Gopher fans do not boo opposing players who are from Minnesota. If that was the case we'd be booing every time an opposing player touches the puck. I've had season tickets for the gophers since '89 and booing players from Minnesota has never been an issue. Marty Sertich got a very nice ovation from the Mariucci crowd about a month ago when they were in town. Kessel in Madison, and the potulny's and Irmen in Grand Forks get booed more than any opposing player has at Mariucci. We're used to Minnesotans playing on other teams. Did you know that last year at the Frozen Four, 42% of the players involved were from Minnesota? It's old hat for us to see other rosters filled with Minnesotans, therefore we are rarely bitter about losing a player(with the exception of Z. Parise).

Why would the pros want Stafford or Zajac next year? both of them have yet to consistantly take over games at the college level.

In the old building the pep band was 85% of the music between action, right? I remember during crucial times when the Sioux needed something to happen, the band would crank up "march on Sioux" and it got everyone pumped up. Now you need the scoreboard to tell the crowd to make noise accompanied by Tears for Fears - "shout" or "stand up and shout" - lame move- "Rock Star." Also, the video intro has been weak since the first one - "new ice, same tradition." I'd say bring that back. i'm gonna apply for the entertainment director position next year.

A little off-topic but 2 former Sioux players were in action last weekend in the Twin Cities. Peter Armbrust ('97 / '00 captain) and Matt Henderson ('97 / FF MVP) were on the 2nd place team in the USA Pond Hockey Championship held on Lake Calhoun. Spiewak was supposed to be on the roster but couldn't make it so they picked up former Gopher......Tyler Hirsch. Their team was also featured on Rosens Sports Sunday. It was a great event that I'm sure will turn into an annual tournament.

Last year we had less talent but more "heart." i don't ever remember a "Sioux" team lay down like that. dissappointing to say the least...........

Hey bert- if you want the Sioux in the final this year. Give up the lame "goofer" rule and play the afternoon game on Friday, which would be customary for a #3 seed in a nuetral site tourney like this. Goofers Suck!!!!!!!!!
