  1. ...and this Vegas team has their hands full with a team that has some old castoffs, that plays a defensive system and are in the mix for a cup. They and the Islanders are Cup contenders if they’ve come this far.
  2. Remember how many were saying the coaches had to make room for Ryder Donovan at the expense of Judd Caulfield? Don’t know that was a big miss. At some point the coaches had to make the decision of who was more ready, and they chose Johnson. They will always be open to second guessing, but that is part of the job. I think they chose right in Caulfield’s case.
  3. If you play the right way, you don’t have to be more talented to win. Don’t think the Islanders are the most talented team, but Trotz has them playing where they can beat more talented teams.
  4. Maybe the coaches will help out and give Schmaltz #8 and Bast #2. Now you’re down to eleven. Only problem is we will be calling them Nick and Gabe!
  5. Looks to me like Johnson is indeed a depth player.
  6. They live in the real world where difficult decisions need to be made. It's not like they can just put a tax on rich alumni to pay for programs that are a major drain on the budget.
  7. Zero goals, zero assists and minus 7 for Blake Wheeler against the Canadiens. Not the kind of stats you are looking for in your Captain. When his buddy Scheiffle went out, that is when you lead the team by example. Jonathan Toews he is not. Maybe Toews can come home when he gets his health in order and get them over the hump.
  8. I agree with the commentators that Scheiffle not making a play on the puck will make it pretty tough not to suspend him.
  9. I missed most of the game, so yeah, if they feel he had an axe to grind it clouds the benefit of the doubt angle a bit.
  10. It might depend on how they view the finish. He was racing back to try prevent a goal, so if they think he couldn’t avoid contact he might get a little benefit of the doubt because he has a solid reputation. The finish is what might get him in big trouble. I only saw it a couple times, so I didn’t get a great feel if he should get some slack or not. I think to be safe, the league will probably error on the side of about 5 games because I don’t see Evans playing again in this series, unless most of the paramedics attention was precautionary.
  11. Committed to Colorado College.
  12. So are we offering as a safety or wide receiver?
  13. I meant earlier in the draft than his current ranking, not early from UND should they end up drafting him. Don’t even know draft position and comparisons to other teams recruits is a huge concern for some.
  14. The draft hasn't happened yet. Wait to see what happens. Ottawa might come in and take Johnson early!
  15. I know, I turned the channel for a minute and came back to the news. Not cool when you are watching and you don’t get to see how the round ends.
  16. It worked out before for CC taking a player who didn't produce up to expectations at another school. Since Weight was only a freshman and didn't get top line time, he probably could be a step ahead of Chris Wilkie in that regard.
  17. Boston University guy dumps another BU guy.
  18. Give it up already. How many quarterbacks from UND played in the NFL.
  19. We all hear about “issues” with Morrow, but what are the issues? After the Mitchell Miller fiasco, I would hope the coaches would be proactive if the issues were a major concern. How are these issues common knowledge to many, yet didn’t prevent us from recruiting him with all the talk of culture? Did these issues suddenly arise?
  20. If all the voters looked at total game, he certainly has a good chance. Don't know that his numbers will scream out like Cale Makar's, but the whole package is undeniable. I do think the coaches will let him go more within the context of the game, much like they did when they trailed Omaha last year.
  21. ...and with all that talent, he was the dominant force in the biggest game of the year as an 18 year old. I think we just saw a glimpse of how dominant he can be and we will need him to be a key cog next year if we want to contend. He is a high first round pick for a reason, and I’m sure coaches have already set expectations for him, and I’m sure he has high aspirations for himself, knowing it will most likely be his last go around in college.
  22. That is why I have so much respect for Sanderson, if anyone should complain about PP time it would be him. He just learned the ropes the whole year and really earned his increased time by the end of the year. Really excited to see him take over next year.
  23. How about you tell Stoney Sioux and he can then let everyone know in English!
