  1. Sioux are now in a tie for 12th in the pairwise with Michigan State.
  2. ... and I have said all along that it is lip service just like the supposed support of Bemidji State all those years. You can talk all you want, but I don't see games scheduled like I do with Notre Dame, and now it appears Denver.
  3. Seth Jones with a goal tonight in a win over Muskegon.
  4. Hey, it worked great for 50 years, as the school has a lot of brandname recognition across the country coming from such a small school. I guess we'll find out going forward if using just the school name gives us the same recognition.
  5. Really, but when they didn't have the nickname they were working deals with other schools but couldn't come up with one with a rival? Must not have been working too hard at it since Wisconsin and UND had already struck a deal.
  6. Like I said before, the proof is in the pudding. Don Lucia does not want to play UND, and the fact that he is making scheduling agreements left and right proves the point. Before it was because of his son playing for Notre Dame, but don't think he has a son playing for Denver. On the positive side, if Minnesota's problems with Denver are any indication, the NCHC could benefit from an agreement in the Pairwise.
  7. One thing I would ask Baggot is why didn't Wisconsin finish in fourth place or better when they have two All-WCHA players in his eyes, including the POY. Hakstol certainly should have been coach of the year if he didn't have enough talent to only be worthy of one third-team member, plus playing with basically two lines of walk-ons or defensemen-turned forward. Our first line obviously didn't warrant much with him, so he must have been pretty impressed with our second line -- just not good enough to warrant much recognition. Seriously, Hakstol must have manufactured home ice from smoke and mirrors, which isn't far off, but then shouldn't that warrant attention.
  8. Thought I heard that Iverson was more inclined to the Major Junior route, but who knows.
  9. Hopefully he will be in town on a night we clinch a berth into the Final Five and the building will be rocking with a stick salute to follow.
  10. Certainly I wonder what the kid did to get kicked off the team, but I am sure the coaches know exactly what he did and probably determined that he is warranted a second chance. I think a lot of these kids that have played on elite teams growing up have been told how great they are and think they can do no wrong. It is nice when somebody comes along and draws a line in the sand, yet is willing to give them a second chance if they tow the line. From what I have heard from host families in Ann Arbor, there are a good number of jerks and punks with an attitude that needs to be adjusted, including those who people have made out to be saints. When you have those that are down to earth and have a humble view of themselves, they are rare and if the talent is there coaches jump all over them, because more likely than not, when you bring in some players they need to be brought down to earth a bit.
  11. For those that don't see Kristo's performances night in and night out in which he is all over the ice, you almost have to use numbers as a guide. Brad has had to use numbers and the performance of J.T. Brown against the Sioux to put him where he is on his list. I am sure the Minnesota media contingent are more impressed by Brock Nelson with the numbers he put up against them. It kind of is a matter of when people watch you combined with overall numbers.
  12. Next weekends CCHA matchups are Bowling Green at Ferris State, Michigan State at Miami, Lake Superior at Western Michigan, and Notre Dame at Michigan. I would hope that Ferris State, Lake Superior, and Michigan wins, as long as Lake Superior doesn't win the whole CCHA tourney. The Michigan State / Miami matchup is a tossup who to route for since both are ahead of us. That is based strictly on the pairwise as it stands now. Not sure what the records are of those teams with TUC. Is there somewhere that gives current records of teams that are currently considered a TUC?
  13. Northern did get beat by Bowling Green and slipped to 16 in the pairwise.
  14. Northern Michigan getting beat again by Bowling Green 3-1 in the third. I believe they are directly behind us in the pairwise and wouldn't have a chance to improve on that position. Also, Merrimack, who also is behind us, plays Maine who is a few slots ahead of us next week, so one of them will lose ground. Sioux need to take care of business and hope for a few other scenarios to move up in the pairwise.
  15. I think people should go back and read the thread from way back when we played Bemidji and lost in the Sunday game. This team has no talent. Hakstol can't coach. Now we have come full circle saying there is no way we should lose to a team like Bemidji State-- a team that swept a talented team like Colorado College. I guess we should be happy we aren't CC fans. Bemidji is a hardworking team with a little bit of talent to boot. Our top line is the huge difference between these teams right now, so they need to produce for the Sioux since we got shutout in the loss to them. Let's face it, talent wise our last two lines aren't head and shoulders above anybody, but Hakstol has got them fulfilling roles and chipping in here and there. Just find it very amusing that we have come from no-talent uncoached team to no way we should lose to a team that has given plenty of teams fits.
  16. I think the point is you never know what these guys are going to do. Nobody had a worry about Hextall, yet how nice would it be to have him suited up in that slot where we aren't able to field a player. As far as Kristo being ready to play in the NHL, I would bet that if our season ended early, Montreal would certainly like to get a look at him through their remaining games so they can feed their maniacal fans hope for the future. I think Kristo is more dominant than Bjugstad, even if his numbers aren't quite there. As far as a player being ready for the NHL, it is sometimes whether the opportunity is there or not. I would say that at the college level Kristo is more dominant than Derek Stepan, yet Stepan was a candidate for rookie of the year. Kristo has been to Montreal's camps, so I am sure they know whether he has a chance with the big club right away or if he needs some minor league development. Regardless, I am sure they want to get him in their system if not to sell the fans hope, to keep from running the risk of losing him after another season.
  17. Frattin with a goal and an assist in a 3-1 Toronto win over Montreal in Randy Carlyle's first game as head coach.
  18. I see that Denver scored in the last 38 seconds to tie Omaha and then went on to win it in overtime. Wonder what a loss there would have done to Denver in the Pairwise.
  19. Yeah, let's hope Seth Jones wasn't here to fight through that nasty weather last night.
  20. Yeah, Merrimack had a bad loss to Massachussetts last night and didn't really drop at all. Sioux could use a Denver or Northern Michigan loss tonight, if not a few more upsets.
  21. I agree, it's kind of a "be careful what you wish for" scenario. Hopefully the players aren't hoping for one team at the expense of overlooking the other. I just don' want to hear Mike Eaves whining all weekend and all the pushing and shoving that came along with the last time we played Wisconsin.
  22. Looks like there was a lot of roughing and slashing during the closing minutes of the Minnesota/Wisconsin game. How can that be? Anybody see any of the incidents?
  23. Bemidji State beat Anchorage 2-1. Looks like it will be decided tomorrow night.
  24. Question. If Wisconsin sweeps Minnesota, do they offer the Sioux more in the way of gaining in the Pairwise rankings, even if it had to go to 3 games, or does any loss for the Sioux kill us now? What prevents us from playing Wisconsin, a Bemidji sweep and a loss for Wisconsin to the gophers tomorrow?
