  1. Kleven?
  2. I think our 2016 championship team is an example of a great way to build a roster. Get some 1st round talent that stays a couple years like Boeser and Schmaltz, add some overage talent that has developed into NHL caliber guys like Poolman, and LaDue, mix in a couple guys that you developed into NHL talent like Caggiula and Stecher, then add in some mid round guys like Gersich, Poganski, Luke Johnson, and Wolanin, then fill out with character guys that will go through a brick wall for you, like Trevor Olson, Colten St. Clair, Gage Ausmus, Bryn Chyzyk, and Coltyn Sanderson, and get solid goaltending even from the back ups. (Cam Johnson, Matt Hrynkiw). That is what I call a balanced roster. First round talent is certainly a component if you can get them, as long as they don't already have one foot in the NHL.
  3. Yeah, it's not Murderapolis or communist China!
  4. The funny thing is that people point to players in other leagues that are doing well, and why do these teams get these players. Guess what, Calder and Ford were top goal scorers in the WCHA last year, so maybe it is just that much harder to come by goals and points in the NCHC.
  5. For all we know it could just be a friends thing with Moore and Chesley that had Cooley picking Minnesota. We saw how a young Minnesota defense did a few years ago against Pinto, Kawaguchi etc., and I imagine Minnesota will be losing some guys like Faber and Johnson. They may only get one year with Cooley, so we'll see if they are too young on the back end to take advantage of that.
  6. It does get thrown around too much, but the same people that get upset about losing an undisputed blue chipper like Cooley, get bent out of shape by losing guys that could be hit and miss.
  7. Didn’t someone point out that we had more first round picks over the last couple decades than the rest of our league combined?
  8. I’m confused, are you making an argument for or against recruiting these types of players!
  9. Are they looking to copy Michigan in turning over players in a one and done or two years at most scenario? We have yet to see proof that works. We will see if Michigan can change that this year.
  10. For my benefit, let UND win on Friday. Don't know if I can take having to win on Saturday to keep our pairwise in decent shape.
  11. Didn't look like anything to me, and certainly not something that deserved a suspension. However, if a UND player did the same thing to a gopher player, I am sure gopher fans would be saying how cheap it was and should carry a hefty suspension.
  12. There have been plenty times this year that I wish we had played with that level of exuberance and passion. Hope UND can be buzzing that way this weekend and down the stretch.
  13. It would be nice to know how many hits made by Kleven have been reviewed. It is getting ridiculous, especially when they don’t seem to be reviewing other cheap stuff that is going on. Wonder if Schlossman has access to information as to how many plays have been reviewed across the league and the leaders individually and team wise.
  14. It really is up to Berry to pin down the league on why one is a suspension and the other isn’t, so he can have that in his holster for the future. But we’re talking about a head of officials that looks past Paukovich’s blow that caused Robbie Bina’s neck injury. Who knows, Adam might let the truth slip out and say, “because one plays for Denver and the other for UND.”
  15. Kind of figured that's what happened. I imagine they were afraid that the number of people in the last wave might overwhelm the system. Maybe they should have split the numbers in each wave even further to prevent that, but it is what it is. I'm in the arena, so just have to look at opportunities to upgrade from here until October.
  16. Actually, if you hit the change button it asks you if you want to accept or release the tickets, then if you say release, it brings you back and you start all over and it just gives you the same seats unless someone else has taken them. I find it odd that you would put on your seating chart "The End UND Shoots Twice" when you can't change your preference to that end. I'm like you, got tickets, but really not happy at all about sitting at the opposite end that I want to sit. Some people do go for the game along with the other fanfare.
  17. How do you do that, it picked best available for me, and was worried to go back for fear of losing my ability to use my presale number..
  18. You're lucky you are not cancelled even though there wasn't any malicious intent. Seems it is hard to make an honest mistake now without it being an unforgivable infraction.
  19. Same here, which would possibly give us Omaha for two weeks in a row, which would be the same scenario for St. Cloud / Duluth. Could get ugly.
  20. Even so, they could be a scary team to face in the postseason. Duluth hasn't had great league finishes and still caught fire in the postseason. Could use a little help from them this weekend against Western Michigan.
  21. So can Berry make it clear to the team that because of those games, if they lose once this weekend they most likely won’t make the NCAA tourney short of winning the NCHC Faceoff? Of course it doesn’t seem to click until after it’s too late. It took them forever to focus in on playing well on Friday, well this weekend is a must if they want to keep up with other teams in the pairwise.
  22. But Covid had us playing Omaha without Sanderson.
  23. Just like playing Omaha without Sanderson did us no favors.
  24. Why would you have WMU as set at #2 when they aren’t even there now, and still have to play Denver at St. Cloud and here? We should have Sanderson back when we play Western, and they aren’t as dominant on the road. And if St. Cloud can’t return the favor to WMU, they may be fighting it out with Omaha for sixth. I definitely would rather play Omaha than St. Cloud though.
  25. But we play some of those teams above us and same goes for other teams. A sweep against Duluth or Western would go along way. If St. Cloud starts to beat those teams as well, things could change fast.
