  1. Yes, they are only setting themselves up for more pain down the road with any possibility of an extension, because Berry won’t change his stripes and clings to the defensive style he knows. Most coaches get that most games are won with special teams, and if you are going to be the team defending all the time rather than attacking, you are going to be the ones with more penalties. UND has to decide if getting in the tournament 50% of the time with no tournament runs is acceptable. I’m guessing from how bad our athletic programs are, they think it is.
  2. Denver, BC, BU and Minnesota can all lose game 1.
  3. Yeah, we like to start the season strong and work backwards from there under Berry.
  4. I have a feeling it is because Green Bay is a below average team. They have a lot of guys deep into the minus category, one at -27.
  5. The thing with Schlossman is he talks the program up so much, but I think if you looked at his weekly picks when Hakstol was coach and during Berry’s tenure you would see a wide disparity on his picks from one to the other, showing far less confidence in wins under Berry. Would love to see his weekly picks from this year especially.
  6. So by that logic the team that wins the National Championship every year has the most talent. You may want to work on reading comprehension.
  7. Other than Bump, players that have produced a lot better in junior hockey and have been drafted. Not saying they have played more talented. Just like the saying goes hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Guys like Nehring and Slukynsky sure work hard.
  8. Western is Denvering Denver, in their face all of the time, forcing Denver to defend and block shots. Usually it is Denver wearing down the opposing team in the offensive end. If a less talented team can do that, why can’t a team with more talent? It comes down to will and culture.
  9. …and if hockey is so insignificant, then why give a crap about the outcomes. I think anyone knows the reason, it’s because hockey fans are very passionate about their sport. Give me a Stanley Cup playoff game with the passion and intensity any day over the most popular sport football playoffs where the stars are so full of themselves. So yes, football is more popular with viewership, but hockey is my sport hands down.
  10. The problem we have is that we need to move fast, but in the same token, do we want Bill Chaves making a decision on another coach? If they plan on giving Berry another year, they should get rid of Chaves first, so we can get someone with a successful record of coach hiring.
  11. You realize that ChatGPT is just a glorified message board. If not, put all your money down on their stock suggestions.
  12. How are we getting players that played on those teams?
  13. If you are going to bring in Chyzyk, why not bring in someone he has worked with in Smaby to be coach, because you can get the talent, but if Berry isn’t going to play them, or his systems don’t best utilize their talents, what have you gained? Maybe there is another up and comer like Raboin, but don’t push the reset another couple years down the line to give Berry another chance to change his stripes, especially when he is so close to the end of his career anyway. Get your coach of the future and general manager to grow together.
  14. I think we played fine the first two periods, but when the score is tied and your season is on the line and a team who doesn’t need to have the same desperation comes out and dominates you, it doesn’t give you a lot of confidence in the work ethic. It seems it takes falling behind in a game and the pairwise to get them to start playing with intensity and desperation, and as we have seen, that doesn’t work out too well. Where was that Jackson Kunz we saw the last 5 minutes all year? Berry had his reboot season where he turned over the whole defensive unit to change the direction. You shouldn’t get a second reboot, because at some point the direction change should be away from the current culture.
  15. The fact that Alex has actual accomplishments from Denver to list off to define their greatness, but has to use hyperbole when talking about UND is a sad state of how far we have fallen.
  16. You mean you expect the person who uses xG to show how good UND really is, and calls losing at the “X” in the semi finals every year a hex, to give an accurate state of the program evaluation.
  17. Funny how Scott Arniel didn’t bring Berry on as an assistant coach with Winnipeg after getting fired in his first stint in Columbus with Berry as assistant. Seems like he made the right decision, as Winnipeg is flourishing while UND has fallen out of the top ten college programs.
  18. It’s bizarre some of the lineup decisions, almost like Berry is being paid on the side by our rivals to drive the program into the ground.
  19. Seriously, if you aren’t planning on an extension, just rip off the bandaid now.
  20. I have a feeling Berry will announce some recruits pretty quick to try and take some of the heat off. We have seen you can have good recruits but if they aren’t being used correctly, or used period, it doesn’t matter.
  21. Fully expecting a UND player to say they are glad they gave UND fans another chance to watch the team play in the Frozen Faceoff at the “X”.
  22. In retrospect, losing to Omaha might have been more of an eye opener for people who can’t see the forest for the trees, which appears to be the case for the administration at UND. It seems like it is just as baffling how Chaves keeps his job when the programs at UND are so dysfunctional.
  23. Now can someone please show that list of all the teams that have more NCAA tournament wins than UND during the Berry era!
  24. Seven Frozen Fours and never missing the tournament or home ice?
  25. Thankfully I saved my money for an extra golf outing this summer. The Berry Effect indeed!
