With the announcement of the $225 million, 159 MWatt wind project near Langdon (http://www.businessweek.com/) Blair Henry and Tom Clifford's goal announced three years ago of generating 2000 MWatts from the Pembina Escarpement takes its first major step toward reality. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this deal is that Minnkota Power agreed to be a partner (Blair Henry had publicly blasted Minnkota for their non-interest in the past). Perhaps if a few more ND communities could take a few lessons from Langdon ([url="http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/index.cfm?id=32786

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/sto...p-4541304c.html Canad Inns appears to be moving forward on the grandest project yet: There has been speculation of later expanding the Alerus/Canad Inn complex to include a wellness center and shopping. Appears they may incorporate those ideas directly into the St. Boniface development, which is not dependent on the stadium being built:

This Forum editorial cartoon exalting Walaker as a hero probably didn't help smooth things over with the legislature.
-
There was at least one rather scathing editorial from Minot about Walaker. The behavior of Chapman, Paulsen, Walaker are only further antagonizing much of central and western ND against eastern ND and more specifically Fargo, Cass County, and NDSU. Although UND's leadership seemingly is not viewed as antagonistically, the whole situation is not exactly beneficial to the university system. http://www.minotdailynews.com/editorials/a...?articleID=9775

Wow. Could there actually be a Bison fan who understands why, from a strategic standpoint, USD would have a strong preference for the MidCon and UND would prefer the BSC? If the MidCon is 'never 'ready for UND because of 'core' membership issues, does that mean NDSU/SDSU are in perpetuity in the MidCon? Seriously, though, NDSU in the MoValley in 2-5 years? You're not serious are you? NDSU would need several NCAA tourney bids, a sparkling new arena (the BSA definitely wouldn't do), SDSU would be a competitor (no "pairs" deal on that at all) before it would ever conceivably happen. Just because of Frost, SDSU could actually be preferred right now. If you are refering to the MoValley as a IA football league, a IA league can have IA associate members to meet the eight team requirement. Prime example: both Florida Atlantic and Louisiana-Monroe were associate members of the SunBelt in IA football until later obtaining full membership. If the Sunbelt was a prime basketball conference, ULM and possibly FAU would still be associate members. If the MoValley wanted to go IA in football, there would be takers from the MAC (like No Ill, W Mich, Toledo, and Miami O) in return for full membership, as those school could then drastically improve their basketball standing.

Dakota Student: UND Club LAX Takes Another Shot If UND started a DI lacrosse team, have to believe that there would be at least 20 non-recruited walk-on candidates enrolling annually at UND from out-of-state. With DI LAX schools predominantly private, the relative low tuition of UND would give allow a DI option for prospective western or midwestern middle class lax athletes.

Against Kearney, UND coaches proved they are capable of making game-time adjustments. Against FGCU, the adjustment didn't work, as FGCU kept shooting insanely for the first few minutes of the second half. In a rematch, I would like UND's chances. With one loss and out, the tournament is nothing more than a crap shoot. Yesterday's Winona State loss was probably even more disappointing for their fans than UND's bad game loss was for ours. For next year, I still like UND's chances.

IMHO, there are a number of very wealthy backers who would "do all it could" to defend the logo. The issue is much bigger than the logo.

Couldn't agree more. The 1996-1999 teams, from a historical perspective, set a standard no team can possibly live up to. It also seems the strength of the some teams within DII has caught up to the North Central Conference. Are we becoming like Kentucky fans, where no coach and nothing less than a championship can possibly satisfy them? Although defense has a lot to do with shooting percentage, in the first half, FGCU shot 67% from 3-point range and 68% from the field. FGCU's Chelsea Dermyer, who had a 5 ppg average going into the game, shot 88% for the game and 100% from 3-point range. In the first half, FGCU's starters missed a total of five shots. No team can expect to win with the opponent shooting the lights out for like that.

Auburn swimming is a machine with its 5th straight championship: 1. Auburn 566 2. Stanford 397 3. Arizona 371 4. Florida 321 5. Texas 296 6. Northwestern 221 7. Michigan 207 8. California 176 9. Southern California 145 10. Minnesota 131 It would be quite an accomplishment for any mid-major individual swimmer to gain a point at the DI championships. Only nine non-BCS type schools scored any points in the men's championships. Even most of these have swimming traditions. 18. Southern Methodist 58 20. Hawaii 41 26. Brigham Young 23 25. California-Irvine 32 30. Yale 13.5 33. California-Santa Barbara 11 34. Harvard 6 35. Oakland 3.5 37. George Mason 2

One of the most difficult aspects of DI is keeping a good coach in BB or FB when even mid-majors are paying $400,000 a year. It almost becomes a Catch-22 situation - it takes too long for a quality coach to build a up a program to the point where the program can afford to pay more to keep him. I have to wonder if the window of opportunity for a new Fargo basketball arena has now passed by? Without Miles to rally around, the Bison program is more risky as an arena "investment."

Why so sensitive? It's not like your the laundry guy.

So you think Glas will apply for the NDSU job, legend334?

Anything is possible I guess. But, Western Illinois' rivalries are with Ill St and S Ill in football (in the Gateway). Western would have to jettison that for a much weaker OVC brand of football. Eastern Illinois, by far the weakest of the Illinois directionals, doesn't necessarily excite Western. West Ill would be on the far NW fringe of the OVC, which is centered in Tennessee, while the Gateway and MidCon are centered in Illinois. SIUe offers the promise of holding the MidCon tournament in St. Louis. In the Ohio Valley, SIUe would also be at the geographic fringed. The OVC would be looking for a football school, so NKU and SIUe are not their top picks, but they are possible. East Tennessee State is looking at restarting football, so will likely need to move out of the Atlantic Sun.

UNO Lefty: This site is unfortunately infested with NDSU fans disguising themselves as malcontent UND fans.

Based on the events remaining and best times, looks like Drury will be almost impossible to catch. http://www.starswimming.org/results/NCAAII/index.htm 1. Drury University 314 2. University Of North Dakota 257 3. Wayne State University 180 4. University of Missouri Rolla 155

The Sioux offense will have more offensive weapons than ever, but the QB spot is open. Defense has a number or holes to fill. The PSU football program seems have made great strides over the past few years. What's your take on Glanville's hiring? We also have some interest in obtaining Big Sky membership. Care to comment on the discussion in this thread? http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8057

Our esteemed Bison guests, who are otherwise so freely prognosticate about UND leadership, seem strangely silent here.
