I suppose since I'm the one who started this thread...... This summer sucks! It is so much harder to find a job in GF than it was in Fargo! I started and quit at the Super 8 and Days Inn (kinda qualified as one job, most front desk people worked at both places) within a month (I worked overnights). I took up a paper route after that, which lasted 2 days before I quit. Let me tell you, it takes a very special person to work overnights or to get up at 3 am every day to deliver newspapers, and I am definitely NOT that person! So now I've just been keeping with my job at the Union (my lowest paying job, but one that works with my schedule, and I like the people I work with). School wise... Well the classes are easy in the summer, however the Registrar's office and the Business office need to be a little more efficient. At the beginning of the summer I was dropped from my classes after I added them. I however did not receive notice of this until just a week or two ago. And I now have to go get signatures from my advisor, instructors, and deans in order to enroll for the classes that I've already taken so I can get a grade for them and not waste the summer tuition that I paid. Anyways, I'll quit my moanin and groanin now. NDFAN, wishing you a speedy recovery and have fun with your new little one! I hope everyone's summer is going better than mine!

There was an article (a really long AP one actually, took up most of the front and back pages) about this in the Forum about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It was from a reporter somewhere in Texas, and they interviewed families in which children had died in this way. Reading that article made me think that it really could happen to anyone, and everyone should be more careful. Definitely a very sad situation!

There's Addictions... and Dead Rockstar... but those are both in Fargo. I don't really know of any places around here.
-
Haha Bethlyn, I LOVE YOU!!!
-
Just seeing how everyone's summer is going so far.... What's everyone been up to? Has it been an exciting summer? Got any fun up-coming plans? Just a place to chat and catch up with fellow SSers during the off season
-
Yeah that'd be fun, I'd go scope them out... I really do miss watching hockey!!
-
Oh geez, I didn't even think of that!! Thanks Sicatoka lol
-
Oh geez, I'm not Bethlyn Although I do give her props, cuz those videos were pretty funny haha
-
I had this same exact thought yesterday!! I needed a hockey fix so bad that I watched Miracle lol... Speaking of, does anyone have the real version of the USA/Russia game by any chance? I would really love to see the full game since I wasn't alive back then haha

Unbelieveable: Forum editorializes against Va Teacher
Sioux_Yeah_Yeah replied to star2city's topic in Community
Everyone I've talked to HAS read the Herald. I read the Herald every day at work, takes me all of like 10 mins. I then go online (and so do my friends) to read the Forum's articles, which are basically about the same stuff with a little more information. And yeah I am from Fargo, proud to say it too.... -
Hey guys, just wondering if I could get some help from yall.... I'm doing a speech on the hockey program here, which includes the women's team obviously. Anyone know where I can get some NON-INTERNET sources for info on the history and different things for the women's hockey program?? Thanks!

Alrite, so I have a question. I filled out the thing online for this a few months ago, like right after we got back from STL. Back then, I was living in the dorms so I think I put my dorm address on the form. Just wondering if they are they going to be mailing something out to either the people that get selected or to everyone who signed up. Because if they are, I'm going to have to figure out how I'm going to get my mail when I don't live in the dorms anymore. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

Unbelieveable: Forum editorializes against Va Teacher

Well because I don't know anyone up here that likes the Herald. Most people I know read the Forum online or buy one. I don't ever hear people say good things about the Herald. That's just my experience. -
Unbelieveable: Forum editorializes against Va Teacher

1) star2city: How in the world is an editorial in the Fargo Forum a disgrace to Fargo and ND?! What, are we not allowed to stand up for ourselves when someone is telling a graduating class to "not end up in Fargo, ND"?! I may bitch and moan about where I grew up, but I still call it home and I will still stick up for my hometown whenever someone criticizes it. I would hope that you would stick up for your hometown, too, when someone calls it the "armpit of the world." So don't criticize the people of Fargo for things someone else said. 2) ScottM: It's called THE FORUM, and it's a much better newspaper than the Herald. At least call it by its proper name. It has nothing to do with fraud, so don't criticize the newspaper just because of an editorial that someone wrote in it. You're from Fargo, you should know better than to criticize the Forum. 3) Bison Dan: For once, I completely agree with you!!!!! 4) sioux7>5: We don't try to be Minneapolis. We are proud enough to just be Fargo, ND. Have you ever lived in Fargo and gotten to know the feel of the city? If not, you have no right to criticize them either. By the way, yeah I personally have made fun of people from "the South" but I have met plenty of them and I know enough to say or not say some things. I do get offended every once in a while when other people say things about "people from the South"..... You can even ask my friends, they'll tell you that I stand up for them, thank you very much. 5) Diggler: Kane's speech was not meant to be funny. He meant it to be serious, which just proves his ignorance even more! I really don't think he'd appreciate it much if someone was saying those things about his hometown, even if it was meant to be funny. I can't believe some of you, seriously.... You're criticizing a city for sticking up for itself, which GF has done plenty of times.... Give Fargo a break every once in a while, geez you guys never give it a rest.... -
Haha I'm game, count me in too!!
-
Well it's about time we heard something about Brian.... I'm glad for him! Sad to see him go though. I wish him luck with his future hockey career.
-
I just wanted to say congrats to Brian's little brother, John, for getting drafted!! Too bad he's going to Denver for college lol, I guess he didn't want to follow in his big brother's footsteps haha

Alrite, I've had at least 3 or 4 golf recruits (pretty cute, might I add lol) come and ask general campus questions and stuff. This is getting on my nerves since I have never really followed golf! How good of a program is it here?
-
Yepp, I've definitely seen quite a few of them walking around the Union or around campus in general. I've walked past Weston riding his bike while I walk to work. Some of the recruits are here for Getting Started to register and stuff. So maybe they'll be watching some of the current guys workouts? Who knows lol

Well, when riding a motorcycle, a helmet should be required. I could write a novel on how important I think it is to wear seat belts in cars and helmets on motorcycles. I just don't know what to say to people anymore to get them to understand! This guy in Willmar who had just graduated from HS was put in critical condition about a week and a half ago. He was testing out his friend's motorcycle in a mall parking lot, and lost control of it. He was not wearing a helmet. I made the mistake of commenting in the Facebook group about it. I said "So I don't know him, but I will pray for him and his family and friends because I know what it's like for a friend to be in an accident and be seriously injured or killed. Maybe next time he'll wear a helmet, which was obviously a really stupid thing for him not to do this time around." I wasn't trying to offend anyone, although I knew a lot of people would take it the wrong way. But I had to say something. This has to stop happening. I've gotten many messages from his friends calling me ignorant, hypocritical, insensitive, and demoralizing. I've also had messages from his friends calling me a whore and a slut, among other things. I'm just trying to get the word out that it's DANGEROUS and RISKY if you don't try to save your own life. I've told my friends that I'm not gunna feel all that bad for them if they get hurt or killed by not putting on a seat belt or a helmet, it'd be their own fault for killing themselves. I know that sounds horrible, but that's how important I feel it is for people to know these things. Ah thanks, I needed to vent!

So what do you all think of this bizarre occurence?!?! http://www.reuters.com/article/sportsNews/...634708220070626 There was a really long article that I found, but I don't remember where I found it so here's the short version!
-
I can't even keep count of the number of people I know who have been killed or injured in car accidents. A seat belt will not necessarily save your life, as it didn't save a few of my friends' lives, but it will certainly increase the chances of death or even serious injury. I don't think it should even be a second thought to wear one. Seriously, it takes like 3 seconds to put it on.
-
So I just saw a golf recruit walking through the Union, which prompted me to start a thread on the sport! Anyone have any info?!
-
In my opinion, I think it should be mandatory for people to wear seat belts. Do you even have any idea what kind of effects there are on people who don't wear them?! You'd have to be absolutely stupid not to wear one! No offense, but shouldn't you guys know better?!?! That's a horrible example to set by not wearing a seat belt! I am very against people who don't wear them!

I love the Blue Angels! They are really awesome! I enjoyed seeing them while I was in Fargo. I didn't actually go to the show, but I live in north Fargo so I saw them quite frequently. The only complaint I have is that they closed 19th Ave by the airport, which I take a lot so it was kinda a pain in the ass to have to go around and detour. Other than that, good stuff!
