I'm sorry - you are right - I don't know the 06 class is weak. I also don't know where the 50+ goals are going to come from that we lost from last year's team. I also don't know where the big, shutdown defenseman you play against the other teams #1 line is. I also don't know where the tough as nails senior leader is. You are right - I just don't know.

Put it this way - would you trade the play of any freshman this year for the player's we lost last year? Of course you wouldn't. Every year, an elite college hockey team will be losing players and better be ready to replace them with more elite players - if that doesn't happen the team will not be as good. I don't see why this is so complicated - and why we can't admit the 06 class is one of the weakest UND has brought in recent years. The next 2 years look better - and they have to be.

The main point is that, because we don't know how long the blue chipper's are going to stay, we need to bring some in EVERY year - we did not in 06 and it shows.

We did not lose role players from last year's team (save Perpich) - all the rest left early to play AHL/NHL/Europe - which means we lost skill/talent that we did not replace with the 06 class. Because we bring in so many high end players that will leave early, we can't afford to miss a year. This class is probably in the middle of the pack in the league, which is where we will probably end up at the end of the season.

Let's face it - this team lost a lot of talent/character from last year (stafford, zajac, smaby, spirko, perpich, parise) and reloaded with a very weak recruiting class. We aren't as good as last year's team - and last year we were only 16-12 in the league. I sure hope we recruit better in 07 and 08

What are you smoking - Choney is playing the best of any D right now - he's the quickest, smartest with the puck and plays his position. His only minus is his size, but he is still willing to be physical when needed. Chorney will be playing in the show before Radke, no doubt about it.

Can we also all agree the 06 recruiting class is way below UND's traditional standards?

I'm sure the teams do have some say on dates - MN obviously requests some Sunday afternoon home games - most teams also schedule around final exams as well.

Too much Major Jr playing time in Canada

It's interesting to look at UMinn's schedule over the same time period. They play at MTech on 12/8-9, host their own tournament vs. Ala-Hunstville/Ferris/UMass on 12/29-30 and have a away/home series with Mankato on 1/5-7. It looks like they set up a good schedule around the WJT - should we be doing the same?

Fellow Sioux Fans -- Calm Down re: Gophers must play on Friday night at the Final 5 for TV ratings. Don't you realize that when the Sioux play in the afternoon semi-final game on Friday, they get 8+ hours more rest than the Gophers for the title game, if the Gophers actually win. Why it may hurt our feelings the Gophers get all the TV attention, it's a better situation for the team to play Fri afternoon than Fri evening.

What are your thoughts on BC playing North Dakota in the Frozen Four for the third time in the last 6 years, twice in the final? Chris Collins: We were talking about that as a team yesterday. It seems like if we want a chance at the National Championship, it has to go through North Dakota. They are a storied program and they must feel the same way we do. No team is as cheap/dirty as Mich, with Wisc a close second. Jack Johnson will be in the box more than Matt Greene was last year. As for MN, we can force their overrated D to take penalties if we go hard with our forecheck and force them to reach/hook/slash/hold.

Go to College Hockey News and play with "You are the Committe" You are the Committee If the Sioux win the F5 and Mich. State and Harvard stumble, I think UND can get to #5 seed overall. If the Sioux could get a #5-6 overall seed, bracket integrity would force MN to another region, and perhaps send Miami to GF. Nice.
