They seem to keep taking the hits with defections. I wonder if Tyler Biggs wishes he were further along in his education right about now. A first round pick that is going down in leagues, not up. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=121437

I have a feeling if a UND hockey player scored a couple of goals against Toronto in their debut, people would be thrilled, as would I, so I don't know how some can lessen the accomplishment of being the guy that has to be the leader of the offense and having a pretty good game. You add in the limitations he had going into the game and it is even more impressive. These are after all professional football players on both sides of the ball. Probably a more equivalent situation would be if we had a goalie making their debut playing a pro team at the end of the standings. If he is in charge of the game, and does his job admirably, it is no less impressive because of who they play.
-
But wasn't that the whole purpose of "leave no doubt" to begin with? It's not like they will be playing harder this weekend, or at least I hope not, because that should have been there from the start.
-
...and once again the Bison are charmed and the other team misses a winning field goal in regulation.
-
Guess the bottom line is that at some point if they want to aspire to championships, they have to make those plays, so being in in those pressure situations can only help.
-
That's all fine and good, but they always play very conservatively much of the rest of the time. Also thought it wasn't great to try the long field goal when defense had been stopping them, but they were bailed out by a dumb play by Bowling Green returning the missed field goal. I know they probably are more apt to go for two on the road.
-
Said it before the play, but you hang your hat on defense, and you try for two? Your defense is playing well, and your kicking game is good, why not play it out?
-
Run sets up the pass. If you can't run you make it difficult to pass. Like I said before, games are won in the trenches, and our O-line needs to make major improvement for us to be successful.

I am with you on that as well. It scares me to think that our fan base could reach the level of arrogance where they think that every player on their team is a complete angel, while every player on their rival is a cheap hack, even though most of the same players were recruited by both teams. I still hold out hope for us as a fan base, because the arrogance isn't quite as prevalent in the media here that will indoctrinate the majority, but make no mistake, there are those that think our guys are saints as well.
-
Really, how was it that Wisconsin has been on our schedule consistently? The Minnesota Gophers have been synonymous with the word arrogance, so you may want to find a new team to cheer for then. If you bothered to read the scathing article last year regarding your gophers, you had many ex-players echoing that. Don't know if you would hear the same dissent among our alumni. You also might want to take a look at this letter sent to the Herald, which has been more the sentiment concerning our coaching staffs. http://undhockey.areavoices.com/

You mean like a coach who called for the cessation of one of college hockey's best rivalries because of his own personal biases, no matter the rest of the fanbases feelings? By the way the same coach when forced to play UND in the National Semifinals has the nerve to do a complete 180 when talking to the media about how great the rivalry is. Perhaps he knew he had to humble himself a bit and start playing again or he could be out of a job when they can't even fill half the arena for most games.
-
Care to give examples of this arrogance? I remember gophers doing the jersey popping. Don't think you see the excessive celebrations by UND players compared with much of the rest of the college hockey world. Yes, there are some instances, but as a whole, I think UND has frowned on the "me, me" type celebrations.
-
It's an obvious improvement, yet I don't think they would ever entertain the thought of making the change.

Wow, he is 44 years old! It doesn't seem that long ago. I guess that's what everyone says when they are getting old!
-
What about Wallenheimo? Not sure on the spelling of his last name and don't even want to try on his first name.
-
Was Jeff Jackson one of the coaches that said they wouldn't honor the gentlemen's agreement?
-
According to GPL, Josh Maniscalco might not end up at Minnesota. Guessing the OHL must have been in his ear, but interesting to see what actually comes of it.
-
I'm thinking it looks o.k. Would probably look even better with a little smaller logo on the blocker, and one smaller one on each goalie pad.
-
With you there as well.
-
-
Exactly, it would have looked terrible. That's what people are saying about a large Fighting Hawk logo.
-
Personally, if we can just get beyond the stupid booing every time they say "Fighting Hawks at full strength", I will consider that progress.
-
But the point is, if you'll pardon the pun, is that everyone seems to think that it is one size fits all, and it shouldn't have to be. Never has been in the past, and to all of a sudden decree that every program has to use the new logo as prominently would be hypocritical, and not help in the transition. It's like jamming cauliflower down someone's throat and demanding they like it.
-
So where was everybody saying that the football team wasn't supporting the old logo? The fact that the football program never had the old logo on their helmet but jumped at this one could just as well look like a slight at the old logo. Many people are saying that this new logo doesn't look good when it is large, but may look better small. That wasn't the case with the old logo. I am not a huge fan of the new logo, but it does look fine on certain things. I just don't think if a team chooses not to use a logo prominently it says that they aren't loyal to the University.
-
Don't remember the Fighting Sioux logo being a prominent part on the football field and helmets.
