  1. With the Rattlesnakes in Western North Dakota, maybe "Sidewinders" would fit a North Dakota theme. Of course, since some say Sioux translates to "Snake in the Grass", someone would take offense.
  2. I assume he's the son of former NHL and Manitoba Moose player Mike Keane?
  3. Yes, in most cases, but there are plenty that figure it out in college. Jonny Brodzinski had 10 goals 12 assists in his best season in Fargo in 58 games. I would take him on the Sioux in a heartbeat. You can look at most college teams' committed recruits and find poor numbers, and there may be different reasons for that because of playing time, roles etc. Give me a player like Colton St. Clair over a guy like James Massen any day.

    2015 Recruiting

Jerk store. Missed on that one Costanza.
  5. ... and of course any prospective recruits on the U.S. Developmental team get to witness the worst of North Dakota winter! Wind chills in the 30-40 below range.
  6. Anyone catch William Laggeson at the World Juniors for Sweden? I know this thread showed that TSN said UND is a possible landing spot for him, but with the verbal from Gabe Bast, is there still room? Does a 4th round draft pick wait an extra year?
  7. Doesn't bother me. I had issues with the night game at the Final Five, but this is their tournament and deserve to call the shots on when they think most fans will show up.
  8. ...and Kyle Rau with a shot to the head ... No penalty!
  9. ... and cue the back to back power plays seconds after they take that lead.
  10. Talking about a committed recruit and doing a comparison on him. Sounds on topic to me.
  11. Sounds like he is starved for attention... Sounds like someone on this board!
  12. We've had 4 goalies before, but I don't think it is ideal.
  13. I'm hoping Zane does.
  14. http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/2014/9/25/6843943/getting-to-know-matej-tomek This article suggests he could go early as far as goalies go, but we've seen guys highly regarded that don't always perform in college.
  15. Even when resulting in a goal?
  16. I've seen people speculating on Twitter that UND has been "jerking" around Rowe for a while. Guess what, in the college hockey environment today with players going to Major Junior and what not, if you are an average player, you are going to get pushed back in order to get more skill in the lineup to offset talented defections. It's sad in a way, but it is the state of college hockey. Add to the mix that Rowe has had injury problems every year, and you get this type of scenario.
  17. I saw somewhere that he signed his letter in November, is that not the case? I assume UND can release him from that though, which may be the case when they talked about potential playing time. Too bad it didn't work out, as I think his dad played in town here and his grandparents still live here.
  18. Not a huge fan of any inanimate object, as the pride factor doesn't seem to be there any more than if we were the forks or spoons. That said, don't know that we'll find any name like we had that would exude pride. Roughriders or Reapers would be high on my list. Any mythical nicknames not yet taken?
  19. I know what would really drive the elites and NCAA crazy, The University of North Dakota Capitalists! Have dollar signs as the logo. Of course the NCAA would go nuts even though they are all about the money!
  20. I think you're right, it's Auston Matthews that is a year away. I would say Boeser will probably want to play with those linemates,
  21. I would rather have Nick Schmaltz setting me up to help my draft status, but if he already has a friendship and chemistry with them, I certainly can see why he would choose that route.
  22. Wow, apparently Chambers isn't the only clueless writer there!
  23. Yeah, that would work too. Thought I had been through everything on this thread, but I guess not.
  24. If we can't be Wheatkings because it won't work that well for the women, perhaps we could be the Threshers or Thrashers and have wheat stalks on the sleeves of our jerseys and a takeoff of the evil corn masks you see at Cornhusker games with a wheat theme on a Grim Reaper type figure yielding a scythe to cut down the opposition.
  25. What would the politically correct professors and do-gooders do if we revised history a bit and started to suggest that we weren't forced to relinquish the nickname, we just decided that it wasn't a name we could be proud of anymore. Can you imagine the outrage.
