If you all wanted the same guys back on defense then I dont know what to say. Wow

Not saying I want everyone back but not sure bringing in 22 new players is a better solution.

If we had someone better, I would assume they would have been the starter, correct?

This is my thought.  You want to improve the secondary we need to retain the starters and being in competition.  I can’t think of one transfer that has come in the last few years and made an instant impact.

Hopefully retain Buchner and a healthy Fort is a starting point at safety.  Any improvement is either development or finding the right fit in the portal.

Well that should’ve been well known a decade ago coming out of the nickname debacle! Also could’ve hired DeBoer! But here we are, just figuring it out now that we need to win for respect!

UND can’t go around 0.500 every season and just expect everyone to just kiss their feet.

     But Western Illinois can…

He’s the best recruiter we’ve had in D1

IMO- Marty Rogers could be in that discussion as well both as a recruiter and a DB coach.  Interesting that he appears to be coaching high school ball in Missouri now.

  5. Off season development needs to be evaluated.  Not every player on our roster only had NSIC offers or is D2 caliber.  If I was to invest in anyone from either of the XDSU’s it wouldn’t be a coach.

The other thing that needs to be evaluated that has nothing to do with personnel is corporate sponsorship and other ways to get money into these programs.  I’m not going to pretend to know what some of these current sponsors are bringing to the table but there are a few “regional” names throwing money at the other Dakota schools right now at a time we seem to be dragging out Phase II and the off season facilities that potentially help get us to the next level.

To be fair, the writing was sort of on the wall that he would be successful. NDSU just has higher expectations for football than UND. Bohl had back-to-back 10-1 seasons in ‘06 and ‘07.

Bubba hasn’t produced anything close to resembling that degree of success. closest thing would be a 9-3 season in 2016, which included a blown 24-7 playoff game lead, and then a follow up 3-8 season in 2017.

He still is let go in 2010 if they don’t sneak into the playoffs.  Honestly their success that season was due to their offseason work and player development, which should be the starting discussion tomorrow regardless of any coaching or player changes.

I’m with you. We’ve all been disappointed at times but I’d like to see some appreciation for a staff and team that went 7-3 vs FCS teams with the 2nd toughest SOS

This team and coaching staff are better than some want to give them credit for.  Yes we have some deficiencies but we also have some real strengths we can take advantage of.  Despite being called soft, our OL play and running backs have proven they can be physical and set up some nice things.  We just can’t get down out of the gates to make any game planning obsolete and become one dimensional.

Other than the fact that AD’s with teams in the discussion have to leave the room you are 100% correct in your blaming of UND getting screwed and NDSU getting the #3 seed.

In case you aren’t following along, NDSU lost by 2 to the #1 seed and by a FG to an FBS team that just beat the #9 team in the country and lost by a score to the #10 team in the country. Oh, and they kicked the s%#t out of Montana State in the championship last year.

    Quality losses……..

No one ln either the east coast or BSC are going to do any favors for the MVFC.

6-5 Western Illinois getting in with “quality losses” vs a team with an FBS quality win.

I sure hope the team plays with more of a chip on their shoulder due to the controversy of Weber getting the home game.  At some point the football team has to say screw it, the world's against us (I'm exaggerating) and go win a big game to "prove we belong."  If we don't do it this week, will we ever??  The only people who can change the narrative that seems to be plaguing this program, are the coaches and players.  No better time to start changing that narrative than this week.

    Well stated.

Gut says we get in based on a few FCS experts saying so.

    11:30 selection show?  A new season begins.....Hopefully....

It will be interesting to see where we are placed.  Hoping to be in the Alerus next Saturday.

“One of the toughest FCS schedules” is inflated by #1 SDSU being on it. Losing at SIU is looking more and more like a bad loss and the loss at FBS disaster Nebraska is certainly not anything to brag about.

Beat NDSU and all is forgiven.

How was your original post misinterpreted??
