You're much closer to the situation: mine was just speculation that an amiable separation could occur doubling the autobids and allowing for interlocking schedules between the "conferences". I just have to believe that UMD, SCSU, MSUM, Winona, and CSP would prefer as many games as possible between themselves. A 16 team conference just makes travel and rivalries difficult.

Enjoy the 2009-10 Season Fighting Sioux fans!

JFR: Are you moving to North Dakota, too?! Seems New Jersey is in an uproar about Corzine's comments to the New Jersey's unemployed to move to North Dakota! Corzine firestorm -
Since Fox College Sports will be televising the championship game and now has a relationship with Sioux Men's basketball, perhaps that played into the autobid. With Utah Valley having lost most of it's experience, USD and then UND will be the favorites. Next year, perhaps the Great West tournament can be in GF (and on Fox College Sports). Regardless, the Fox connection can only help the upward progress and fan interest in UND men's basketbal.

Perhaps a general rule might be, if a sport has shown that it can attract more than 500 fans, it should have it's own forum.

Can someone please explain how the media somehow validates individuals such as these, who are at the rally,

Stating the obvious, the SBoHE doubly messed up with the October 1st date considering that Sept 30th is the SR council vote and also the week of UND Homecoming. The SBoHE cannot extend the deadline until after the SR vote, as extending it before would be considered tampering with the election. Effectively, Wednesday night if Murphy is elected, he has to request that the deadline be extended. Always thought saving the nickname would take a prayer of a last-second long shot: might come true.

SFA has been a mediocre team in the past. This year SFA has stepped it up. SFA totally dominated SMU offensively in the opener. SMU just barely won, and that was because SFA threw five interceptions. UND had to gain an edge on turnovers and special teams to win the game: we didn't. SFA vs SMU
-
The defensive weakness is the linebacking, not the secondary. SFA receivers danced around the linebackers all evening and ran against them at will. With the depth and speed of SFA's receivers and RBs, and the lack of athletic ability of our LB corps, UND's secondary had no chance because they are expected to plug every hole. Up until the past few seasons, the athleticism of the linebacking corps was a solid. Now, it's even suspect at the DII level.

Bamba is fast, but even he doesn't have the moves that the SFA receivers (and RB) have.

For the first time ever, UND starts a season with three on the road. Three road trips, one to West Texas, one to East Texas, and the other to NW La. One of those games was bound to have UND with less than a stellar performance. SFA beat WIll on the road and was competitive against SMU. SFA is good, maybe not great. That said, the arm tackling was ridiculous. Not wrapping anyone up. And UND has yet to show running game. The lack of a running game is more of a concern than anything.
-
USD doesn't have anywhere near the weapons that SFA has. SFA's three wide receivers are exceptional for FCS. SFA has dominated the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense: that's the fundamental problem for UND.

No way did Minot State and Sioux Falls move up to D2 without already having informal talks. "Formal" talks are now ongoing. Morningside hasn't started a move back to D2, so it doesn't meet the NSIC's timetable. After the NSIC accepted the four NCC schools, they agreed to stay as a unit until like 2013. Don't be surprised if the NSIC splits and a NCC is reborn, with the Minnesota schools and Augustana staying together. UMD, SCSU, Mankato, CSP etc would rather just have short trips with more gate against local rivals than Minot St, Wayne St, Mary etc. Schools like Dickinson St, Black Hills St., UNK might then join the western half and possibly Morningside going to the eastern half.

6-5 One home loss to Cal Poly and 3 away losses at SFA, UC-Davis, and UCA In a building year, anything more would be outstanding.

A Look at things to come A series with South Alabama may be in the mix. They move up to FBS in 2013. South Alabama needs home games next year (only has one home and four road games so far). A UND-USA weekend either Nov 20 or Nov 27th at Ladd-Peebles would be perfect as a sort of bowl game for the Sioux. Then USA could return the game in 2011 or 2012. On the night of his election, SR Chairman-elect Murphy requests the SBoHE to extend the deadline.

Until proven otherwise, defense reign. (TTU, Houston and 3 defensive touchdowns for Grambling aren't proper indications.) UND 17 NSU 9

You're projecting your greatest fear for your dear great leader. Chapman won't lose his job over this: he's far too sly. One or more of his cabinet will get stabbed in the back so they fall on a sword instead. Chapman is no mere mortal. He runs the SBoHE.

For the third time, the cost of the NDSU president's house has moved up again. The cost is now $1.8 million, double the original estimate. Seems like there are some rather P.O. peeps on the board and in the legislature. Board chastises NDSU for costs relating to house

Could a UND - Hawaii game be back on for 2011? Hawaii hasn't yet scheduled a FCS school that season. Washington State dropped this game "citing uncertainty in Pac-10 scheduling for the 2011 season". Wash St pulls out of 2011 Hawaii game On second thought, maybe we should schedule Washington State?
