If the students who already have the tickets and are there don't want to stay why do you think students that currently only come for tailgating or don't come at all will want to stay? I can't provide much insight because I love football and as a student in the D2 era I stayed for the whole game even when we were winning by 40. Only once did I leave early and that was because I had to go to work. Students today just have so many other options of things to do with their time. Spending five hours a Saturday at the Alerus for tailgating and football is just not going to win out for a majority of them.

You do realize that literally every college football team in the country has this problem, right? Send the picture all you want I can guarantee the Alerus and athletic department is already aware of it. You can't force the students to stay. Just be glad they are there. I can think if more than one B10 school where the students roll in during the second quarter and leave during the third.

I will be there Friday night and hope to see lots of UND goals!

I am playing the second game of Sioux Survivor... I quit years ago because everyone I picked didn't score. If we have issues scoring tonight I will quit again Also hopefully the ice is better being two days post concert

So what's the bigger issue: conditioning or recruiting? Are these freak injuries? Are they working too hard in spring camp and fall preseason practice and getting injuries from being overworked? Or are the players showing up on campus unprepared and out of shape? Or is the recruiting just this bad? You can blame Muss for leaving a shell of a team all you want, but if you can't even recruit to the point that your second and third stringers aren't high school ability then you need to look at your recruiting tatics. If you know your thin, recruit players who ARE ready to play, not projects that need to develop. Thought our paying all the athletes was supposed to be a recruiting tool...

But they aren't on the field. You need a next man up mentality and clearly we don't have that. Recruiting clearly needs work. I do not know a ton about other college football teams but the Green Bay Packers are on their third running back, started offensive lineman that last week was on some other team's practice squad, and a special teams member who worked in a consignment store a few days ago. People are playing positions that they typically don't, you just have to step up. Injuries happen but you can't just roll over and give up.

This isn't an airplane... You can't just oversell the seats. Student tickets are not currently standing room only tickets therefore you can only sell how many seats are available. Now if you wanted to create standing room only tickets for the catwalks then go for it, but that is a completely separate thing. Your issue is with student tickets not being used, not not being scanned (meaning the student was at the game but their ticket wasn't scanned). You can't force anyone to go to the game instead of just tailgating. Just like you can't force them to stay past halftime or the third quarter. Just hope the team keeps doing well and the problem will solve itself.
