  1. The old Mooch had pillars and some poor sight lines too, but a great hockey experience.
  2. Not talking about sightlines. It is not a hockey-specific venue, that is for sure. The third level is worthless, as far as I'm concerned, even on the rail. I'm talking about the overall college hockey experience. I haven't seen nearly as many rinks as most people on this board (or probably you), but I can compare it to Mariucci, the Ralph, and a several others. Wisconsin fans just like to have fun, and it shows. I've gone to games there wearing Sioux colors when I was alone, with my kids, with friends, and with just my wife, and I've never encountered anything but good-natured ribbing. Seriously rude behavior happens, I know, like it does anywhere there are a lot of fans and too much booze, but if you keep your sense of humor, they will too 90% of the time.
  3. Badger fans are really grumbling this year with the attendance issues of recent years and their poor start this year. It's a great venue for college hockey, though, and it is at its best when the Sioux come to town. Badger fans love the UND series. I'm sure the ugly red will be jacked to take the Sioux down and get their season back on track. Can't let that happen.
  4. Thanks, Brian--you guys are right, it was CC. God he was a rock on his skates.
  5. Is that Tony's son?
  6. I wonder if that is the game when Oshie laid that sick check on the Dman catching up to him on the backcheck? That was Tech, I believe. Highlight reel.
  7. Who coaches at EGF?
  8. I have some old school gloves that would give more than enough cuff extension. I'm sure many on this board do.
  9. I like the sound of "Deano's." Sounds more like a good bar--like Judy's.
  10. Finally, a plan with some clarity. Two ties is more than fair.
  11. I didn't explain myself very well. I also am impatient for a banner. But we say a lot about lack of titles but very little about actual coaching. If the lack of titles is the result of coaching mistakes, figure out what those mistakes are and assess whether there is a likely candidate out there who you have reason to believe won't make them. Much tougher task than knowing the difference between 0 and 1 (and I don't mean that as an insult--most of us are in that boat).
  12. One thing Blais did better than any other: Pick successors.
  13. Sicily, if you go back farther.
  14. The boys played a very aggressive PK Friday and not so much Saturday. Not saying they were not working hard, they did keep going hard for disputed pucks on all shifts. Maybe PC changed their PP a little.
  15. For all he brings, he is prone to giveaways
  16. back checking very well tonight
  17. Wonder how PC's speed compares to UM. Sioux can definitely play the up tempo game with these guys.
  18. calling them like Hockey East
  19. The boys sure aren't coasting those last two steps to the puck this weekend.
  20. 4-2 Sioux. If Blais comes to town to coach the game: 5-2
  21. Precognition too, apparently
  22. Our stickwork was great last night, and the boys won puck battles they have been losing. But PC just wiffed on several golden chances. The aggressive forecheck last night set the tone.
  23. If there is such a think as a best loss, I'd pick the back to back OT losses against UW in Madison in January of 2000. I believe the teams were tied for first, and the atmosphere was electric. Sioux lost, but some very exciting hockey, and a great comeback to get the OT on Friday (I think). Strangely, I left both games feeling juiced up instead of heartbroken. Maybe you could sense good things were in store for that team. Sioux waxed the Badgers in the Final Five.
  24. PC also wiffed on several open nets last night, which we can't count on happening again.
