Fighting Sioux "Fan Plan" for Final Five Poster Scam
farce poobah replied to BismarckFan's topic in Men's Hockey
So, to summarize, someone from SS.com is going to create posters that mess up the UM-TC label and hand them out. Is that what this poster scam is about? -
Chris Porter close to becoming WCHA's all-time ironman
farce poobah replied to Sioux18's topic in Men's Hockey
This is a very, VERY underrated achievement. Not to miss a single game in a four-year career is remarkable, particularly given that Chris plays a physical style of game. Plus a really SWEET skating stride that might just get him into the show. Keep it up, Chris. We need you for another 12-14 games. -
Lead the WCHA in scoring, keep your nose clean and you have to get some consideration ...

Hey RW, I just didn't think 10-17-21 were consistently good, especially compared to how well they've played the last 6 weeks. I agree that Kaip and Fabian aren't afraid to crash the net, and that's how they got the goal (plus Bina got the puck through a lot of traffic to Johnson). They spent much of the night out there against the Raymond line, and that may be much of the explanation, as that line was clearly UMD's best.
-
Yeah, I suppose the Gophers will be the beneficiaries of the Campion Rules.
-
It's easier to tell in person who's not playing than on the radio or TV With the early powerplays, we were 10 minutes into the game before Zajac, Foyt and Radke got a shift. On UMD's second goal, the goal scorer looked to be Zajac's assignment. He was just a half-step slow, but that was enough for Sharp to get off the quick shot. Have to be tougher in front of our net. Genoway had a tough night, but I give him credit for battling - UMD has some big guys and he stuck his nose in there. So, will take a guess about who Hak was referring to - Zajac, Miller. I agree with earlier comments that Miller had an off night. ============================= Just to get ON a soapbox here for a second, UMD has 10 guys drafted by the NHL. Their top guys are big strong and agile. Niskanen was outstanding, he got a body on the DOT line and shut the rush down at the blue line very well (best I've seen), forcing them to dump and chase - rather than wheel and deal with the puck. UMD is in last place because of some soft goaltending, lack of team play at times, but not because of lack of talent. I would love to see them get a rip at the golden ones in the 1st round WCHA, because I think they could win. Safe to say, I think UMD might be the best 10th place team in the WCHA ever. ============================= As to tonight, I think we see some line shuffling. I think we see Porter-Watkins-Radke. We need more consistent effort from Fabian-Kaip-Kozek. I also wouldn't be surprised to see some D-pair shuffling. Maybe somebody else skates with Chorney - who had another monster game last night. And Phil will probably need to be good again. He's proving to be every bit as good as we hoped he would be down the stretch. ============================== Win tonight - and a CC loss - puts us tied for 4th, one back of DU for 3rd. Lose tonight, and a UW win, and we're sniffing their butts and in danger of falling to 7th or even 8th. Gut check time. What are we made of? What legacy do these guys want to leave?

I was encouraging the wise and savvy folks at FSNN to "check the ratings". I confess to not having those facts, but nobody ever said that was a requirement for posting on a message board.
-
Johnny!!! definitely put some sweeeet goals in the net last weekend. Twice he turned Mankato D into traffic cones and his wrister for Saturday's 4th goal was an outstanding find-the-itty-bitty-corner shot. (I sit behind that net and the shot basically went along my line of sight right into the goal, so it was cool to see him find the spot and put the puck perfectly there. He's playing very well right now. (Have FUN!)
-
Why? Because their fan base is obsessed with Sioux Sports!! Not to mention, check the ratings for Sioux-Gophers and compare to their other broadcasts ....
-
Well. There's a shocker.
-
Agree. Always reassuring to share an opinion with the Arena Reporter. Definitely,MSU needed to take the Sioux off our game, and it worked. A bit off topic for this thread, but think about how much worse things would have been with Kaip out - not overstating to say that his presence may have been the difference between a tie and a loss.
-
Unnamed sources indicate it went for $700. Count me among Lee's fans. Last night, I think we saw what his absence would mean to the team.
-
If I were an NHL team, I'd want him on my bench just for special teams play. Spot shift during the 5x5 banging, but on the PK and PP, I can see him being very effective.
-
I think we should blame Lee. OK, seriously, we missed him more than Mankato missed any of their thugs. Lee logs a TON of ice time, nearly all of it against the other team's top players, powerplay, PK. I think that last two minutes plays out differently with Lee on the ice. I'm more than a little puzzled by a lot of what happened in the last 2 minutes, including line choices and that we didn't use our timeout so that Oshie-Toews could get a breather while killing off the last :30. Probably what happened is that Hakstol realized that our PWR is helped by keeping MSU in the top 25, so we gave them one point on purpose. Yeah, that's it. ...
-
I'd really like the Sioux to sneak into 3rd place WCHA, so I guess I'm rooting for Tech. Besides I hate DU.
-
ARGH! Denver scores on a shot from center ice to tie Tech 4-4. 3 minutes left in Houghton.
-
The only scenario that worries me about tonight is if the Mantankos decide to try to get our best players ejected before they score 8 goals, (rather than after they score 8 goals). Otherwise if we put in the effort, we'll win. PS, I agree that Radke is the most likely to open the can of whoopa^^ tonight. Friday, he jumped in to defend Chorney after an uncalled slash/trip...

It started with a fairly innocent play in front of Walski, but a couple cross-checks later everyone paired off. I am still amazed that Jones managed to not get DQ'ed. -

Jackson: "Your goalie is NCAA - no class at all." Jutting: "We keep giving him a goalie glove but he keeps going out there with a boxing glove." Jackson: "Well, THAT explains the save percentage. You sure are a good coach." Jutting: "Oh yeah? Well, I'll see you down in the tunnel after the game." Jackson: "Your last chance, what with Blais coaching your team next year." -

I would be interested if anyone heard what was said between coaches near the end of the fight. Hak looked peeved, and I saw Jutting leaning over the partition to yell at the Sioux bench. Anyone else see that or hear anything?
