  1. UND won the first of 2 at Wisconsin today, 4-2. The second game is 2-2 in the 6th. Listening to it on Badger website.
  2. Understandably, SU has delayed the start of their spring practice due to the flood. When does UND's spring ball begin? Do we know if anyone has left the program (or joined) since the start of the second semester?
  3. I am somewhat surprised that NDSU over the last 2-3 years wasn't able to convince a good big man and/or power forward to join this very talented group of players. With some inside strength and offense, they would have really been good. Moorman, coming off the bench, could have been very effective! SU fans - don't get excited, my comments were not meant to negative - just an observation! You should be very proud!
  4. NDSU, their fans and the State of North Dakota should be very proud of the Bison's performance today! Believe me, that is diffficult for me to admit but it is fact!
  5. I believe you are correct. My thoughts are that someone is either leaving the program or potentially losing their scholarship!
  6. I know it has been said that every player on the current roster has a full scholarship but I find it difficult to believe that everyone would still be on a full-ride next year. Hopefully, they will all turn out to be DI players but I have my doubts!
  7. It was noted under Future Recruit that Shyla Kuehl had a very good senior season. Another girl that will likely be relied on a great deal next year is Brittany Peterson from Spencer, IA. The 5'10" guard was first team All-State in Iowa's second largest division. She averaged 19 points/game, about 90% on FTs, over 600 career assists. Her team lost by one point in the first game of the 3A tourney and finished the season at 21-4. It appears that she is very talented! Of course, Nicole Smart's season is still going. Ada-Borup is hoping for a second straight state champiosnhip. Smart is averaging 20+ points - I would think she will be an asset for us in the future as well. I don't know much about Rothfusz or Houdek - hopefully, they will also be contributors.
  8. Shyla Kuehl, from Hustisford, is 6'3" and was just named to the WS Division 4 All-State team. Her team lost in the semi's of the Regional and finished at 17-6. Five of those losses were by three points or less. Division 4 is the smallest school classification but she appearently is the real deal - lots of very positive press about her. She averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds despite double and triple coverage all year. She is also a talented soccer player so she must be a good athlete.
  9. What kind of attendance is the Force drawing?
  10. That's a lot of work - we appreciate your doing this!
  11. I will echo the many other comments from Sioux fans. Congrats to the Bison - best of luck in the pairings and the Dance! I am impressed with your players - they are obviously quite talented but also a bunch of classy kids!
  12. Good point - that should have been Reason No. 5!
  13. You make a very good point - a point that probably should have been No. 4: Where do we get these $? The same costs that a school considering to travel to UND would incur is incurred by UND each time we travel out of our area. With the increased cost of travel, more scholarships, the scholarships costing more each year, the lousy economy which will adversely affect donations, UND doesn't have a bunch of $ available. Just look at the schedules for all of our teams - we are spending a ton on travel that we didn't have to spend in the past. When you consider recruiting, you have the same challenge as so many of our athletes are now from out of the area. It is very costly to travel to watch them compete, travel to recruit them and then bring in a bunch of them for campus visits when you know many of them will commit somewhere else. DI is VERY expensive. Any $ we get from guarantees, etc. isn't excess that can easily be spent elsewhere.

  15. 1) It is difficult and expensive to fly 50-60 people (players, coaches, etc.) to Grand Forks 2) GF is not perceived as being a great destination spot by players or fans. They would much rather travel to mountains, the ocean, a big city, etc. than to the plains of ND 3) Very importantly, UND is always good so there is a good chance they will lose This all means that good teams who have an option to play elsewhere (somewhere less costly to travel to, more appealing to visit and where they have a decent chance of winning), will go elsewhere. Other than putting together some home-and-homes, we will continue to have this problem until they get into a conference. Bottom line - the biggest problem is geography!
  16. You make a good point, I bet that is who he was talking about. As she hadn't signed, he can't mention her name. She must be getting scholarship $ though.
  17. I would guess you are correct about Sharkova but it would be surprising to me that a "very capable point guard" at the DI level wouldn't have a scholarship offer from someone. I hope that is fact!
  18. Unfortunately, I am not sure if any of them are good alternatives. Not that they won't be good players but they certainly would have little experience.
  19. We certainly hope he is good. If he is anything like his dad, he will be a competitor! See post #17 of this thread.
  20. I noticed that a few days ago - I wonder what that means? You will notice this he is listed in the box score of last night's game but I am sure that was an error. I would guess it should have been Mathison.

    PICK'EM

    Duncan (Genoway)
  22. Does that mean that he has not been able to practice with the team?
  23. Thanks for the insight - I hope we can get him!
  24. Per Wayne's blog.... "A lack of depth is getting to be a big concern for the UND women's basketball team. Sioux junior Whitney Ledger went down with a knee injury in practice Tuesday. It's too early to tell how serious the injury is." Not good!!!!!
  25. ABSOLUTELY!!!!
