  1. So, the kid is presently a sophomore in high school, and he's going to play next year in the USHL with the alleged Fargo team. Then what? That puts us at 2009-10; Schlossman says he's a 2010 recruit. I must be getting too old; I think all parties in this thing are being asked to make commitments at far too early a stage of development. Good for UND, the kid sounds like a stud. But who knows what he's going to be like almost three full school years from now.
  2. This is one of my biggest frustrations with this team. They seem to be aiming for a SportsCenter highlight goal instead of just a goal. Oh, and we really need to be shooting quicker; too long holding the puck, more blocked shots, etc.
  3. Happened right in front of me: a Techie came out of nowhere and just flat-out bowled Lammy over! I think JPL may have done a full gainer in the air. Obviously not a single set of striped-shirt eyes saw it. My kids looked at me like "did you see that?" and I looked at the dude sitting next to me and he never even had a clue that it had occurred. Lamoureux limped for a couple minutes after that, and I think some of the rough stuff from the Sioux was in retaliation of the hit. It was deliberate, and had nothing to do with the action, which had gone almost to the blue line by that point. Aside from the dude who hit Lammy, there wasn't another skater within 15 feet of him.
  4. Excellent observation Y. Friday was not the first night this has happened to the Sioux. Time to stop trying for the highlight goals. Time to get ugly.
  5. Jeeze. I'm hearing a lot about d-men not handling the puck very well in their own zone. Having hellish times getting it out of the zone. Too bad Brian Lee signed with the Sens, huh? Oh, and one other thing: a championship team needs a goaltender who makes all the saves he's supposed to make and a couple great ones every game. This team doesn't have that right now.
  6. Somebody's gotta start taking this personally. Someone has to step up and say "Enough". I don't want to hear about puck luck, a hot goalie, whatever. This is embarassing. A team that was pre-season No. 1.
  7. Disappointing. Not surprising. And, as someone else has already pointed out, it is time for the boys to grow up.

Holy cow... travel budgets are going to be quite a bit higher, huh? And a whole lot of opportunity for natural, geographic rivalries.

    Lennon gone

I thought he was making quite a bit more than 100K. If that's all he was pulling down I'll go back and sit in my corner. Sorry for the interruption.
  10. Those numbers make absolutely no sense. It lists JT at $2.8 mil, yet the rookie maximum IIRC is less than $900K. What am I missing?
  11. Clearly you're dealing with some "other" issues... wanna share? I have the name of a wonderful therapist I can share with you.

Boy, that doesn't seem like a big enough pay raise to make the move... there's something else going on here.
  13. Unfortunately mikejm is best man in a wedding Saturday, so no tailgating. But, as most of you already know, he's already quite stupid. Merry Christmas everyone.
  14. I know you started this thread in the true spirit of giving Fetch. But I didn't really want a freakin' heart attack.
  15. I'm torn on this deal: I feel for the Gopher program and its fans. It seems like a real crappy deal for Kyle to bail at mid-season. But I also feel for Kyle and the holy he77 he's going to receive when he comes home as a pro; no kid deserves to be booed (well, unless he's killed a litter of puppies or something). What it ironic in that is many of the "boo-ers" at the X will be the same people who soundly booed our own TJ Oshie when he was introduced before every Final Five game. What bothers me most out of this whole deal is the arrogance Islanders' GM Snow displays in his comments about the UoM program: This is tacit acknowledgment of college hockey's unpaid and uncompensated role in developing players for the NHL. If Snow's sentiments are shared among a majority of the league, then its time for the NHL to start sending college programs bags full of cash. As to the rest of the Gophers' season? I'd say this will make them a hungrier, more dangerous team.
  16. ...wish I had a job like that.......
  17. Jeeze cujo2... you keep making sane, even-handed posts around here and I'm likely to forget you're a Gopher fan!
  18. With all due respect to both Blais and Bollinger, this latest tinkering with the process just stinks of more good ole boy crap. When will this university emerge from the back woods?
  19. Judging by his jersey pop Tuesday I'd say he's more a UMTC recruit.
  20. Four keys on which I am in complete agreement with you, yzerman...
  21. I'm not hearing people here saying they favor Pat Sweeney over the Wooger and the RugWearer, am I? The Wooger is a classic.
  22. IIRC the stations you mention are owned by the same companies who owned the baseball teams you cite. TBS=Turner=Braves and WGN=Chicago Tribune=Cubs. The baseball teams have now been (or are being) sold, so things will likely change.
  23. I also heard he's in need of some TLC after eating a spoiled BLT at KFC. K?
  24. Seems to be gettin' a little personal...
