  1. Sorry about that, I saw your previous post but failed to reply. Near the top of the page, there is a row of tabs. I see: article | discussion | edit this page | old revisions Above the tabs on the right there are some links. Among them, I see my username (jimdahl). What do you see for tabs / username? Also, you might want to try clearing all cookies with siouxsports.com in them and logging back into the board (if you know how, if not I may have to walk you through it, which varies by browser).
  2. Most message boards have some sort of user reputation feature. We've toyed with it for many years, having allowed the +1's for at least 5 years now. On this board, we've seen problems with people abusing the -1's when we publicize all users' reputations, but just showing who had the most upvoted posts each week has seemed pretty harmless so far. If it proves problematic, we'll adjust again.
  3. If you come in via a search engine they give you the article for free. Let me try... http://lmgtfy.com/?q=name+game+in+search+of+a+new+north+dakota+mascot
  4. Who has the most net positive votes on their posts over the period (default is one week). So, each time someone clicks the green up arrow on your post you get +1, but each time someone clicks the red down arrow you lose 1.
  5. Yeah, it intentionally keeps the draft post because it wants to let you build it from multiple pieces (e.g. maybe you're trying to quote two different posts and add some commentary to each). I don't have a problem deleting everything in the editor by hitting Ctrl-A (to select everything) then hitting delete (or perhaps backspace on a PC) a couple of times. If that doesn't work, you could hit the "Source" button in the upper left of the editor toolbar to see the actual code behind the post and delete all of that, then switch back by hitting Source again.
  6. It's not your fault, it's a little confusing. If you're on the main index page of the site (where you see the list of forums) and click on one of the links of the most recently updated topics, that will take you to the most recently read post. If you're in a forum (where you see a list of topics) and click on one of the topic links, that will take you to the first post in the thread. You instead have to look for the bold/highlighted posts, which are the ones that have new posts since your last visit, and to the left of those will be a bold/highlighted circle or star. Clicking that circle or star takes you to the last one you read.
  7. Ok, still no slashdot-style crowd sourced moderation, but rep points now earn you a temporary place in the sidebar (Come on, up vote me!)
  8. Great, glad you figured it out. I'm not surprised the forum requires Javascript to be enabled, but am a little surprised it's not able to throw some sort of error when it's not.
  9. Good point, the link does have to be on its own line.
  10. Working for me now.
  11. Fixed. The URL format for jumping into the first unread post changed a little bit.
  12. Yep, I see that. I'll see if I can get it working against the forum's new authentication scheme. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  13. Click "insert other media" in the lower right, choose "Insert image from URL", then paste the URL.
  14. If you're on a small screen device and would prefer to zoom/unzoom rather than have it adjust to the size of your screen, click "Themes" at the bottom and change to "SiouxSports (non-responsive)". I personally recommend trying the "new content" center (click the star in the header) for mobile devices instead, but your choice
  15. Right, see the image in this post. If you're in a forum looking at the list of threads (topics) in that forum, and threads that have a new post in them will also have a solid dot or star next to it. You click that to go to where you left off. It's a little weird, but that's actually the way it was before, too.
  16. Fixed. Now lets you make multiple posts in a row (like the old behavior).
  17. no I saw that it let you do that, I'll look into it.
  18. I just remembered that you said above that you're on a tablet, so your issue is that the most recent post is getting cut for that smaller screen size. I can look into that. Meanwhile, on mobile I especially recommend trying out the new content star in the top navigation bar. I should be able to add that next time I'm in front of a computer.
  19. I'm not sure what you mean. My recollection is that on the index page, the line for each forum showed the title of the one thread that had the most recent post, just like it does now. So, you can quick jump to the new posts in that thread with a single click, or click the forum title to see the list of threads from that forum. A couple other things that you might find helpful... In the sidebar, in addition to a list of the most recently started threads (which will appear once the board is done reindexing everything), we were able to add a list of the most recent posts. The new content button at the top brings you to a list of all of the activity on the forum since your last visit. That list can be filtered by forum, or other attributes.
  20. Same as it was in the previous version, threads with unread messages will get a lit up dot next to them. The dot jumps you to the last unread post.
  21. There's a single look, whether you're on a desktop, phone, or tablet. In the past, we've started by making a computer version, and then (in recent years) adding a mobile friendly version for phones, so the two were separate. The design philosophy of this is to assume you're on a small screen but then to take best advantage of however much screen you have available.
  22. That's why I wanted to do it while people were distracted by a new nickname Some of the old posts are still a little funky; it's rebuilding them in the background, but that will take hours so I turned the board back on while it's doing that.
  23. Let's keep the nickname debates out of the football forum, please.
  24. That always flips over on August 1 because I normally have the full schedules by then. Of course, I don't actually have the full schedules yet this year, so that could cause some things to break...
