Very impressed with the ladies tonight against a very unorthodox team. The only fault was our really having trouble getting defensive rebounds - we weren't blocking out well but Sac St got a lot of rebounds simply due to their quickness. I have watched BB for many years and I don't remember a team ever having more offensive rebounds than defensive boards. Sac St. has 18 ORs and 15 DRs.

That could happen anytime between now and June (when school is out).
-
I am in Vegas and have some $ on EWU covering a 3 point spread so I hope it happens for a couple of reasons - mostly that it would give us a one game lead on both teams!
-
I think he was quoted that he expects to be the first guard off the bench next year. That said, I don't know if he is opposed to redshirting if asked to do so.
-
Jones has had his back against the wall the last 3-4 years - we just didn't pull the plug. Had it not been for the budget crunch, he would have been gone after last season.
-
It's not the employees, it's the company! And this company doesn't work for UND!
-
SU also asks for feedback (not sure if they do so every year but they do it often) from current students regarding any new women's sports that could/should be added. Every time they do so, there is no compelling interest in adding sports. This apparently also helps their position with the NCAA/Title IX.

You are correct - scholarship $, facilities and the number of women vs men participating (regardless of being on scholarship) are the three factors. If you are OK with two out of these three, you won't have any problems!
-
The cost of running a women's game isn't dramatically different than a guy's so it is definitely a money loser. As pointed out earlier, the other major factor is that women's games take up so much of the calendar that could be used for other events.
-
While they are politically correct enough not to take a public position on this, the folks running the Ralph would prefer that women's hockey disappeared.

Huge win - in past years, there is no way we would have hung in there to win a game like that!!! -

I don't know why they can't simply tell him not to shoot! -

I agree - we could use some help up front. Would like better production rather than simply "counting fouls to give". With two of them being seniors next year, it would be good to have some good young 4-5 position talent join the team soon.
-
It probably was a factor but it sure would have been good for Walters (and the program) if he would have used a redshirt year to gain strength and weight. Similar situation as last year, it would have been beneficial for Collins to have another year to mature/develop.

A quick update on Brew's recruits for next year: Julia Fleecs, 6'2", F, Glidden, IA (16-3) Averaging 21+ ppg with 9.3 rebounds, shooting 60% from the field. She apparently runs very well - could contribute next year Melissa Leek, 6'5", C, Portage, WI (9-8) Averaging 10-12 ppg, probably a "project" that hopefully will contribute in a couple of years Akealy Moton, 6', F, West Fargo (11-3) Averaging 23 ppg with 8 rebounds while leading team in assists. Very versatile and very physical. I think she will be a great player for us. Mikayla Reinke, 5'8", G, Kindred (19-0) No. 2 in Class B Poll I don't have any stats on her but she is an excellent all around athlete with a winning attitude. I have no idea how that translates into contributing to our ladies' BB team. Fleecs and Moton should be great additions to the team. With some attrition, I don't know if we have any scholarship $ available but I sure wish we could find some ball handling and three point shooting help at the guard position.
-
The three November signings are putting up some impressive numbers thus far this season: Tray Buchanon, United Township HS (22-4) - East Moline, IL Averaging 21 ppg, leading team in assists and steals Garrett Franken, Atlantic HS (12-5) - Atlantic, IA Averaging 24.4 ppg with 9.2 rebounds/game.. Shooting 50% from the floor, 38% on three's Aanen Moody, Dickinson HS (15-1) Averaging 32.5 while leading team in assists and steals Great scoring from these guys (all guards/wings). I don't think we have any scholarships available (right now, at least) but I sure wish we could find a talented big man to bring in for next season.

SWSioux - your previews are very good. Thanks for taking the time to do them! This should be a very good game. We really need our bigs to play disciplined and stay out of foul trouble!
-
It would appear that Thomas Tews was also offered as he tweeted that he was honored to have an opportunity.

Win or lose - a lot of undisciplined play again today!! -
It shouldn't have any bearing on his coaching status.
