  1. I have to agree with bin that this years team (as of now) appears to give Muss a little more flexibility to coach to win. The games that stand out to me during our transition that sum it up better than the FBS games are the Montana and South Dakota St games. In those games we struggled to complete 5-10 yard out and curl routes. Getting a 4th and 10+ during those times would have required a penalty to convert.

The part of me that agrees with Oxbow however was when we sat on the ball before half when we did have a lead vs. Idaho. That was disappointing but I think with the offense we have now, we go for the points. I was interested to se what would have happened last week vs. Portland if we wouldn't have blocked that punt before half to set up the TD. Would we have went for the points and just been happy taking a 4 point lead into half?

  2. It's amazing to see a discussion like this here on SS. On Bisonville a discussion like this would be buried in the commons area. There have been comments over there about your last round of problems with football players, but no headline articles.

Sioux jealousy at its finest, on display, in its uncut, disgusting version.

I don't think any of us are jealous of having 10 players on our roster with an upcoming court date that will be widely covered and bring all of this up again and force answers again from your coach, AD and president.

  3. Your desire for clarification is based upon something other than genuine concern for the players and the program. NDSU's president is making decisions based upon genuine concern for the players and the program. He doesn't care about your misplaced concern. That's why it makes no sense to you. Everyone that really cares about Bison football wants this thing cleared up, and for players to be handed the appropriate punishments.

Is that the original no punishment or the one that will come after this clarification or the next clarification. Also, what level of the 4 levels of punishment will be the correct level for those truely concerned with Bison football? How about those concerned with the state of ND voting laws and your Gene and Craig's misplaced concern about those?

  4. This thread speaks for itself. It's UND fans who are fixated on North Dakota State Football. I can remember this same attitude from the beginnings of the Bison dynasty in the 60s. Jealousy is the emotion that drives it.

This is the 2nd time this week your president has had to clear up comments made earlier by your coach and AD. Even without your trolling and trying your best to get this thread closed down, your administration is keeping this in the news. I wonder if this 4 layers of punishment is a new thing or only implemented during the season? Its never been an issue before this. I wonder what the next clarification is going to be. I'll have my popcorn ready.

  5. I think it is moreso getting bored rather than deflecting. The entire thread for the longest time, "OMG OMG OMG HEADS MUST ROLL! DISENFRANCHISEMENT! TAYLOR! BOHL! AAARRHGHGHGHGGH!" If this is the worst stuff NDSU will have to deal with, I will be very pleased because it is nothing major.* I didn't say it is not to be taken seriously, but it isn't worth the attention it has gotten. No sexual crimes, no violent crimes.

*cue UND folks to compare them to the Klan, Nazis, etc.

*My bottom post was the most relevant to the thread, and also had the most information in it. I am willing to bet that other posters will focus on the shorter ones rather than the one closest to the thread.

What Taylor was really trying to say in his comments about these actions. They aren't as serious as the sex crimes our football team had to deal with both a month ago and last year. They aren't as serious as the drug crimes we had to face two years ago with a major crime bust and one of our players being a dealer. They aren't as serious as the large internal theft ring we had going on a few years ago from Best Buy and also the computer theft one of our WR's was released from team for. They aren't as serious as the string of DUIs that we had.

He should have just come out and said, in the last 3-4 years this football team and football program have experience with some major crimes. When ranking these to the list of those above, this one doesn't deal with drugs, alcohol or theft. And no one got hurt here except for the feelings of these players who were truely the victims in all of this.

  6. molden, I can respect some of your opinions and agree with you that the Bison fans I work with are very embarrassed by this and as much as they would like to try and sweep it away, understand its a HUGE blackeye to the program from the general public's perception.

I do however continue to find it comical that you and some of your fanbase always seems to point to our hockey program to justify actions during this situation and bring up things that happened 4-5 years ago as examples. As I mentioned earlier, I don't know if you want to revisit the last 5 years of off the field issues of your football program. Now you are also comparing "rumors" to try and justify your current situation. Somehow dragging UND into this is what got myself and other UND fans on the defensive in the first place. We had nothing to do with it. Our hockey and football programs had nothing to do with this situation and have never been involved in anything like this. The backpedaling being done by your president was caused by the actions of your AD and coach and no one else.

  7. I was at Scheels tonight and wonder if they would be willing to donate to the IPF. I understand they probably wouldn't give the $5 million they gave to NDSU for their basketball arena but even half that would get us started on the IPF. With the commitment they made to the new store in Grand Forks along with how well UND merchandise sells in Fargo (I don't want to get anyone too butt hurt over conversations I've had), I'd say the school has made them some good money. It would be a nice investment to open the new store.

  8. Apparently there's a process going on that people on the outside don't know about.

I don't know of one fan of the Bison that wants to support a dirty program. We are not a win-at-any-cost group. We're proud of the type of program that Coach Bohl has been running. He has a 10 year record of consistent, fair, and firm dealings with players. The conference season is still almost 3 weeks away. Apparently there's a process that no one on the outside is privy to. I can't predict what will happen, but it's clear that NDSU has not completed the process.

Where is the part about the lawyer that represents the football team? I know all students have access to him but I'm sure he was a little more readily available in this case. This was an "oh !@#$, we have egg on our face e-mail". Damage already done.

  9. This is not further defense of what these guys did so do not take it that way, but why is the obvious being overlooked on this? These measures would not have made it onto the ballot anyway. If they needed fraudulent names to get over the number then they didn't have the numbers they needed to get on the ballot. Nobody's right to vote is being infringed on so there is no need to sensationalize this by evoking war heroes and their memories, that lacks taste to bring up in this situation IMO.

The Terra group is in business to make money. No different than your business is.

Lets look at it this way. If someone gives me $XXX to build a house in Fargo, Bismarck, Minot, Grand Forks and Dickinson, as a business owner I am going to send the minimum amount of people I need to each location to get the job done in the allotted time. During the time I'm given, I am going to monitor the progress at each location and I'm only going to send more people if I seem to be falling behind at any of the locations. Every extra person I send out costs me more money so if the people I have working for me "appear" to be keeping pace, why as a business owner would I send extra help and add extra cost? Truth is, the actions of those responsible will never give us a chance to know if it would have made the ballot and as far as being on future ballots, that is not going to come free of charge to those involved.

  10. I think the criticism that is valid is how conservative we are vs FBS teams. Maybe this year with a capable QB it will be a different story. Remember Northern Illinois finished top 25 and won a bowl and we had the ball at the end with a chance to win because Jake Landry could throw. Last year Joey(shoulda played D2) Bradley couldn't throw and the game plan was SUPER conservative. This year I bet they ride Hendricksons confidence and go for SDSU's throat. The difference between Bohl and Mussman in recent years is that Bohl had some talent to win with Mussman has finally gotten through the talentless wasteland that was left to him by Lennon. I say judge Mussman against FBS teams with this game and not the previous ones where he had teams with huge holes.

You worded things a little different than I would have but I agree with you. Let's be honest, in years past we haven't had the complete talent to beat FBS teams. That is not meant as a knock on the players at that time but the results of games during that time speaks for itself. Hopefully this year is different. The offense I saw last week was exciting and has some serious skill guys. An offense that can truely carry our defense. The defense absolutely has to play better, no doubt. The big thing will be mistakes. We cannot afford to muff punts, throw ints., miss tackles, jump offisides, etc. We are not good enough to do that and I'm excited to see if the guys can rise to the challenge.

  11. It's time for me to leave this hallowed blog. All of the responses are Sioux-like. Decades upon decades of the same chatter, whether it be online or word of mouth. I had to come here to test the waters to see if it was still around. Ya'll can't see how tainted your motivations are. I've seen enough. Bye

Thanks for answering the question. Bye.

Thats just the ones that are public knowledge. Put it this way, he was not suspended a year for driving offenses.

  13. Glad to see all the love for Bison football. Through the years we've always counted on Sioux fans to be the judge and jury for the Bison. When there's trouble with UND's flagship program, meaning hockey, we're all over it at bisonville. Not. Came over to see the rumored chatter. Don't tell me that your hockey team is full of good boys. Don't tell me that there's never in-house decisions on how relevant a discipline problem is. But I know that you will, because that's the dynamic of this loving relationship. Sioux hockey is clean. Bison football is not. That's the mindset of a Sioux fan. It's been that way for decades. zzzzzzzzz

You know, when we moved up to DI we received so much love from Sioux fans. It was underwhelming. Even though you had an invitation from us to join us in the move, you tried to paint it as something else. And because of that great degree of love, ya'll have absolutely no credibility on the topic of our problems, which will remain our problems, which will be dealt with by the people that we hire to deal with our problems. Ya'll know nothing about what's going on besides what the media is pushing. You don't care about the Bison players or the program. Never did. Never will. So your opinions are irrelevant.

But keep pretending that your opinions matter, because that's your history too. You've always wanted to have your flagship program, and you've always resented ours, and you've manifested your resentment so beautifully, with cancellations of all athletics, and efforts to be involved in who works at North Dakota State.

I've supported UND in its efforts to keep the Sioux name. I've supported UND hockey through the years. I've been an advocate of having only one DI hockey program in North Dakota. But I don't pretend to know what goes on within the hockey program. I assume that the paid professionals know how to handle the program and its players. I assume that the leadership at UND is the only entity capable of doing so. They get the benefit of my doubt, and I certainly don't trust the media when it tries to get involved in said program.

Ok....So how many strikes does a starting RB get at NDSU?

  14. Fair enough, probably a good approach. I think the kicker for the coach and ad is that they are being advised that the case will likely be plead at a lesser level than the current charge . . . thus the stance of letting this thing play out. Even if there is a lesser Plea below a Class A Mis, at least a one game suspension is likely, so why not do it up front.

Your coach ruled that one out today? No suspensions will come. Question for you and other Bison fans- How many strikes does a starting running back get at NDSU?

  15. Mike McFeeley is all over the Travis Beck situation on his twitter account. Looks like he is not giving up any time soon.

This is the kind of stuf Gene Taylor brought upon his athletic department with his comments on Saturday. I know it was bad before but after the comments KFGO and the Forum are going to be huddled around the police scanners waiting for the next NDSU athlete to get arrested. And now it doesn't matter if its a member of the dance team, everyone is going to be compared to these guys and it starts with Travis Beck. No one would have known any different about Beck's summer arrest, but now the questions begin- Why did he already play two games and why will he be allowed to be on strike 4 if drinking and running from the law(resisting arrest) are taken so seriously? This isn't going away anytime soon and although the players may not deserve it, it couldn't happen to a better guy than Gene Taylor.

  16. The biggest thing we need to come around right now is our depth with the 2nd unit defense. When Daryl Brown came out our 2nd unit dbacks gave up some big plays and when we tried to rotate in our 2nd and some 3rd unit d-line and LB's we got beat on the option read play they ran time and time again. These guys need to get their feet under them and make some plays. Hopefully the experience helps with that. We are going to see some pretty good rb's and some outstanding wr's in the next few months and our first unit will not be able to be on the field all game.

Right now I am more concerned about our lack of pressure on the qb than anything else. I am confident our tackling will improve and we have guys that can run but we're asking a lot of our db's and our offense if we can't find a way to get some pressure.

  17. This one is pretty tough for Bohl and Taylor:

    - it's a second alcohol offense for the kid (class B misdemeanor)

    - he also resisted a law officer (is this a class A misdemeanor or a B misdemeanor?)

    - he hasn't been suspended

    - he's still on the team

    So which is it?

Hard-core stance on misdemeanors meaning you're gone ala Jemison, or

We're tough on fighting and booze (but not fraud) misdemeanors, or

The "their day in court" misdemeanors.

A second MIP, with a bonus, a resisting charge, hasn't kept this one off the field yet.

I'm sure he had to do some extra conditioning as well. Maybe a couple extra sprints or something to really teach him a lesson.

  18. Don't change the facts to fit your argument. Coach Bohl knew about this weeks before the CSU game per the articles everyone is quoting. If he wanted to react quickly to this he could have very easily suspended them all for the RMU game, a game that we could have won without any one of our starters. So to say that the timing is suspect and he delayed the process to make sure two starters could play in the CSU game is disingenuous.

You said earlier he suspended Jemison cause he knew about it and had a conversation with BJ and that is why he got suspended so quickly. If he knew about this for weeks before, and the players obviously admitted their guilt. Why no suspension?
