I'd say the amount of money potentially involved in a buyout, location, ability to add sports and scholorships to meet BSC criterea, funding available in the athletic budget to ease some travel costs and one already having a signed contract to another conference. These are more than slight differences between UND and USD. Each has to do what is best for them while staying within their capabilities. Every post you have is like the sky is falling. Its not. UND is still in a pretty good situation.
-
Like a guy on Bisonville and my buddy Jack down in Sioux Falls. Neither has ties to USD.
-
Why is this such a bad deal. So we are not in a conference with a couple other schools, we are still in a pretty good conference that we weren't in last week. UND and USD where in two completely different situations. UND had no conference affiliation and when one was presented you have to take it. USD was in the Summit and had obligations to that conference. They had high costs in moving around and it maybe didn't work out. Good luck to them where ever they end up but I still believe that UND has an opportunity to create our own path in the Big Sky.
-
Saying that someone would be a welcome guest at the party and actually inviting them to the party are two different things. If its true though than good luck to USD. Like I said earlier I have no problem being the only one of the Dakotas in the Big Sky. Its another nonconference game we could schedule and doesn't affect our membership in the league. They may have a decision to make and thats a good thing for them.

As much as I would love to see USD continue with us I wouldn't lose any sleep if they stayed in the Summit/MVFC. The Big Sky how it is now set up offers UND the opportunity for a nice television market. It puts us with some schools who truely care about academics and want to align themselves with other schools that do as well. It puts us in a market that has a HUGE population base to potentially continue our growth. It gives us something different to offer recruits from around the region. Maybe travel will be more but there are is also more to gain by taking the leap. There is obviously vision within the conference. The presidents, AD and commissioner where not going to wait around as they see the potential that is there and I am glad UND is a part of it. The Summit/MVFC is a nice conference and one I would be happy with as well but I wouldn't mind being the odd man out in the Dakotas. There is a lot of potential having the opportunity in offering something different

Well said Dan. +++++++

This is a great idea and would give the BSC even more exposure that would cover a huge area and wouldn't even cost much to get going. Everything is already in place. This has been my thought on regional recruiting argument, sure the trips may be longer but the tv capabilities are so much better with the BSC its a huge plus for kids and families.
-
Both places are ok but I think Bison fans are trying to write off all kids due to location. I would use location as a recruiting tool. Play in front of 20,000 in Montana. Play a couple games in California. Travel to Colorado (cheap flight for family by the way). Its all relative to what the kid is loking for. Plus the huge positive of being able to expand your recruiting base into some great areas. Just like the Bison recruit more out of Illinois and Nebraska we will move further west. where there is a much, much larger population base. I know some are looking for negatives but you really have to grab at straws to find one.
-
But kids may like going to play in warmer climates in a pretty well known conference nationally. With travel, if the Montana's stay and the conference is cut into two divisions the travel isn't going to be bad.

I know Jake got some flack at times and I was one of them but this is a tough way to end it. I just want to say thanks to Jake for putting the time into the program and best of luck in the future. No matter how things went at times I know you where a leader who set a good example on and off the field.

Well said. Our young players we are playing this year are sure going to get thrown into the fire next year. They are going to be relied upon to take a lot of snaps while next year again we will have very young back ups. Its going to take time to build depth and some guys are just going to have to step up. No doubt about it. Hopefully getting a bunch of young guys competing this offseason will really help everyone improve. The only starting position that will be locked up come spring time is Brenneman. Scary but somewhat exciting at the same time.
-
I know. I was being a little sarcastic as once again its all UND's fault. Both schools are doing what is in there best interest and I understand that. I was just pointing out that it goes both ways as both AD's have their feet planted firmly in the ground.
-
Don't like the thread but I will throw my two cents in anyways. Muss deserves another year and the coaching staff deserves another year. What I have noticed this year is you will be competitive at this level with solid QB play. This year ours has been to inconsistant. We have some good young kids that this staff brought in who I think deserve a shot next year. I think we will be starting a freshman at qb next year so I will wait until than to see what happens.
-
Didn't Gene turn down an offer as well?
-
God bless the young man and his family.

I apologize as well. My post may have drifted it.

Well UND wasn't playing this weekend so you don't have to worry about anyone getting confused. I see where the logic comes from now. This sums up Bison logic. I love how all your fans throw all your players under the bus and say how !@#!$ they are. The Bison have some great fans but they also know how to treat there own like garbage. The best part is somewhere in there you whining about how hard your conference is. Thanks for a couple laughs today.
-
You are way off. Clearly they meant Notre Dame. Bison logic never stops amazing me. Thank you for giving me a laugh today. Whats even funnier is you actually believe what you wrote.

2 words that will never be in the same sentence as Brewster: 1) Discipline 2) Talent

Sounds like a good time. I know there are a lot of fans here who like drinking the Premium. Oh man did you just see the Minnesota defensive pick 6 that ended up not being one. They are terrible.
-
Don't get to wrapped up with the recruits. Lets face it right now recruits coming in know they have the chance to contribute immediately to the program. We don't have much in the junior class. Kids today care more about potentially playing right away. The coaches also have to sell that the program is going in the right direction. It may not seem like it is but we have a bunch of young kids getting very quality minutes while we won't be graduating to much that will affect us next year. Times are tough now but I believe brighter days are ahead.

Sioux by 14. USD's d-line pretty much quit last week against the Bison and the secondary hasn't been impressive this year. UND's young team may start out a little slow but the defense will keep them in it until the offense gets rolling.
-
The Yotes ran out of gas as your defense seemed to fold the tent in the second half. It was not as much of the bison dominating up front as it was your guys just going through the motions. Your offense is pretty good. And your right, playing at home will be a huge advantage. Playing most of the game trapped in the south end of the Fargodome with the students killed your offense and they looked like a mess. I know USD will be hungry this week and will throw everything they have at the Sioux. If this game was in the Alerus I'd say the Sioux win handily. Taking our very young team to the Dakotadome and the toughest environment we played in yet will be a challenge.
-
We where discussing a game of one of our conference members..... You guys are obviously hung up on UND as there seems to be a new UND thread every day there. Thanks for caring so much about Fighting Sioux athletics though Danno.

Sioux win this one big and keep rolling......................... Sioux- 38 NW St.- 10 Good luck fellas. Looking forward to tomorrow.
