So Coaching with no contract beyond this year seems to have lit a fire.
Combined with better facilities.

UND Softball has as many wins (14) on March 11 than it had all of last season (14-42). The Hawks completed a two-game sweep of Tennessee Tech today in the Volunteer State.

…. who is gifted the vast majority of its annual federal research haul in the form of non-competitive ag extension funding by virtue of being the designated land-grant institution for North Dakota. That’s the part that no one says out loud.
Yes, UND has the medical school but most of its (med school) federal research funding is funding that needs to be competed for. The difference in the amount of non-comp federal funding that each of North Dakota’s research institutions receive is really night/day.
What UND has finally been able to do should not be poo-pooed in any way given the playing field.

Listening to the podcast, and there is quite a bit of talk about facilities. Hoping that means we will get to see the team in a sweet room on ESPN during the selection show getting announced as a high seed. Would be nice to see some pictures of the offices and team rooms if they are online anywhere. If anyone has a link, please share it.

Didn’t get to watch live but we mauled them to start. That was a glimpse of us having a legit defense for the first time in a long long time. Once that mobile qb got in there it was a nightmare though I do feel we did improve a bit later in the second half. Offensively I think the OC was trying to prove a point on film that will pay dividends in the future. We needed to show that stacking the box isn’t necessarily a good option against us and we did a decent, not great, job at that. Lots of improvement to be had on both sides but I see potential with a very inexperienced team. We will improve a ton over the course of the year. Romfro had some bad moments for sure but he got the job done. Jerry should’ve had 2 full series at the end at least. Bubba does a terrible job getting his backup qbs playing time. Even with romfro needing reps I can’t justify not getting the young guy some very valuable experience. Total joke. We left a lot of meat on the bone today and I hope the team is pissed off about that. We did not look good in the middle of this game and I hope Bubba and company are harping on that all week. It was a partially dominant win but we need to get to that next step mentally where we finish the job and grind them to dust down the stretch. Also, is there a mute button so I don’t have to sift through the keyboard diarrhea on this site?
You're the eff'n best, gueax. My thoughts exactly.

He was less accurate and less mobile during the entirety of camp, plus he's only been in the program for a year so doesn't have as good of handle on things. For those reasons, the new OC, who had no allegiance to any of the QB's, picked someone else.
But, boy, could he sling it.

Assuming that's headcount. Any fte projections?
Haven’t seen FTE projections yet. Some of that granular data will be recorded dashboards in the coming weeks. I will keep an eye out.
EDIT: With the surge in new freshmen (+428/ +29%) for fist day 2024, I would imagine a nice bump on FTE.
UND’s first day headcount is already 550 students more than census day official count last year. This year’s first day head count would rank 5th highest all time at UND. Highest was 15,250 in 2012, if memory serves.

First day 2024 = 14,724
+ 863 or 6.23% over First day 2023
Last year UND gained 300+ between first day and fourth week census day.

The President has been saying, as one single metric, that there are 400 more new freshman on campus compared to last year. We also had an 83% retention rate from fall 22 to fall 23 -- the highest ever recorded in NDUS history, and a 94% retention from fall 23 to spring 24. People just simply want to be a part of UND right now.
Here is his State of the University Address from last Thursday. He talks enrollment starting at the 12:20 mark.

Late decision to drive down to Ames for the football game next Saturday. Does anybody know what section is for UND fans? Is it way up in Section Z?
This is what the email said from UND a couple weeks back:
We have a limited number of tickets that we are selling in a block so all UND fans can be together. They are located in Section 41, if we fill that, we will move to sections H and J. All tickets are $75 + fees.
My crew is a party of 13. We got ours earlier this summer. I heard there will be a healthy contingent of UND fans in Ames over Labor Day weekend.

Guessing Grand Forks will be booming this Sunday and Monday with Zach Bryan most likely setting Alerus Center records on back to back nights.
Plus Welcome Weekend at UND, a marathon in town, and Downtown Street Fair.

I haven’t really heard much about Langden College. Figured he would be someone that would push for his shirt being pulled. Came in in the spring.
Give him time. He’ll be a good one. He should be in line to get at least 4 games this season.

So UND's projected QB is not going to be the junior for Moorhead, correct?
They haven’t named anyone yet.

We also haven't seen a ball thrown like that in a couple years! Going to be fun!!
I’l have to watch it again. I was so focused on the catch. All of the returning QBs have had pretty good arms and loft this fall; getting a clean pocket to throw and accuracy have been more of a challenge for them. For all 5 of the QBs for that matter. You’re right, though; should be fun!
