No one can be certain but I'm of the opinion that when we lost Eades we lost the guy that could be intense and fire up a team - and effectively call them on it when they were standing around. Not so sure we have that now.
-
Carle's team didn't take the first 10 minutes of the 3rd off in a regional game they were winning so there's that.
-
But ...... culture. Watching them disappear at the start of the 3rd in last year's regionals was unbelievable - not the culture we want
-
Well Simon is nothing if not consistent.
-
For all his coaching experience Bubba has some huge blind spots and is stubborn enough to keep them. Not giving the back-up QB reps has been one. The insistence to hanging on to the 3-4 defense is another. Not giving Kaminski reps could come back to bite us big time - either in a game this season where we need him or after the season in the transfer portal.

This is exactly my point. As for Chaves addressing the issues at the end of the season - this has led to two extensions before his contract was up. That is my point. Clearly Chaves thinks Bubba is the way to go - as for the specific game vs the Bison - Bubba has given us exactly what he has shown throughout his career at UND for road games. I know Chaves didn't play - but he has Bubba's entire body of work to look at and clearly he thinks this is fine. I don't think anyone (except maybe Chaves) is surprised that Bubba and Co. laid an egg again Saturday. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Bubba clearly is not going to change and apparently neither is Chaves.

I'm pretty sure Chaves has no hot seat. -
But hey - If the Bison ever go back to the option we'll be ready
-
Bubba will always be Bubba - he is incapable of change - this is squarely on Chaves.
-
Bubba's gonna Bubba - he is hardwired - this is totally on Chaves.
-
Why isn't there more pressure on Chaves to demand excellence in our programs?
-
Yes - absolutely no chance for meaningful minutes - and for those slamming Feeney - he would have burned a year of eligibility to watch this crapfest from the sidelines and battle Jerry to see who would chart plays. Vintage Bubbal
-
Are we ever on the road?
-
It's not on Feeney - Bubba would have him burn a year of eligibility and give him no meaningful minutes - I'll bet Romfo stays in all game.
-
I see the "wrap up on your tackles" talk at halftime was really effective.
-
I see Bubba decided to go with his traditional road game prep and game plan.

Not sure how giving the back-up 1 kneel down snap in 4 non-conference games is working hard to prepare every QB.. Very short-sighted.
-
Wow - a lot of pushback from my post - No, I didn't watch the QB competition in camp. No, I'm not saying Romfo didn't win the starter's job in pre-season. What I am saying is that we have had 4 non-conference games and his highly recruited back-up has played exactly 1 snap - a kneel down - this after the other highly recruited QB saw the writing on the wall and is transferring. And after watching Romfo pass for 11 yards with 2 picks in the first half he didn't get a sniff. That, in my opinion, is extremely short sighted and sends a poor message to our back-ups. Vintage stubborn Bubba though. We will soon get into some games where short-arming simple outs and swing passes will cost us and no one else has any game experience. Not great roster management. And much of Romfo's running success is due to our great O line play.
-
First half - 11 yards passing with 2 interceptions
-
I'm still concerned about how we are handling the QB situation. Romfo certainly did better the second half but the first half was brutal. So far he has thrown some of the worst passes I have seen from our quarterbacks in a long time. After the first half we had 11 yards passing with a couple of interceptions and it's early in the season - and most of them were short gimmes. Given Bubba's history the back-ups must have realized that there is no way they are going to get a shot this year. A potential recipe for trouble.

2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

My point is that Denver is developing good goalies who have peaked at the right time - we are continually in the portal for a one year fix. With Karl (who is a great goalie coach) on staff I have no idea why this is continually happening. A young prospect should be able to be sold on having a solid team in front of him, a great goalie coach, our facilities, and our great tradition. I hate it that other teams - especially Denver - are having tourney success and here we are. -

In my opinion we had talent equal to Denver last year - in addition to peaking too early and losing intensity once again I think that the Goalie stability of Denver for the last few years has been the difference. While we need a portal goalie almost every year Denver has recruited talent and developed them. No question in my mind that a hot goalie was the difference for Denver - especially in the tourney where they faced several teams with a lot of firepower. The final game was the cap in their season and the goalie was lights out. -
Once again I think Bubba's stubborn refusal to give a talented back-up quarterback any significant playing time is going to bite us = if not this year then the next.
-
I'd love to see this but in this atmosphere it just ain't happening. What I'd like to happen even more is for the AD to ask Bubba that question.
-
Agreed these individual incidents are on the player - however the special teams coach is in charge of recruiting and coaching his players and so in a way responsible for how they perform. His recruits, his coaching.
