Scheels and NDSU work very closely with promotions throughout the year. I think the Friday pep rally's before football games is a good idea that builds some excitement for the games, especially for kids, and draws a crowd to Scheels. This donation in my mind is long overdue.

Danno, read my post. I didn't say anything even close to what you claim. Actually I said both universities could potentially benefit but said that not every person who profits will give money. Do I need to repost it or have someone read it to you? The amount of money changing hands out there daily is crazy and believe it or not some people who are getting wealthier are already boosters at either school. Do you think its a stretch to believe that they may give more money now? Maybe you should reread my post before you start calling me out.

Good job, you named two towns with a very small percentage of population of where the oil activity is. How about the owner of the Trappers Inn in Belfield, has people staying there who drive 2+ hours to work everyday. Or any electrician out west, or concrete worker. Ever been through the McDonalds in Williston? Car dealerships? There is more to the oil money than just the people receiving royalty checks and more area than the couple handful of businesses in Parshall or New town. I can name a couple handful of businesses from Fargo alone that filled there work schedules for the year doing excavating, utility placement, home building etc. out in the oil field. I'm not in the camp that every person who makes money out there is going to give to a university or even spend it. But with how much money is spent out there every day some of it is going to find its way into the hands of someone who gives to either university. And for the few businesses that have closed in New Town or Parshall there are more that have opened in Dickinson, Williston, Minot, Stanley etc. Main Streets closing in small town ND is the norm, not the exception to the oil patch.
-
Your way off base here. Have you been out west and talked to all the business owners, whether its a restraunt owner, appliance store, or electrical company there are a ton of money making money on this oil. Some of these people have had years that are off the charts and are the envy of store owners across the country, all due to oil activity. And yes, a lot of those people where giving money before and are giving now.

I know this one is true. Also Cal Poly and USD. Sioux falls is still on the schedule as well and another NAIA. They are trying to get that one replaced and I don't know who the sixth game is against. If we could just add two FCS at home, even if we kept one NAIA the home schedule would be alright. The road schedule will be brutal with SUU and Davis. Add Idaho and Fresno St.
-
I'm hoping its because they are actively looking to replace a few of the home games.
-
Well it looks like TCU has accepted the Big East invite for all sports. More shuffling around out west will now happen and the WAC is still a mess.
-
Which was against a team we used to beat handily in the playoffs and beat by 40+ points the year before. Not exactly the recipe for a huge crowd. I mean if the dome only is 2/3's full for the first playoff game ever, how full would you expect it to be against Bob Morris after kicking their ass for 3 years in a row.
-
Hahaha, good for you. You may be better than them at something they may not have. Did it take you all night to think of that? Thanks for the great laugh to start my Saturday. Now I have to go clean the coffee off of my computer screen.

Good call Bin. I'm picking Stephen F. Austin from the top as a sleeper. There always seems to be an unseeded team to make a run in FCS and I'll take that offense to win a lot of shootouts in the playoffs. From the bottom I'll pick Deleware. I think they where the best team throughout the coarse of the season and expect that to continue. I think Deleware will win it all. I was in Dickinson the other day and they had a huge write up about Mont. St. in the paper. I guess they cover the BSC a lot there. Anyways I didn't realize Mont. St. has a freshman qb who was the MVP of the Big Sky. They also have a younger defense. I like them but don't think now is their time. As far as today, I'll take Coastal Carolina, ndsu, UNI and Georgia Southern.
-
Well, Notre Dame is superior to ndsu in everything right now. So whats your point? And don't mean to bust your bubble but they did a poll in Minneapolis about the most popular sport on UMn campus and hockey won hands down. Not that I care but I was living in Minneapolis at the time and was pretty suprised.
-
But I'm sure most of it is how much the bid is.
-
It was changed the year UND went down and beat UNI. That wasn't ndsu's first season as a D1 school.
-
But 2 is the most important. Once we are playoff elgible we NEED to get to 7 wins vs. FCS or higher to even be considered for the playoffs. You can still accomplish 1 and 3 by scheduling a Valpo like team and accomplish 2 in the process.

Maybe Muss will have to step in this year and take over the play calling duties. As a head coach though you have to have trust in your coordinators, if not why have them around. Like I said in my post, I think the coaching staff has a system they would like to run but didn't have the players with experience to fit that system yet. In years past we would have tweaked it a little to fit our personel, this year it looks like they stuck with it. I don't have a problem with that as it gives our young guys experience running a system and it shows exactly what you need to recruit and what type of player you need to find.

Keep us up to date Marlin on what we can do to help. Stay strong. You and your family are in our prayers. God bless you as you begin your fight.

Its not all of Faison. There is an agreement out there that they could both give a little and come to an agreement. If he would take the every other year offer I could care less but for Taylor to just throw his offer out there and than point the finger and say he's not accepting our offer shows his arrogance. If you ask random people across the state how often they want the game to be played a vast majority would say every year. I have no problem with our AD and coaches digging in a little and not giving in and not stroking Taylors ego. Once the USD vs. SDSU game starts there will be even more pressure by the fans across ND to get the game started again.
-
Actually yeah. An FCS win still counts towards a FBS teams win total to get to 6-5 and be bowl elgible. A D2 or lower does not count for an FCS teams win total to get into the playoffs (see Montana this year)
-
Now that is a well thought out post. Hard to disagree with it and I don't think you where to harsh at all.
-
Yep, he wants it so bad he's willing to give in to Taylors demands.
-
ndsu didn't choose who they had to play. Also, a win in the postseason is a big deal and when its the first at home in 20+ years its kind of historic for a lot of fans.

The things I like: -Obviously Muss has an offensive system he wants to run and seems to be recruiting the players to fit it. So far we have recruited a little bit smaller O-linemen, small, quick WR's, and quick RB's. I would not mind giving him time to let him get the players to fit his system to see what he can do. He has proven in the past that when he has the talent to run what he would like he runs a good offense. In the past Muss has changed his offensive system to fit his players, this year he seems to be sticking with this system even though the players weren't there and I don't mind that. - Anyone who has been around Muss can't deny that he relates to players pretty well. - We finally are in a conference. Nothing to do with Muss but can only help in recruiting which in turn will put more talent on the field. - Muss truely has the schedule anyone, anytime mentality. He has that arrogance as a coach and he's not afraid of a challenge. He doesn't just say it and than turn around and not believe it. He's an arrogant man and this is times where thats a good thing. Things I don't like: - Team record. - At times I wonder about some players effort and if they truely care about what Muss and the coaching staff think. I know with our previous two coaches you didn't dare take a play off because you didn't want a coach to see that on film. Didn't want to let them down. I'm not in the locker room so I don't know this about Muss. - Enough about going toe to toe and moral victories. I know its lip service and he's trying to keep the fans interested when we are having a down year but I'm tired of hearing it.
-
I'll play too. If Gene would agree to a home and home contract with the game happening two consecutive years it would happen. Boy pointing the finger at someone else is pretty easy. I see why you guys do it all the time.

Maybe won't improve the team but it counts for something and a DII or NAIA doesn't. This years playoff selections proved its better to have a poor FCS over a DII
