  1. After the first several games, I thought I saw some soft hands and good moves in Murphy, but he has not progressed the way I thought he would. Might have been the scotch.
  2. Stecher has us all believing. What's his story? His playing history, stats, decommit are all there online, but I'm guessing this kid has some brains and maturity, the way he has figured out how to excel early-on at a position that is difficult to learn at this level.
  3. Even though Pattyn has been playing well overall, those penalties hurt even when we are not scored on. This team is not knee-deep in offensive talent and struggles to score, so burning guys like Grimaldi on the PK has hurt. It's a little like football--you keep the other team's defense on the field long enough and tire them out, things start to go your way eventually. OK, not the best analogy, but these guys will not go far until they can learn to stay out of the box.
  4. They had the greatest coach in Olympic Hockey history--a man who knew enough about college hockey to tell God himself what program to choose.
  5. As I recall they had a guy called Frattin who turned into a beast that year. This team has a lot of talent, but not that kind of power sniper IMO. Still, it is possible for them to improve to contender status. They have played some very good hockey teams this fall.
  6. Does your wife's divorce lawyer read this site?
  7. gfhockey wears figure skates and has a lot of compensating to do, so give him some slack.
  8. They get much worse, they might get 70 shots on goal
  9. SPARKY!!!!
  10. It was an excellent hockey game. UND played extremely well and controlled play for long stretches, something I've never seen them do against Wisconsin. The got out goalied, and UND's goalie had a stellar game herself. There were a few occasions when skaters tried to do too much individually, but they put together a very nice game. This team is much better than last year's IMO. More players have talent, and they are not sitting back to see what the twins will do.
  11. meanwhile the women are playing the kind of hockey we would like to see from the men. The women can play.
  12. How about the clause stating that he goes if he does not pass the ss.com test?
  13. I think what's remarkable about that streak is how a few bounces and some good goaltending can cost team a game on any given night. For them to avoid that for 62 games is just outstanding. It will be good to see these two teams meet again with more on the line.
  14. It's who they lost to that hurts so much, Brian. Just hurts.
  15. Dubber!! Back from your time out?
  16. Gfhockey is on the women's site demanding that Idalsky be fired. He has a poster of Donald Trump on his ceiling so he can . . . you get the picture.
  17. Of course there was, but my point was that when Wisconsin was the dominant team in the country for 4 years, they did not seem to be labeled with the kind of arrogance that was pointed out earlier in this thread.
  18. In a four year stretch beginning in about 2006, Wisconsin won three NC and was second in the fourth.
  19. How are you getting the game, gf?
  20. Wisconsin completely dominated women's hockey for many years up until Minnesota's recent run, but they never seemed quite so evil. Maybe it was Mark Johnson's class.
  21. Arguing that fans who are more patient don't care about winning a NC is a both a red herring and a gross oversimplification. We all want a banner, but to oversimplify the matter and say that Blais has won and therefore we need Blais, or the same for Sandelin, is just knee-jerk frustration. I wouldn't swap Hak for Lucia or Eaves, even they have won one or more, nor for Sandelin. But if Hak does not show he can adjust to the smaller, faster skillset the team has now (and seems to be getting next year), it might be that they have to look for that young, energetic, and innovative coach. That is a difficult task.
  22. I'm concerned that Hak and staff might not make the most of this roster (and next year's), but no way would I take Duluth's last 10 years over UND. Not even close. At this point, I wouldn't take Blais over Hak either.
