  1. ESPN has always done that ... for 40 years. Its a way of bringing NHL fans into the college game. I don't need it, but I hope it adds fans to the college game.
  2. Bowling Green 20-21, Connor Ford as C : 20-10-1 Bowling Green 21-22, no Connor Ford, 15-19-3 If your Captain is a role model, a leader, then letting him go is admitting you made a mistake. That has repercussions for all the rest of the roster. Pivonka's stats have never been great. Just makes me question Jackson's character, and his claims about culture. (And yeah I don't understand bringing in Primeau.)
  3. Your Captain enters the portal ... I can't quite get over that.
  4. Seems like an unusual approach for Sanford, whose strategy has been to buy up clinics and hospitals, often when the seller is distressed / losing money. Starting from scratch, if that's what they do, would be interesting. I also wonder how much Canadian traffic they might expect in a GF location. My last question is about their potential relationship to UND Athletics.
  5. https://vault.si.com/vault/1982/04/05/classic-defense-did-in-the-defender Even then, everyone in hockey recognized UND as a place where Everyone Plays Defense. That cultivation of two-way players helped immensely in getting guys to the NHL back in the days when US college hockey was just starting to earn respect. Several forwards off that team have made their reputation in the pros as defensive specialists, and as coaches of teams that play great two-way hockey. Fabulous legacy for Gino. Thanks bro.
  6. No, and I doubt he'd leave MSU. But he's been really, REALLY good for them this year. But, after their season ends, who knows?
  7. Jake Livingstone! My friends from Mankato might never speak to me again ... but he would be worth it.
  8. Blake > Krog Panzer (both of them) > Krog Hoogsteen (both of them) > Krog But I will concede Jason Krog > Brian Bonin.
  9. Its possible that Gabinet cut his scholarship and/or suggested he leave. But yeah, that's too much turnover on a roster that's otherwise not experiencing a coaching change (like BGSU last year).
  10. Those are some incredible players. I recall watching the 81-82 Sioux and being impressed with Patrick, Ludwig, and about 10 other guys (Troy Murray, Rick Zombo, Gord Sherven, Dave Tippett, Jon Casey, Darren Jensen etc etc). Next up? Knock on wood for all the former UND players: TJ Oshie at 886 games, which would make three guys from that 2005-2006 team. And Brock Nelson, already at 660 games. After that, it may be a while. https://www.hockey-reference.com/amateurs/team.cgi?t=nda01
  11. Indeed. The same could be said about the 2009 Frozen Four: Vermont, Bemidji State, Miami, and Boston U. Three of the Four haven’t been back, and BU hasn’t been to the Frozen Four since 2015.
  12. Its always possible that Ty Glover didn't really like schooling and just wants to play hockey.
  13. Jack LaFontaine will see your one (1) game, and raise you by one (1), to two (2) games in the NHL. With a .780 save pct and a 7.20 GAA, he may not be back.
  14. Minnesota only started to play well after their second best goalie ended pro in the middle of the season.
  15. Gophers with an insurmountable 1-0 lead and only 25 minutes left.
  16. Not yet mentioned ... we will need, very soon I think, some form of NIL compensation for hockey players. And football. And basketball. And volleyball. Its coming, and all too easy to see the big-money big-city schools look to trickle down to hockey which tilts recruiting toward whoever has it.
  17. I almost posted that "MSU with an insurmountable 1-0 lead and only 40 minutes left". But I didn't want to jinx them.
  18. Touchdown Jesus shoots …. And Dryden McKay SAVES!
  19. Great team defense that entire 60 minutes. Congratulations Mavs.
  20. He solved Da Riddle that is Notre Dame.
  21. Their coaches saw something, and the forecheck is working so far.
  22. Great teams , I think, can do both. But a heavy forecheck only works with great team chemistry and a speed advantage over an opponent you think is vulnerable. Trap is low risk and can be done with average talent.
  23. Period one was not a penalty. Called only because guy was injured. Period two was a penalty. Bit dangerous by Aamodt. imo
  24. I’m loving MSU coming heavy and fast with a forecheck in period two. Catching the ND by surprise.
  25. I think if Quinnipiac played in the NCHC, the much-acclaimed Yaniv Perets would have a GAA around 4.
