Welcome to parity! TH was talking with someone about parity in college hockey last night. This talking head from ESPN said nowadays many teams are one shift one lucky beak from winning a championship. No team has more talent than others, like before did. ( don't say the Sioux have 15 draft choices either, they are predicted to be good, he was talking the caliper of moving on and making millions type players).
So your pipe dream of winning within 5-6 years is just that, a pipe dream. Thankfully UND doesn't handle their coaches the way some on ss.com wants to! We would be a mess!
Some pretty good observations, big. I think most of us agree that Hak is among the best as a program coach, and many probably agree that he is not up there with the best as a game coach. As a program coach, I dare say he is as good as York, though nobody is as good as York is at game coaching, especially at nut cutting time. I see it a little like wanting to fire a football coach because he is very good but not Bill Belichik or a quarterback because he is very good but not Peyton Manning. I have shown impatience with Hak's game coaching in the past, but he is still young, and I think he will grab the ring for the Sioux yet. Besides, I don't see York wanting to come to UND anytime soon.

They're lucky their schedule has eased up.
They had a very tough first half schedule.

I think the middle school dance is long over. Well at least it is for some of us.
How can you be kicked off the site and come back so many times with different user names?
Just like with middle school dances.

Capone grew up in NYC.
Visiting his dear Aunt, who sang in the church choir. Not the last person around him who sang.
-
You make it sound like he's Al Capone, give it a rest.
Stiffing taxis is gateway theft leading to bigger and better things. For all we know Al Capone got started that way. On his way home from a Hawks game.
-
We know about three infractions, though each, by itself, is relatively minor. Together, they are very troubling, and there is probably a decent chance that other character evidence unrelated to reported events is part of Hak's assessment.
As for pleasing NG, they always do early on. Theft is theft, and $4 looks no different that $1,499 or whatever the felony cutoff is, on the record.

how good is western mich compared to SCSU?
-
The penalty parade continues, having cost them a goal so far. How hard can it be?
-
After the first several games, I thought I saw some soft hands and good moves in Murphy, but he has not progressed the way I thought he would. Might have been the scotch.

Stecher has us all believing. What's his story? His playing history, stats, decommit are all there online, but I'm guessing this kid has some brains and maturity, the way he has figured out how to excel early-on at a position that is difficult to learn at this level.

Even though Pattyn has been playing well overall, those penalties hurt even when we are not scored on. This team is not knee-deep in offensive talent and struggles to score, so burning guys like Grimaldi on the PK has hurt. It's a little like football--you keep the other team's defense on the field long enough and tire them out, things start to go your way eventually. OK, not the best analogy, but these guys will not go far until they can learn to stay out of the box.

So was the bigger upset BU beating the 97 Wolverines in the Frozen 4 or the 98 Michigan squad taking down UND? (disregarding the fact that it was likely MafiaMans fault in 98)
BU beating UMich in '97.
-
They had the greatest coach in Olympic Hockey history--a man who knew enough about college hockey to tell God himself what program to choose.
-
You beat me two it.
Also according to Schloss, the Sioux turned it around turkey day weekend, let go boys! Go Sioux!
As I recall they had a guy called Frattin who turned into a beast that year. This team has a lot of talent, but not that kind of power sniper IMO. Still, it is possible for them to improve to contender status. They have played some very good hockey teams this fall.

No worries, he won't be talking about it for a couple weeks now.
That gusher was a shallow well.

kind of hard to chat when we have a oil leak going on
all is good now though.
just dirivng around making $47 an hour....
Does your wife's divorce lawyer read this site?

gfhockey wears figure skates and has a lot of compensating to do, so give him some slack.
-
Overall another disappointing weekend…this weekend should actually be the season low. This team is getting worse and worse each week.
They get much worse, they might get 70 shots on goal

Does anyone think it matter that Hak didn't play on a winning team at UND? Did he win a championship at any level as a player? Does it matter to have a winner like Eades or not?
Nope. Blais? York?

It was an excellent hockey game. UND played extremely well and controlled play for long stretches, something I've never seen them do against Wisconsin. The got out goalied, and UND's goalie had a stellar game herself.
There were a few occasions when skaters tried to do too much individually, but they put together a very nice game. This team is much better than last year's IMO. More players have talent, and they are not sitting back to see what the twins will do.
-
meanwhile the women are playing the kind of hockey we would like to see from the men. The women can play.

If his base salary is $300,000....then, the buyout for four years is $1,200,000.00. That is without bonuses. I would assume that the clause is in there, but I am also guessing that having a poor season is not a reason in the clause.
How about the clause stating that he goes if he does not pass the ss.com test?

They'll have to console themselves knowing a freakish 10 of the 62 were against the team who snapped it.
At least these teams are willing to face off.
I think what's remarkable about that streak is how a few bounces and some good goaltending can cost team a game on any given night. For them to avoid that for 62 games is just outstanding.
It will be good to see these two teams meet again with more on the line.

And that's a good thing, IMO. I remember when UND would consider Yale a gimme.
