That's a lot of work - we appreciate your doing this!

I will echo the many other comments from Sioux fans. Congrats to the Bison - best of luck in the pairings and the Dance! I am impressed with your players - they are obviously quite talented but also a bunch of classy kids!

Good point - that should have been Reason No. 5!

You make a very good point - a point that probably should have been No. 4: Where do we get these $? The same costs that a school considering to travel to UND would incur is incurred by UND each time we travel out of our area. With the increased cost of travel, more scholarships, the scholarships costing more each year, the lousy economy which will adversely affect donations, UND doesn't have a bunch of $ available. Just look at the schedules for all of our teams - we are spending a ton on travel that we didn't have to spend in the past. When you consider recruiting, you have the same challenge as so many of our athletes are now from out of the area. It is very costly to travel to watch them compete, travel to recruit them and then bring in a bunch of them for campus visits when you know many of them will commit somewhere else. DI is VERY expensive. Any $ we get from guarantees, etc. isn't excess that can easily be spent elsewhere.

1) It is difficult and expensive to fly 50-60 people (players, coaches, etc.) to Grand Forks 2) GF is not perceived as being a great destination spot by players or fans. They would much rather travel to mountains, the ocean, a big city, etc. than to the plains of ND 3) Very importantly, UND is always good so there is a good chance they will lose This all means that good teams who have an option to play elsewhere (somewhere less costly to travel to, more appealing to visit and where they have a decent chance of winning), will go elsewhere. Other than putting together some home-and-homes, we will continue to have this problem until they get into a conference. Bottom line - the biggest problem is geography!

You make a good point, I bet that is who he was talking about. As she hadn't signed, he can't mention her name. She must be getting scholarship $ though.
-
I would guess you are correct about Sharkova but it would be surprising to me that a "very capable point guard" at the DI level wouldn't have a scholarship offer from someone. I hope that is fact!
-
Unfortunately, I am not sure if any of them are good alternatives. Not that they won't be good players but they certainly would have little experience.
-
We certainly hope he is good. If he is anything like his dad, he will be a competitor! See post #17 of this thread.

I noticed that a few days ago - I wonder what that means? You will notice this he is listed in the box score of last night's game but I am sure that was an error. I would guess it should have been Mathison.
-
Does that mean that he has not been able to practice with the team?
-
Thanks for the insight - I hope we can get him!

Per Wayne's blog.... "A lack of depth is getting to be a big concern for the UND women's basketball team. Sioux junior Whitney Ledger went down with a knee injury in practice Tuesday. It's too early to tell how serious the injury is." Not good!!!!!
-
ABSOLUTELY!!!!

If there was one individual most responsible for making UND an outstanding university, it was Tom Clifford! What a classy, dedicated and genuine man!
-
I appreciate your frank comments and couldn't agree with you more!
-
Unfortunately, that sounds like it is the end of her playing days! Sad deal!
-
UND played pretty darn well - the announcers were quite complimentary. Maybe this will help our confidence and success the rest of the year!
-
Two straight 3's by A&M, 43-33!

I happen to be in Dallas tonight on business and was pleasantly surprised that the game is being televised locally! The Sioux have played pretty well so far!
-
Has anyone seen the redshirt freshmen practice? They are to have a lot of talent - curious if anyone can give us any insight! I understand the freshmen are making great progress in the weightroom. In fact, they are setting records - not records for freshmen BB players but for the program. Obviously, that is good as we need to upgrade our size and muscle to compete at the DI level!
-
Well said - that is my understanding of the situation as well! I know the coaching staff was confused and hurt by some of the comments he made as he left! I also congratulate SDSU on a big win!
-
I agree - very well said!
