Seems clearly a 5. -
If he was on a one year contact then yes. We want to gives coaches slack because everyone does slimy things, leaving jobs in the middle of a season and the like. Admittedly integrity is in short supply in college athletics but expecting standards you'd expect from some in any other line of work isn't unreasonable.

I'm surprised that the state, and UND (who is having him as a guest speaker) have bought the hype. Here is a good report that highlights his background The real (and shocking) story of Kevin O'Leary's business career | Canada's National Observer: Climate News. I've previously read about multiple other lawsuits related to him, it's not too hard to find online. Just seems like a lot of questionable business practices if not outright fraud, with big promises and little follow through or projects that only benefit himself, not someone I would necessarily want to tie my community's economic reputation too. But maybe it will all work on great and this will get lots of positive attention for GF, and if so that's awesome. Consider me a skeptic.

Feel like this is about as legit as Fufeng. There's a long trail of stench around Mr. Wonderful, unfortunately with no media in the market anymore to dig into this, people will never find that out until we're again left holding the bag. If this was Berkshire Hathway there would be reason for excitement, but this feels like the Music Man, trouble in River City.

One thing that Brad has left out, is that with the neutral site regionals, they have usually tried to then seed the tournament as completely as possible, with every regional seeded 1-4 based on PWR, so effectively the tourney is seed 1-16. I think if they went to a seeds hosting, it would be like FCS or any of the other sports, where only the top 8 get seeded, and then it's regionalized from there, so depending on who is close by to minimize travel among the unseeded teams that's who'll you get. I don't think there would end up being many east-west matchups, which would be a real shame. And with the games over spring break, I'm not sure that even home rinks would necessarily get the great attendance Brad predicts, especially when tickets are at NCAA prices. Part of the problem is everyone would rather go to the Frozen Four, hoping their team gets that far. Not sure there is any easy solution to this "problem".

No CCHA team will get close to top 16. That league is below AHA this year. ECAC always seems to have an upset, so if Q doesn't win, top 13 seems almost a certain requirement Would really need an unlikely Cinderella run in Big10 or HEA, but can't rule out a Duluth or possibly CC with their goaltending. Should be an interesting second half.

Yep. Olympic ice games might as well just be called power play. Glad they are disappearing.

Who did their mutual boss endorse? An interesting question we'll never know the answer to.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Well the media picked them second in nchc and they started in top 10 in the national poll so that shows someone did. I figured Persson was a huge upgrade in goal and that offense would be better and hold things up until d corps settled in. -

If you think you have a title contending team I'd argue that's exactly who you keep. -
Players was great. Miss it as well. 42nd St Eatery was another good one.

The reality in today's college sports is that as a have, UND should be pulling in portal guys every year. Just like we will lose football players to FBS teams and basketball players to high majors. . The overwhelming majority of our portal pickups have become solid contributors so staff clearly knows how to spot the right fits. -
Sports info still seems pretty solid, just meant that it was also strong during the Wanless tenure, which showed he cared about all facets of department including elements not as visible to the average fan.
-
Never wanna be the guy that replaces THE GUY. He can build something special at Washington, and I'd assume they will pony up to keep him.
-
He might not have been loved, but virtually every program was a big winner during Wanless' tenure. Sports Info department was also well run, and marketing was light years better.
-
That's what every program is. That's college football now. Just a money pit.
-
I think you meant to say because no alums have stepped up the way Ralph Englestad did.

Is FBS list any longer?

They ran a regular running play on the third down which resulted in the injury. If they had taken a knee on that play, no injury, no clock stoppage, and punt goes back to Texas with them taking possession with about 10 secs. left and nearly full field to go. The bigger mistake was on the previous drive when they threw an incomplete pass on third down, so Texas didn't have to take a TO before Washington went out 37-28. They left the Longhorns with the two TOs to use after not recovering onside kick. It wasn't great clock management by UW in the fourth but they held on.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

I'd prefer Kansas City to Austin. KC also drivable for those that prefer that option. Do it american royal weekend to kick off the season. -
I'm not crazy about the three week playoff. That potentially leaves a lengthy break and chance to be rusty if you have a first round upset. It also feels like they just took what everyone else is doing. I guess it depends on what the purpose of the conference tourney is, generate money, get more teams into the NCAAs, etc. I would have liked to see a more innovative format, that really awards regular season excellence. I'd propose a straight single elimination tourney, but with a couple of modifications. First week, 3 seed and 4 seed host. 1 and 2 seeds get bye to Semifinals. 3 seed site (seeds 3, 6 and 7) Day 1 - 6 vs 7 Day 2 - 3 vs 6-7 winner to advance to semifinals 4 seed site (seeds 4,5,8,9) Day 1 - 4 vs 9, 5 vs 8 Day 2 - Winners from day 1, winner advances to semifinals Week 2 - 1 seed hosts Friday - 1 seed vs lowest remaining, 2 seed vs highest remaining, Saturday - Championship This format provides benefits for regular season performance 1 seed - hosts final four and receives off week and bye to semis 2 seed - receives off week and bye to semis 3 seed - hosts and only needs 1 win to make semifinal 4 seed - hosts games to reach semifinals 5-9 seeds -a chip and chance baby! This also gives the host school 2 weeks to prepare for the finals and still keeps a somewhat tournament vibe. It would also allow a TV partner to schedule all the games at different times over the 2 weekends, with the first round games at the 4 seed being Thursday and Friday and the games at the 3 seed being Friday and Saturday.

Would be shocked if Jack's don't repeat.
