  1. Don't know. It's all hush/hush as with all of our current injuries. Some say by NAU which is the 5th of Oct. and others say longer. It's his throwing shoulder and it was dislocated at SMU. Hope our Payday$$$$ was worth it. We have bye week after our visit with you guys. Our injury report usually comes out Sunday evening and now it's Monday night and I still haven't heard anything from the SFA game. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Just saw the tweet that WR Brian Flotkoetter is doubtful for the game this weekend. 6'2" 210+ lb. big body wideout. The injuries are really piling up for the Cats right now.

  2. Something I feel like people are overlooking is the fact that UND is adding this to their lineup in 2013:

    6'9" - Calcaterra

    6'9" - Salmonson

    6'8" - Nash

6'6" - Traylor (only played a couple games last year before Xmas)

That is some serious depth up front that they can keep shuttling in and out.

That will be big. We really struggled last year when Brekke missed time with the concussion.

  3. A new take from Ryan Bakken: Face it, NDSU doesn’t need UND

The last paragraph of the article is the one I have the biggest problem with. In the first few years FU was in the MVFC their fans were not familiar with the opponents either. It took a sideline fight with UNI for that rivalry to really take off, it took some losses on the road to YSU for fans to really understand that program. Little things are what will stick with fans and get rivalries started, like faking an extra point when you are up by 30.

The rest of the article is nothing nobody knew before. It is up to UND to get their level of play to the point that FU has interest in the game.

  4. cats offense is not as good as the jacks and certainly not as good as Montana.

cats defense will be similar to the jacks but i believe not as good.

cats injuries has really thinned them out.

now is the time for payback from the beating we took last year.

They still have a running back that tore us up last year and we have not proven we can stop the run for an entire game. I'm not comparing this game to anything other than our game with the Cats last year.

  5. This is a must win (and its only week 4). I'm interested to see how the entire team bounces back. Will there be any changes to the lineup since we had the bye week? Will some of these younger players start getting more reps? Will Adams finally be healthy enough to start getting reps?

Hoping to see the team bounce back. I would like to see some discipline and intensity for 4 quarters.

  6. I saw that. The Nebraska fans are longing for the days of the old Blackshirts. Will be interesting to see what Zenner does next week against NDSU next weekend, they've held him in check every time they've played him.

They will have to run the ball next weekend to have any shot at all. Sumner can't turn it over either. FU capitalizes on those

  7. I enjoy jokes at the expense of the AC as much as anyone, but what I don't find quite as funny is the thought of our guy Muss recruiting "toe to toe" with Bohl. Having this ESPN infomercial to push demand is downright frightening.

    Why even bother trying anymore?

  8. At this level, I don't think it's unusual for a new head coach to retain one or two assistants from the previous regime. Joe Glenn kept at least two of Meierkort's assistants. Bohl retained Vigen (and maybe more, I don't recall).

    And Bradley

  9. He makes a valid point. I know if I saw the type of crap that's being spewed on the board I would have second thoughts about letting my children be involved in UND athletics.

What part? Getting a great education? Being on a great campus? Having top notch facilities? Playing in the best conference in FCS? I could go on. There is nothing wrong with having expectations. We expect to win, not just participate. I think recruits should be excited to be part of a program that cares and is not satisfied with being average.

  10. I'm sure this season will do wonders for recruiting. How do you tell a kid to ignore how bad we are now and not look like we are desperate for him to come.

You sell the program, the school, the conference, opportunity for early playing time, etc. I don't know what our record is going to finish out this year. I do know UND has a lot to offer future players and its important to get those kids to campus so they can see it.

Last week I took a look at the roster and if you sort it by class its an interesting breakdown. If we aren't going to get player leadership from our upperclassmen, it is important to get it from the guys who will be around the next few years. We have a lot of Sophomores and RFr. who need to stay focused on improving.

  11. Cox and Cary do have nice size and I wonder what the deal is with Espanosa? Is he injured or something?

Carr at LB? I'm not sure how he could ever be a LB at 5'9 195? There's no way.

Our lbs don't tackle anyone anyways

  12. I have a couple questions. Do you think we have 3-4 style DEs? And do you think it hurts us to have such short small safeties?

No and yes. The DE we signed from Wisconsin last year is what our incoming DEs need to look like. About 260 lbs. Baylee Carr should be a lb.

Size is only part of it though. There is way more to our defensive struggles.

  13. So if Muss is fired.....who is on the short list of replacements? I will admit to having absolutely no clue on this one.

In my mind you open it up. Any candidate coming in here will have facilities nearly as good as anything in FCS. A team with some young talent that needs some leadership.

You may get a young FBS coordinator type coach. Possibly a current assistant coach in the Big Sky or another FCS conference or possibly some of the names mentioned earlier. I don't think you give it to anyone before opening it up.
