  1. It's not all UND. WMU is big but they can skate. UND without Boeser and Jost is no more talented than WMU.
  2. Agreed. We should be grateful we have players of that caliber and will continue to have them. We have the talent to win this game without Jost, and It will do some of those guys good to know they can.
  3. I hope you are right. Their weakest link appeared to be in net. I just think Cam kept us in the game in the first and we got some long goals last night. I have to say, though, that I think our coaches would be seeing red if our boys let down after getting behind as theirs appeared to do last night.
  4. At the break, the Hawks will have played 6 of the top 13 in the RPI, a handful without Boeser. At this point, we sit at #6. They have disappointed in a few games, including the MSU series, and it will be harder to make up ground with a softer second half schedule, but it's not been too bad a performance so far, considering the talent that left town. There is not a 5-1 difference between UND and WMU, though, so they have to put it together tonight.
  5. When we go after these high draft picks,we know we run the risk of early departure. If it weren't worth the risk we wouldn't take it. If most people were given the option of getting a nattie in exchange for losing him the next year, they'd take the banner without any hesitation whatsoever. Let him do whatever is good for him. In the UND/Brock Boeser deal, there have been no losers, even if he leaves after WJ.
  6. Kind of agree, but boy we got away with some loose defensive play. We did not outplay them 5-1, that's for sure.
  7. Agreed.
  8. Wins are most important, but there are other factors that relate to the interests of the program. First of all, we benefit from the exposure our players get on that stage, Second, players who aspire to getting the big stage are drawn to college programs that will help make that happen. The only conflict of interest I can see is the drafting team's confidence that we will take care of their product. But I suspect the school is really not in complete charge of whether the player will participate in the WJs--only the conditions we will let them play under in intercollegiate play. Sounds a bit like bullshat when I read that back.
  9. Agree with your sentiments, and it's true Sioux fans are lucky in the way you describe. But right now, with Boeser out, this UND lineup is hardly loaded. I like the team, and I like their chances of getting in the tourney and doing some damage, but the lineup is not full of top end talent. But we are only one game off of BU's pace, I think, and that lineup is full of blue chippers. You never know.
  10. What is the strategy behind changing citizenship. Other than Trump.
  11. But as you well know, Wilbur, goalies don't follow the same logic the rest of the world follows. Other planets maybe . . .
  12. Interesting. I didn't realize that.
  13. He's got the ref grabbing on pretty tight--he must like it.
  14. Because, you know, a lot of NYC rumors go through Tioga.
  15. You have to wonder when BU will start to click, with all that talent. Their record is only a game better than UND's.
  16. I think Dave just got leveled with an open ice hit. Hovey's back on the bench while we wait for the trainer to finish with the smelling salts.
  17. I absolutely agree, yser. And yet they could have played that exact same game and if Cam hadn't stood on his head early, we would most likely have lost. That's not a criticism of their play or your comment--just an observation how thin the difference can be between winning and losing, even when the team works hard and plays well. We fans lose sight of that at times.
  18. New Yorkers aren't neutral about anything. If they didn't have a favorite, they hated them both.
  19. And now plaid begins to pour out into the midtown manhattan night.
  20. Dave. A lot of people go quietly about the business of supporting teams other than the local favorite. Some, like you, constantly go out of their way to announce it over and over again just to get attention. Not good attention, but for you it appears even bad attention is something you need. Just enjoy the gophers or the terriers or whatever team or conference you like and want to adopt. Watch tennis if you like. You don't need our approval. This game is too good to use it to fulfill your social development needs.
  21. Cam won that game by keeping them in the game until our boys scored and started getting some possession time.
  22. How do you contact Hennessey by email? His color guy is good, and Hennessey is Hennessey. But this guy HAS to find a way to quit saying "yup yup" while Tim is talking. He does this constantly and talks over Tim a lot too. It's as if he is not aware how radio just doesn't work with two guys talking at once.
  23. I didn't see it, but Hennessey didn't call it that way.
  24. It's OK man, you can't be sleeping much these days.
