  1. Buning is not on vacation. He's at a conference of Athletic Directors.
  2. Delaying the exploratory year until next year would be a good idea. Why would that be funny for you? The Bison did it. It gives the school a chance to get it's financial house in order (i.e., big donors), gives student-athletes a chance to transfer if need be. The problem is, now that UND is going to make the move, you're moving the bar a little bit to try and make it look foolish.
  3. This is a slam dunk. The location tells it all. They are going D-1. The only question is: Will the exploratory year be this year or next?

    Sad News

I sure hope that Jeff-Jeff has a nice turnout at his funeral. I don't think he had a lot of family in the area. He deserves it.
  5. Best. Post. Ever.
  6. Maybe we could call it the "Fiddy Cent".

    Sad News

Sorry to have to report this, but a good friend to many of us and a great friend to Fighting Sioux Athletics, Jeff Anderson, died yesterday. "Jeff-Jeff" as he was known to most, worked for a long time at the Old Ralph and was very close to many of the coaches, players, and fans of UND. A true character. He will be missed.
  8. You are HEREBY tackled.
  9. The recruits coming in were ALL brought in by Colontino (as well as the transfer). They can change their mind upon hearing of his departure.
  10. I really hope you weren't being serious with that question. This program is going to bottom out in the next two months. It will be the biggest loss to date in the women's program. A conservative guess is that 3-4 more players are going to leave the program as well. The Woosters left because they couldn't stand playing for Rivard anymore. Then the University sent out a Press Release that was full of BS concerning their departure. UND and Grand Forks are losing a great man and a great coach in Paul Colontino. The handwriting is on the wall and he's getting the hell out of here. Rivard will be fired at the end of this upcoming season. She would have been fired this year, but some in the administration thought it wouldn't look good because she was pregnant. I would not consider myself a women's hockey fan, but I know what's going on with this departure and it is complete Bull Sh*t.

    DI Decision

NDSU's only chance of ever being on TV again is by playing the SIOUX.
  12. You might be crazy. But then again, I don't know you. You're right though. The bison faithful all of a sudden have a lot of interest in the inner-workings of the Fighting Sioux Athletic Dept.
  13. Tony, you're going to wear yourself out! Giggling like school girls on bisonville concering the report and then racing back here to ask questions.
  14. Yikes This is a pretty scary notion. WDAZ, REA, and Midcontinent partner to form one of the most formidable sports broadcasting entities in the Midwest. Outside of FSN in Minneapolis, who cover college athletics to the degree of FSSN? The D-1 school to the south would die, die, die to have this current arrangement. FSSN covers a hell of a lot more than "NE North Dakota" as you put it. "Dump WDAZ"? I don't think so.
  15. UND appealed and was granted a 30 day extension.
  16. Not really. Buning never said anything about conference affiliation. The last paragraph is a fallacy. Dr. Boyd said that UND realizes they won't be asked to join a conference until they state their intentions. This AP report lacks several of the key items I've already mentioned.
  17. Among other things: He said with NDSU, SDSU, and UNC gone, the NCC is not the same, and that there aren't the same quality schools to replace them. Also, he said upon arriving at UND, he's learned that being at the top of D2 is not offering enough rewards. That the cost of D2 is increasing and so why not spend a little more and go D1, where the rewards and privilages are far greater. He was very direct and straight forward with his comments.
  18. He did, in fact say that. And quite a bit more.
  19. Actually we learned quite a bit. Tom Buning said now is the time to go D-1. He said if he were asked by President Kupchella for his personal opinion, he said he'd tell him that D-1 is now the way to go and that D2 is costing too much money with too little return.
  20. My apologies, Iowa Bison.
  21. Nano, let the inner-Sioux fan in yourself come out. Denounce your Bison leanings. We'll baptize you in the Hockey Rehab pool.
  22. She stipulated that the Spirituality Center was to look like the one in Santa Barbra.
  23. I know that you're trying to be funny, but I know you'll be happy to hear that $1 Million will go towards the donor's wishes and the remaining $9 MILLION can be used in any way the University wishes.
