  1. Agreed. It seems like Und is satisfied in the Sky, period. So nothing will likely happen.

But, you have to believe that Und will inquire with the Summit/MVFC at some point just due to logistics. I also think that Summit BB could have a big upside (top 15 conf) if ORU came back, and make a push to compete with the new MVC.

I would be fine with the Summit for basketball, if it didn't cost us a football spot. I don't see the MVFC taking UND unless someone leaves. If that happens than who knows which side picks up the phone.

  2. Seems like a Summit/MVFC invite is there for the taking . . . although it's a lot more fun for some to sit back and do nothing except fuss and cry.

The only people talking about UND moving to the Summit is fans of teams already in the Summit, Jack and FU fans.

  3. I don't see a firestorm of transfers after this year. Certain things need to be addressed though.

For Carr specifically, he may decide to leave but the tweets are getting old. He has to decide if he wants to be part of the solution with the rest of his teammates or an individual. There have been a lot of people who have gone through a freshmen football season. Its not always easy or fun and your not longer "the guy". It gets better but constantly complaining about it isn't doing himself or his teammates any good.

  4. I haven't even read a herald article which so much as speculates on Muss' future. They've even stopped sending Miller to a big road game.

Even on this site, its the same small handful of people.

The apathy has officially set in.

Apathy? There is about two people left making excuses.

  5. Getting a game on FSN is going to be a good thing. Its a good opportunity for the program and the kids. Its a good thing to show recruits that even in a down year, our program is still getting games on regional and Nat'l TV with the new deal signed last week.

  6. I agree fully that Mollberg's day has come and gone. It's time to see what Bartles can do Start him against NAU and UNC One very hard game and one that we have a chance to win, this should show how he copes.

Mollberg just doesn't seem to live up to the hype that surrounded him when we picked him up. If nothing else, maybe if Mollberg is forced to watch from the sidelines, he might learn something. He sure hasn't up to this point.

Unless our Oline play improves, I don't think any other qb will do any better.

  7. Our O-line needs to stop being trained like WRs and RBs and start training like OL. Beef these guys up so they can pound on people throughout a game so it doesn't look like they are playing on roller skates getting pushed backwards.

Agility is great but if you can't move anyone around it does you no good. I've heard all year how agile our center is and the flexibility this gives us by being able to pull him, hasn't done much good.

  8. Has UND ran a true screen play all year? Seems a logical option under UNDs circumstances.

One that I remember. Problem is teams are getting pressure with 4 and we are missing blocks downfield.

  9. I'd be more concerned if no one cared. I agree the coaching situation needs to be ironed out first.

I think we will still land some quality recruits this year. I don't think we see anything until December.

  10. The cupboard is pretty bare. If the redshirt and true freshmen were as talented as they've been described they'd be playing right now and we wouldn't be staring down a 2-9 season. Personally, I'd like to see quite a bit of turnover on the roster in the next few years under a new coach. A lot of players currently on the team have no business playing college football.

If your entire group playing is sophomores on down we'd still be 2-9. Some guys have talent but aren't physically ready.

I'm still in the belief it's not as much talent as it is getting out coached and out prepared. Obviously need an upgrade at a few spots, but we need someone to get these guys believing again.

  11. Because its hard to write about UND athletics when you aren't allowed on campus.

    Thats only Bohl with McFeeley.

I saw Tom chatting with fans before, during and after the game yesterday. I'm sure he heard the same frustraitons he was writing about.

  12. What's up with the redshirt freshman sitting in the student section? I have never seen this before but noticed it yesterday.

I like it. They are approachable and they can see the fans frustration.

  13. I find it amusing that some are bringing up playoffs STILL for this team. Let me put it this way...ZERO chance at the playoffs and that number is too high!! This team has shown no ability to play consistent winning FB. They are 12 of 13 in scoring D in the BSC. Reality needs to set in for some and playoff talk needs to end ASAP. A disciplined well executed team win today would be a welcomed sight...let's start there.

Obviously you can only take it a game at a time. I want to see what type if discipline the team plays with today as well.

  14. With the expanded field I guess someone has to get in, but man, if your best win is NAU and you got crushed at home by everyone that matters...playoff expansion feels a lot like D2.

With the expanded field someone is getting in at 7-4. That said UND needs a lot of help and has to improve their play to get in.

  15. Some good news today- Midco and Fox College Sports reach a deal to televise all UND Midco broadcasts besides hockey on national tv. I'm glad to see this and some added exposure for UND football, women's hockey, men's and women's hoops and volleyball

  16. Interesting comment from SU's Phillips:

For the time being, Phillips is just fine impressing future recruits with an NDSU football game.

“We get a kid in the Fargodome on a fall Saturday for that intro … it just makes a real strong statement for NDSU,” Phillips said. “Quite frankly, our football success helps our program immensely in recruiting. I am of the belief just because you have a great football program doesn’t mean you can’t have a great basketball program.”

Unfortunately, BB recruits visiting UND this fall may have the opposite effect.

The funny thing about that quote is that a certain poster on Bisonville who is employed by FU and another who posts here and is a self proclaimed recruiting guru, try and knock UND for bringing recruits to hockey games during the winter recruiting season.

I agree with Saul's point. UND hockey is huge for a reason, they win. Volleyball this year proves that if a team wins in Grand Forks, it will get plenty of fan support and excitement.
