and showed up a day early to practice in Fargo. Very similar routine that you would see with D1 college hockey. To me it is scary what is being done. That said, as someone who has kids in youth hockey it is something that our whole family loves for multiple reasons.
  20. That was my guess as well. So if that is the case, what's with all the hate towards the womens hockey program in regards to dropping it? If people think that a coach needs to be fired (for right or wrong) reasons that is one thing. But to say we need to bag a program in general because it is a revenue drain to the overall athletic department seems questionable to say the least. Obviously that is why I made the point about dropping basketball. Women hockey is still a relatively new sport. I think with time we will see it grow nationally to more than the 35 (not 8 or 15) teams as the men programs continue to expand. I look to see how hockey will work at ASU as a litmus test for growing the sport. If it takes off we will see more and more teams join from the west.
