  1. All I have to say is that Steve Downie is nothing but a piece of crap! He doesn't even deserve to play in the NHL, and I hope he gets his ass knocked out silly for his cheapshots. He goes after teammates, he goes after opponents, he plays dirty, cheap and ruthless, yet he is the biggest piece of !@#$! How can the NHL even agree to allow that wussy puss in a first-class league is beyond me!!! Get Downie out of the NHL forever, he is a total disgrace to the best game in the world.
  2. You must not know anything about hockey, or you are just jealous of these standout men. Chorney is one hell of a citizen with great hockey talents!
  3. I absolutely love this post above me, and I couldn't agree more. We Sioux fans talk about being Sioux fans, and when our team loses we absolutely rip into them? That is bandwagon bullsh%*t in my mind. I am sticking with these boys through thick and thin, and I will not lower myself to those kinds of levels. I am super proud of the past four years' accomplishments, and the players are extremely honorable young adults. They aren't perfect, they will make mistakes. We all make mistakes, and we should let it go. You win some and you lose some, it's just a way of life. The earth is still standing, so we'll live to see another day. Oh well, let's move on and get ready for next season.
  4. I agree that Radke deserves to be in the lineup. He takes some penalties, but I really believe he brings a lot of intensity, grit, and a physical presence the Sioux will need in order to win. He also has a lot of experience, going to his 4th Frozen Four appearance. I didn't see Radke's first penalty last night, but his second one was a total bogus call by the ref. Radke isn't the only player who takes penalties on this team, so I don't feel he deserves to be the brunt of criticism. Jones has at times, but he along with Radke and Finley have all cleaned that up. Every team needs to have experienced, gritty players on their roster. A championship team needs to have all the ingredients to win: great goaltending (Lammy), experience (the juniors & seniors), offense (Oshie, Duncan, Kozek & VandeVelde), solid defense (Chorney, Bina, Genoway & Finley). This team just needs to bring their A+ game against BC and either Michigan or Notre Dame, play with intensity and a physical presence, and show up with A+ work ethic. If so, this team can win it all in Denver!
  5. I got a sweet black Nike Swift Sioux replica jersey. Love the jersey, and it's awesome to wear!
  6. Count me in for being there with all you super SiouxSports.com member fans of the best college hockey program in the nation! This weekend marks a hopeful run towards another Frozen Four berth in Denver, and it's time to get it started baby! Let's Go Sioux, kick the 'Cats right back to Durham, N.H.
  7. Yes, congratulations to Kozek for his huge contributions so far. He has a goal in every game we've won this year so far, with the exception of not scoring a goal in our fog-shortened tie @ BC. Pretty impressive start for a player who's been a third- or fourth-liner for two years now. He's bringing some scoring depth to our lineup and providing some other scoring boost besides the usual suspects of Oshie and Duncan. With VandeVelde stepping it up, this team has some offensive talent. If we continue with our solid defensive play and great goaltending, then this team is destined to have a fantastic season! Keep up the great work Kozek!!
  8. I really think the three forward scratches will be Forney, Davidson and Martens with Kozek earning a spot as a regular playing forward. I also think LaPoint will earn the last spot over Marto, but I say both those two defensemen will be very good with more experience and adjusting to the college game. My four healthy scratces are: Martens, Davison, Forney and Marto.
  9. I am definitely game for the pre-game tailgating. I haven't tailgated before a hockey game before, and I'm uber-stoked for the season to start. I'm free all day after 12 noon, so I'm up for anything. Keep details posted here, and I will show up if something concrete happens. Plus, I wanna meet these super Sioux hockey fans, the true die-hards of Sioux hockey that is the best!
  10. Meet The Sioux was on the Tuesday after the exhibition game last year, and I think most years it is on a Tuesday night. Usually starts around 5:30 p.m. with doors opening about 6pm if I recall correctly. I missed the event last year, and I plan to get there this year though.
  11. My predicted standings: 1) UND 2) UMN 3) SCSU 4) MTU 5) CC 6) UW 7) DU 8) MSU 9) UAA 10) UMD
  12. Wow, that is an amazing collection of game dvd's. How could I even choose which ones I want because I would love to have every single one!! Man AZSIOUX, you are an avid and huge fan!!
  13. With Porter graduated, I think the Iron Man is wide open this year. I believe that Radke, Chorney, Lamoureux, Oshie, or Kozek are top candidates to win it this year. A couple of freshman might make a run, but I don't believe they can out do the upperclassmen in such a rigorous competition. But, who cares who wins the Iron Man...let's just get the damned season started now. I can't wait!! Let's get the ball rolling right away, no more second half surges to the Frozen Four. This is our year I say! Finally, let's get over the hump and win the big one baby!!
  14. Two things from my point of view....first off, it wasn't the funniest thing reading that TJ Oshie signed because he really showed up at the prospect camp and enjoyed it immensely. Secondly, it was a little funny after realizing it wasn't actually true. Let's believe he is a man of his words, as is Finley, Duncan and Chorney with the pact they made earlier this summer. You gotta remember, Oshie made this same pact back in high school before his senior year. What happened there? Went undefeated with a second state championship in his three years playing for Warroad. He shows a ton of class and loyalty, and Oshie will always be remembered for that more so then his play on the ice.
  15. I will say this about Lee, he was not the prototypical UND defenseman with big size and physicality to his game but moved the puck well and performed solid for the most part. He had a few lackluster moments in his two years, and he did not develop or perform to the ridiculously high expectations put upon himself with that draft position. Lee was a solid two-year player here at UND, and he will be missed for his experience on the blue line this year. On the flip side, the Sioux have some experience returning in Chorney, Bina, Finley, Jones and Genoway to go with an incoming duo of Marto and LaPoint. If Radke moves back to forward or not, the defense will be a major asset to the team's success next year, and I strongly feel they're going to be great. The offense is still much intact with the loss of only Toews (early depature), Porter (graduation) and Fabian (graduation), and a surplus of incoming freshmen to replace those guys. I think the offense will be just as if not even more explosive as last year because Oshie and Duncan, along with Kozek, Watkins, VandeVelde, Miller, Martens, Kaip and Zajac having more experience. Goaltending will be once again be strong with Lamoureux as a experienced starter now. I'm so excited and pumped for the season, only 94 days away till the drop of the puck!!
  16. I am very excited to see the defensive pairings Hakstol does this year. Chorney and Bina could be a pairing, or Chorney could go with a similar player of Lee's style such as LaPoint maybe. Genoway and Finley could go together with a good mixture there, and Jones will be solid with anyone too. I can't wait for the season to start!
  17. I would agree that Lee was unfairly criticized at times, but I also would say that he has not developed or met expectations of being a high first-round draft pick in 2005. Lee would certainly have benefitted from another year of college for development and maturation, but he's gone to the pros. Best of luck to you Brian, I hope everything works out for the best for you in.
  18. Congratulations to Jonathan Toews, another great honor piling up for this young protege. I can't wait to watch him tear it up in the NHL with Crosby, Malkin, Parise, Potulny, Stafford, and Zajac.
  19. I really hope Lee comes back for his junior year, he will only make the team stronger and more experienced. This should be an exciting season, I am absolutely stokked and super pumped! Let's get #8 now, no more pissing around with the Frozen Four and losing.
  20. That is corerct, Rene Bourque went to Wisconsin...not SCSU. I also can't think of any other Bourque besides Chris who dropped out of BU because of his academics.
  21. I agree, they're all special in there own way. I won't rank from #1 to #7 or whatever, but I will list who I thought was the best defenseman for the entire season. Taylor Chorney, in my opinion was rock solid the best performer night in and night out with Robbie Bina a very close second.
  22. I didn't see the broadcast, but I hope it was an announcement that Brian is staying for another year at UND. We need all the experience back on D for a strong title run next season, and Lee is an important cog in the mix.
  23. Congratulations Jonny, it was awesome watching you at UND for two seasons. Now, bring you're brother David to UND and all will be much better with us fans. Good luck in Chicago, and I can't wait to see you tearing it up in the NHL.
  24. There is no reason to be worried. Oshie, Duncan and Chorney are men of their words, all three will be back in kelly green next season. Should be an exciting one, with the team they will have.
  25. This quote is taken from that "Let's Go DU" blog site, under the comments that are written about the Jason Gregoire situation: https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=17...697637908440661 Donald said... I used to blame Blais when he was at UND for over-recruiting and jerking his players around but obviously Haks was a part of that since the same sort of crap is going on there since Blais left. They've got an ugly track record. Apparently they're pushing ANOTHER goalie (Grieco) out and have booted transfer Shea Hamilton (probably to make room for Gregoire). No wonder the USHL player of the year couldn't cut it there. Thank god Beaverson told them to f$%k off. I honestly don't remember hearing anything about Shea Hamilton being booted out of the program, and I'm not too sure that I've read anywhere that Grieco is being pushed out either.
