Yes, there is a lot of UND figures active on twitter today, all talking about the same thing. Is this the announcement that we have all been waiting for?
One tweet also mentioned ACDC playing at the Al so to me this has to do with the new entrance that they have been working on. I just want it to be tomorrow night!!
Back in Black? Hmmmmmm?

They should try to get PJ Sparks' sis to sing the National Anthem for a game sometime -- maybe save it for a big game like Montana or for a time when we have both football and hockey in town; Jordin could sing at both games! Wonder if she'd ever consider doing it?

Oh great. We get to listen to paul ralston roam the sidelines and try to be a homer
Holy Debby Downer! The turf has the wrong logos, the jerseys are ugly and too damn tight, the TV contract, though lucrative, forces many fans to watch UND games online (and thus somehow makes our team seem Bush League), the off the field entertainment is lame, Hammer is god awful, the sideline reporter is a homer ... blah, blah, blah, blah ... Sheesh, I can't wait for football to actually start so we can shelve all these first-world problems we seem to have around here and gripe about X's and O's.

Does DeVillers still do some high school sports for the Herald, also, or am I way behind on that one?
You are right. Greg is still there and is pretty much exclusively high school sports (except hockey -- he hates hockey!), though again, it's all hands on deck come Feb and March tourney time, meaning he has a lot of helpers.

The Herald has more reporters covering UND sports than the Forum (with 3x the circulation and a metro that is more than twice that of GF-EGF). They are Wayne Nelson (football, basketball, misc. others), Tom Miller (football, basketball, volleyball, misc. others) and Schloss (men's and women's hockey, football, when needed, misc. others).
Forum has Kolpack (football, basketball, misc. others), Kevin Schnepf (football, basketball, misc. others) -- oh, and Izzo chimes in from the TV station with Social media tweets and video blogs.
Comparatively speaking, the Herald does quite well with the limited resources it has given the diverse and rabid sports passions within its readership area.

its just that there is so much speculation about the ipf that it would be nice if the herald sat down with faison or muss and just ask a few questions to see how close it is to being a reality and so forth instead of people on here and sab saying they know someone that knows someone that saw a a construction worker near the old engelstad digging a hole?
Patience, young grasshopper.

How do we know that something by the Herald is not in the works right now? And confirmation won't come from a Mussmany YouTube quote. The Herald won't go with something like this without someone going on the record -- leave that to SAB.

33-6, attendance 8600
I don't think UND will lose by THAT much.
EDIT: Sorry, couldn't waste the smart alecky response, based on your glass-half empty history toward UND athletics and the fact that the home team traditionally is the latter number on the scoring line, hence "6" would be attributed to UND ( I know, others on here listed it the same way, but in most cases, they assigned the team name to the corresponding score.)
Rock on!

I really don't know but Outlaws would be good. Then they could play Outlaw Pete at the games.
Outlaw Pete...He was born a little baby on the Appalachian Trail
At six months old he'd done three months in jail
He robbed a bank in his diapers and his little bare baby feet
All he said was "Folks, my name is Outlaw Pete."
I'm Outlaw Pete!
I'm Outlaw Pete!
Cool! I don't hate it.

I have always thought that Rough Riders was a lame name for Red River. Having it at UND would even be worse.
That's a valid opinion. What would you propose would be a good nickname for UND?
-
I've always liked Rough Riders (Roughriders, or however it would be written.) IrishSiouxFan isn't out of line on this one. Much too much is made out of the Red River High School vs. Central thing, or even just the fact that UND would have the same nickname as a high school in the same community. It's an idea worth considering as much as any other. No one's opinion's should be outright discounted, but then again no one constituency (Central grads) should have more input into the process over another. Roughriders is very unique outside of Grand Forks, and I think two schools in the same community that share much the same cultural and state historical backgrounds could celebrate having the same nickname with little or no problem.

UND makes a respectable come back in the third set after going down 0-7 to lead off the game, eventually losing 25-16. Hope they learned something this weekend. Still, good job, ladies!
-
The wheels may have just come off. 7-0 run to start the third set by A&M. T.O. UND.
-
Texas A&M lost 3 sets to 1 against USC. UND was very competitive in first set against A&M. Just lacking a bit of height on the front line.
-
UND completes its worst set of the young season. No system, no discipline, running all over the court. Loses 25-14. One more lost set and they're done. But like I said 1-2 this weekend against this tough competition is nothing to sneeze at.
-
UND video stream doesn't work for me... I am able to watch it via Aggie TV's 12th Man Network from the Texas A&M site. UND drops first set 25-21.
-
If anyone is broadcasting it over the radio, it is not being promoted, so I would assume only live stat updates and video stream are the options for this one.
-
I don't know about radio, but it will be video streamed via http://www.undsports.com/liveEvents/liveEvents.dbml?SPID=6387&db_oem_id=13500
I will check for radio opportunities as well.
-
Congrats to Ashley and the team. They have played well today, and have a big game tomorrow.
Agreed! The Texas State radio guy is clearly impressed with UND's showing earlier today against USC, as well.
-
UND took fourth set 25-18! The ladies rolled three straight to take the match. Next up host Texas A&M tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
-
UND ladies beat Texas State 3 sets to 1 for first victory of the year!
-
I will be thrilled if we can come out of this weekend 1-2. I will be absolutely through-the-roof ecstatic if we can make it 2-1. After seeing how they played this morning against #5 in the nation, UND should be able to notch a win against these solid teams. Just don't get complacent!
-
Just wasn't in the cards against one of the toughest teams in the nation. UND drops final set 25-21. So sets went 25-20, 25-23, 25-21 for USC. A first year Division I tournament eligible team takes an established VB powerhouse and drops 20+ on them in each set in their first match of the year. It's probably all down hill from here for UND until tourney time, if that's in the cards. Way to make us proud, ladies!
