  1. Season tickets @ less than $100 per seat???? No wonder they lost $2.3 million last year.
  2. Dumbest thread ever. Comments from a bunch of clowns that never played hockey thinking checking would better women's hockey. I used to post on here a lot, but the constant idiocy drove me away. I came back to see what the village idiots were saying and this is what I find. Glad to see most of you agreeing with gfhockey on this subject. By the way, how do you explain the ever exciting football program losing 2.3 million? What a joke!
  3. Hockey will always be the envy of sports in GF. Football will always have small mans syndrome to hockey at UND.
  4. How many total season tickets sold in total? How much do they cost?
  5. 2 appearances in 15 years, with a program that just started. We can debate if Idalski was the right guy another time, but that fact is, bouncy ball will always just be a cute little program that will be measured by getting into a tournament that will have them be a whipping post to a far superior team. Oh yeah, I forgot..... we get to do that with a 1.4 million audience.
  6. The $160k was probably merchandise revenue sharing and other such dollars. Probably too much benefit given to most programs through this funding source, but a way to soften the blow. I liked seeing the financial statement for WH. Would like to see all sports financial statements as well. If we are going to take shots at one program, I would like to see all programs get the same scrutiny! WH is an easy target because of the lack of ticket revenue, but let's look at all of the other programs to get a true overview. Does anyone know how to find the reports similar to what Port added to his article?
  7. I define Championship level programs as those that have a legitimate chance at winning a national championship. Not winning a Slummit League or a Big Sky league. Does Oregon have a legitimate chance at winning a football championship? Yep Does Gonzaga have a legitimate chance at winning a basketball championship? Yep Does UND honestly have a chance in any sport aside from hockey? Except for the football long shot, none come close! If someone from outside the area asks you about the UND basketball team, and you reply that we are a championship level program because we won the big sky, you get laughed out of the bar. Its not the reason I am disappointed the WH program was cut, but it was the only other sport aside from MH that had a legitimate chance at a national championship. What really bothers me is that it impacts girls hockey into the youth level. Girls hockey is still a relatively new sport. When UND cut the program, it was kind of a slap in the face to all girls that play hockey in the area. While very, very few girls would actually would play for UND, the dream and role models were there for the local kids. What I still don't understand is how Bemidji, St Cloud, and Duluth can make it work, but we can't? The softball team travels much more. Do they have that many less scholarships? Are they coaches paid much less? Could the WH program made cuts to get them in a better position?
  8. Now that's funny! Championship level programs at UND? I can come up with one that I could pass the red face test with. Other than that you would get laughed out of the bar. By the way, we are a hockey school.
  9. How much money does Football, WBB, and MBB make?
  10. Football is a long shot! One NCAA championship in our entire existence. I was there. Problem is all of our programs besides hockey are long shots. Football has the best chance of all of them. After that program, the rest are no shots!
  11. Maybe we should cut women's basketball next! To balance it out get rid of the men's program as well. We will never win a national championship in BB. Get to the dance once a decade. Maybe win one or two NCAA tourney games starting in the same time frame. Sounds like a great level for us. But we can hang a Slummit League banner once in awhile. Oh I forget, we will get that great exposure of getting our butts kicked in front of 1.4 million people.
  12. Besides Men's hockey and football, which is a long shot, woman's hockey is the only sport we had a chance to win a national championship.
  13. Rumor is she is gonna transfer to Minnesota State Mankato and give them the million dollars!
  14. This news was leaked last Wednesday!
  15. Tyson Josts girlfriend played hockey for UND. Not only do we lose WH, we lose Jost!
  16. Now that we finally rid our university of WH, we can finally be competitive in the Slummit League and MVFC. Coaches can be competitively paid so there's no excuses. Can't wait to start hanging banners in the Alerus and the Betty!
  17. You make it sound like certain cuts in academia would be a bad thing for UND.
  18. Funny that small colleges can fund a women's hockey program, but MIGHTY UND cannot. As an alumn, I am embarrassed right now.
  19. They wanted him from UM badly! I heard it straight from the ag school hc.
  20. The AG school coaches wanted him bad and couldn't believe he would chose lowly UND over them.
  21. Touché! However, to be able to choke you have to be a team that is expected to win on a consistent basis. The football team did choke today, but when was the last time this team choked to a reputable team in the playoffs? Never at the FCS level. To me this just means the football team is back on the map!
  22. Tough pill to swallow for the boys. As a program this will only make us stronger. What this team needs to learn now; coaches and players, is how to finish a team you have on the ropes. Brady should have rushed for 50+ yards in the fourth quarter. That is the teams mantra! I believe the coaching staff really didn't know what to do with such a lead midway through the 3rd quarter. This is where I always give credit to the AG. When they get a lead, they really know how to finish. Anyways, next year is another year of Bubbas recruits and added depth. I wouldn't fire anybody, but I would definitely put the heat on coaches to stay true to our identity. That didn't happen today. If anyone told me at the start of the season we would have run the table in conference play and lost in the second round of the playoffs without once getting dominated all season, I would have taken the deal and ran with it. Congrats to Bubba and his crew for taking us from laughing stock to respectability!
