Lammy denies the Beavers on a nice chance.

Switch channels on the next sioux PP, will ya?

DU pulls their sieve, 1:30 left in Mpls 5-4 Rodents still
-
I think you are really Jeff Bredahl in disguise.
-
Like the long possession shifts by the Kaip-Radke line. Keep it up and they will have worn out the Beavers by the end of the night. Only good stuff can happen from that. I'll go out on a limb and predict a good second period for the Sioux tonight.

Don't be surprised if TJ wanted to see Toews get the credit.
-
Gopher's OBrien with a forearm shiver to DU goalie Fisher's throat, finishing his check, very deliberately and with intent to injure. It should be a multi-game suspension, a very dangerous play. The game in Mpls could get really ugly before its over. Or maybe I'm just rooting for a bunch of game DQ's.

Personally, I think that UND should buy the nickname Beavers from Bemidji State. That way ALL our game threads could be enriched by the innuendo that enriched tonight's thread. (Besides, on game nights, the REA is pretty much beaver central anyway.)

Love the "LETS GO SIOUX!" chant at road games.

What's your point?

"Toews wins the draw" If I had a nickel for every time I heard that ...

I thought it was a cool interview. I agree with you that he tended to give long, off-topic responses to basic questions, but I'm willing to listen to anyone who played goalie without a mask for UND, coached the Sioux, and won a slew of D-2 national championships coaching the Beavers.

BSU player being interviewed - "North Dakota is our biggest series of the year ..." The Arrogant Ones won't believe it.

Win or lose, Fighting Sioux fans will have a post game party.

Agree entirely with what's said above. One OTHER thing that should be addressed is the "fall down" phenomenon, whereby good checks become penalties if the other guy falls down, where a hook is only a hook if the other guy falls down, where its only interference if the other guy falls down, etc ad nauseum. By calling bogus penalties on good hard body checks, we lose another important aspect of real hockey.

Compared to Friday, we did a much better job clearing out the traffic in front of Phil, only a couple times were there guys camped out whacking at rebounds. Some of that was good coverage in front, but mostly we had better pressure in our defensive zone, and didn't let UAA get set up with traffic in front of Phil. Lamoureaux with a couple great saves while the outcome was in doubt, include two quick in succession right after our 3rd goal. He was sharp, and [knock on wood] looks healthy. The other big deal tonight was the PK. 7 powerplays, 5 shots, no goals. (We do need to take fewer silly penalties ....) Very good signs for the upcoming stretch run, including the feistiness. When we play physically, we play well. (Or maybe when we're playing well, we play physically.) Either way, that edge is what was missing the first 15 games. Good to see it coming out.

I thought Toews played really f^%$ing good. But seriously, that line could just as well have had 6 goals, for all the great chances. Not only is TJ snake-bit to a ridiculous degree, the whole team continues to be snakebited. On UAA's first goal, Genoway is half-step behind his guy, he takes a golf whack at it and it goes in. On their second goal, Porter should just have hauled the guy down - - UAA could have gone 30 minutes on the powerplay tonight and not scored (watch them get 3 on the pp tomorrow). On the third goal, its Lamoureaux save, Lammy save, Lammy save, goal. Lee covers a guy that Chorney was checking, someone's open, and bam four whacks later its in the net. Very frustrating to watch, again. The worst part is we played a da#$ good game. We played with fire, I can remember many nice body checks - from the shortest guy Duncan on his first shift, to big Joe. Kaip-Fabian-Radke were terrific in wearing out UAA's defense. Hit, pokecheck, hit, pokecheck, hit. In one sequence where UAA was on the breakout all three guys hit three different puck carriers within a 5 second span. It was great. Love it. Porter-Watkins were very good on the PK, but Porter and Miller were on the ice for all three UAA goals. (Watkins for two.) Porter with a great check on the showboat goalie (Lawson wears #52, he must have always wanted to be a linebacker) Vandevelde laid out a guy behind the UAA net with a nice hit. Chorney was excellent tonight, including a nice diving pokecheck to stifle a breakaway chance. The radio guys had Lammy as #2 star, with several terrific saves, and I think he deserved it. No bad goals tonight, and some very good saves. ===================================== For tomorrow, look to see some fresh legs in the lineup. I hope Kaip-Radke-Fabian start again, they earned it. I wouldn't mind seeing Miller go onto the line with Toews and Duncan as a way to maybe get things jump started. We need a win tomorrow, or the odds of making the NCAA's just keep getting longer. ... time is running out.

I'm just hoping he stays under control.
-
Its a baseball thread, since Brad Radke is having another good game for the Sioux tonight. Still 2-1.
-
Wild going to shootout. [insert Toews reference here]

Will you settle for 1-0?
