Point taken. My compliments on THIS site, which is terrific. I know its a labor of love, but I also don't say thanks! often enough. THANKS. PS if ss.com ever passes the hat to cover costs, I'm in.

THIS MY DISTILLED VERSION: Interview: "What the heck is going on out there?" Hill: "It's the players fault. I'm a good coach." Interviewer: "Huh?" Hill: "We're in great shape, we have great talent, but we have no heart."

A healthy Forney is not just top 2 line player for UND, he's potential all-conference material.

I used to think it was a given that Duncan would stay four years - I'm not as certain of that anymore. To your point, he is phenomenal. Last night, he triggered two other goals that he didn't get points on, and with all the chances, could just as well had 5-6 points. Also love his work on the PK. Would encourage people to just watch him in isolation sometime - he's always in the right spot, and reads plays really well... I like his defense nearly as much as his offense.

Sioux/Minnesota St Friday game Thread
farce poobah replied to JESUS,family, rutgers's topic in Men's Hockey
This is a series that holds NO surprises for either team: 1) Tempo - if we skate, we'll kick their butts. For 50 minutes, we skated really REALLY well. It was men against boys. 2) Body - we hit pretty well. Only a couple big clean shots - KAIP!! - but they rattled the Mavs. They can't hit with us (exception of a couple guys). 3) Mankato will run the goalie - they do it every game. Effin cheap shots. I was pissed that Bruess only got a Misconduct instead of a DQ. We'll see how much class Jutting has based on whether he sends Bruess out tomorrow. 4) Lammy with not a lot of pressure, but a couple terrific saves, including one late in the first right after Radke's goal. 5) DOT line - I agree with AZSioux (and said the same thing at the game) could have had 8 goals tonight. I'm okay if they save some for tomorrow. 6) Powerplay - it was huge that we scored 5x3 early - it really made MSU back off on the hooking and slashing. The best way to get them to stop is to make them pay. ====================== Last and not least, with 3 upsets in the WCHA tonight, if that continues we move up to #2 seed, and we'd play Tech (#6) in the Friday afternoon game. Would that be cool or what? Come on Sioux, let's end some Goonish careers tomorrow night. -
Chris Porter close to becoming WCHA's all-time ironman
farce poobah replied to Sioux18's topic in Men's Hockey
Breaking the WCHA record on Saturday at the Final Five would be a terrific way to set the mark. Getting four more games after then is what would really make people happy. -
Ten things to watch for - Game 1: 1) Tempo. Mankato doesn't have the wheels to keep up with us. 2) Taking the body. When we're into it, we're taking the body, finishing checks, slowing down the opponent and forcing mistakes. 3) The Porter - Vande Velde chemistry. They seem to be clicking lately; if VV can keep up with CP's awesome skating they'll be hard to contain. I'm optimistic they get some points. 4) The Bina three-hopper. Will he unleash it on Mankato goalies? or save it for Frazee at the Final Five? 5) Will the warm weather mess up the ice at the Ralph? 6) Will the Sioux have all dyed their hair green? (OK, I know the answer to that one.) 7) Who gets sent out to contain the Morin line, their primary scoring threat 5x5? Fabian/Kaip/Kozek? 8) If we get up on Mankato early, how will both teams react? 9) How will the Sioux react when Mankato runs Lammy, which happens every time we play them? 10) Which gets the louder cheer - UAA over MN? Sioux WBB over Moorhead?

The New Hampshire win hurts our odds of getting a #1 if we can run the table, but the BU loss improves our odds of getting a #2 if we don't. I think our odds of making it to the FF are much better if we're a #2 seed... vs a #3.

If its a game that the Sioux are not playing in, I'm willing to wear my Holy Cross jersey. I'll be there for most if not all the games.

Jason Blake with a goal tonight, and for the moment is TENTH (#10, numero diez) in the NHL in goal scoring. WOW. Just wow.

I have a really great idea. Let's shorten the season and get rid of all this stupid playoff stuff. Instead, let's have a great big poll, and pick two teams to play one game in early May, two months after the season is over. Winner gets to say they are national champs. I love polls.

Since Christmas: EJ has zero points playing 5x5. Yes, that's zero points. (5 total points, 4 powerplay and one assist 4x4) (Source: USCHO)
-
Agree, although I note we only beat Metro by 3 early this year.
-
No surprises there. Including that the games will be played in Grand Forks. Kearney with a bit of extra incentive, with the Elite Eight in Nebraska this year, but they seem unlikely to come out of that half of the bracket. Here's wishing the Sioux Women a great weekend of BB.
-
Reinforcing AZ's point above: Toews led the WCHA in assists per game. Also second in pts/game behind only Duncan.
-
David Hale, in OT at the Ralph ?
-
dang - why does everything in the WCHA come down to the last second of the last game?
-
The goalie that played, Wesolosky, is a rookie. They rested their senior all-american for the playoffs. I can't be critical of that. UND has done that before (think back to Goehring ...) and it paid off in 2000. I just think we were all over them, skating wise, and don't think SCSU bagged it. I'm willing to give the credit to the SIoux for playing well.

that was this season?

I just LOVE that annoying song that plays after a CC goal. 5-2

3-1 CC, early in the second

...who just got pounded by Mankato, our next opponent, apparently.
