  1. If UND can keep UMD under 10 for the weekend it will be a great weekend.
  2. I do hope the boys get on top of the faceoff game. Special teams are so important in tourney time, and winning faceoffs is critical for PK and PP success.
  3. It's been hard not to notice that, MM. I think there is a term for that in formal logic, when people basically allow themselves to claim that the offensive or disappointing act was not committed by the person or group they favor but by a different version of that person or group. The team that Denver beat on Friday was not our Sioux team but the worst version Sioux team we have seen all season--an aberration. We all do it, I'm sure, when our boys lose, but it seems that the more vested we are in the outcome on a personal happiness level, the more likely we are to do that. Not that that makes any sense, now that I've read it. That wasn't me thinking clearly.
  4. Far and away the most successful team in the modern era is BC, and they have had few NHL draftees. Oh, wait . . .
  5. You need to understand that when candidates for POTUS, idiots that they are, discussed building a wall between the US and Canada, it was not about keeping people IN. The developing world is OK to visit, but fish 'n chips and toffee will only get you so far.
  6. We need to stay focused on the positives. From everything I've heard, that bug in the locker room was not syphilis.
  7. I thought the boys played very well tonight. Nice crisp tape-to-tape passing, tight D, solid in goal. Tim was good on the play by play. The power play is heating up. Scored a goal.
  8. Speaking of Blackhawks, when the ledgies on here get whipped up after a loss, I think maybe they will rise to a panic level of Hawks fans on HFBoards. But then they can never quite get there.
  9. You'd think gfhockey would come back from dead for this.
  10. But willy was not talking about two games, he was talking about a team that cannot play 60 minutes to save their lives. hyperbole on steroids.
  11. They've lost a total of 4 games in mid February and they can't play 60 minutes to save their lives? Funny. Frustrating to lose, but keep your wits about you.
  12. I think they are having to adjust to better opposition. Denver is not the same team they were in GF.
  13. You can do a lot worse than listening to Tim H call Sioux hockey.
  14. Sioux boosters should buy it and donate to the Ralph
  15. I like them both, but what you say about the freshman adjustment period is true, and it makes Boeser's success all the more impressive. He IS having to learn some things in the D zone though, and maybe that will keep him in GF for an extra year.
  16. Seems to happen every year, and I'm sure most teams experience this, with the exposure these kids have to the larger student body and the way they share germs among themselves. Get it out of the way now.
  17. Boy that's a good bunch of forwards.
  18. How times can change in the world of college hockey: Maine, MSU and CC 47-49 in the PW; Q at 1; Harvard, Yale. and Penn St. in top ten; and Minnesota at 22. One thing never changes, of course. The Team Formerly Known as Sioux right there in the top 4.
  19. One shift at a time. Get pucks on the net. Stick to the fundamentals. Control the tempo. Play our game. Leave everything on the ice. Come together as a team. We really have to just go out there and have fun. Don't sweat the small stuff. Whatever will be will be.
  20. In addition to hoping all our guys stay healthy down the stretch, I hope DU and UNO play at their highest level against us and it's a tough race to the finish. It's all about getting ready for the NCAAs at this point.
  21. I've been getting gopher hate counseling for many years. It started with Bill Butters getting into a fight with Sioux fans in the old barn after he got ejected for fighting. For a long time, I was having weekly sessions; then, with realignment, that gradually decreased to the point where I now only go in once a year for a check-up. I miss my hate, and I miss my counselor. I don't know how he got the referral--he has little freezer in his office with a small dead gopher collection. It's the same little dead gophers in there now that were there 4 years ago. I know, because we look at them every time I go in, remembering the days. He is very good because he grew up in Edina and saw firsthand what there is to hate.
  22. If UND joined the big ten, I would be a little worried that our boys would be awestruck going to those great big campuses in big cites. We're talking multiple Olive Gardens in those places. And no Valley Dairy.
