Just how many Indians think 'Redskins' is a slur?

Frazier did say that Freeman will not play this weekend. Not enough time to get up to speed. I'd have to think that Cassel will get the nod this Sunday, and then go from there. I'm guessing they brought Freeman in to see what he can do as the starter, not to back anyone up. The only thing that could put a wrench in that is if Cassel plays exceptionally well this weekend. If Cassel lights it up, then there's a decision on whether to give him the reigns the following weekend as well, however if he's so/so then you let Freeman have a shot at it. Whether Ponder is injured or not, I'm guessing he's the 3rd stringer from here on out, and then gone after this season. What a mess.

Latest updates and observations. Patrick Roy being Patrick Roy George Parros concussion - this is sure to spark the fighting debate Phil Kessel gets paid after deciding he's going to choose hockey over baseball - or can he do both at the same time? Schneider gets the nod over Brodeur in the Devils opener Thoughts? Anything else to add to this?

1. To compare Thomas's chop on Burrows to what Kessel did is laughable. 2. When a player chops at a goalie, who are protected and should pretty much be untouchable, I have no problem with a goalie chopping back. Maybe you decided to ignore what Burrows did to bring that on. 3. You're trying to make this into a Bruin thing because I'm a Bruin fan and thinking that I'll defend the Bruins at all costs. If it was Brad Marchand who wound up on John Scott like that I would expect that he also would get a longer/tougher suspension. In fact, if you look at past posts I think you could find 1 or 2 where I didn't agree with something that a Bruin may have done. 4. Also, if it was Marty Brodeur, Jonathan Quick, Corey Crawford, etc. who did what Tim Thomas did I would also be saying the same thing as #1 and #2 above.

I'm assuming they counted the run, even though Gomez never touched home plate?

Breaking News - this just in...DaveK is back and he's as big a DOLT as ever! #1 - If the Maple Leafs have an issue with John Scott going after Kessel, they may want to have a conversation with Jamie Devane about going after a smaller player, and let him know what the repercussions of that may be. #2 - Ron Rolston (Sabres coach) got fined for "player selection and team conduct" from this incident. Lets go over the facts - John Scott was on the ice for the first fight (Jamie Devane vs Corey Tropp). Rolston did not send Scott on the ice after that fight. Again, he was already on the ice. Furthermore, the Maple Leafs were the home team with the last line change. Why the hell would Randy Carlysle send Kessel out after that? Can anyone please explain to me why Rolston would get fined here? So now the NHL is going to tell each team who they can and can't put on the ice and in what situations? I think the lesson here is that Brendan Shanahan is out of control and has no rationale for the punishments he levies out. #3 - Please read #2 - Randy Carlysle sent Kessel's line out after the first fight. John Scott was on the ice for the first fight and remained on the ice for the next shift. Randy Carlysle is an idiot for doing so and has noone else to blame. #4 - Apparently Phil Kessel believes that it's OK to take a homerun chop at an opposing player. Not only did he give John Scott a couple of hacks, but also just 6 days earlier he was involved in 2 stick swinging incidents against Philadelphia. He chops Luke Schenn TWICE and also Ben Holmstrom TWICE (starting at 0:45 of this video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71La4p97Tcw So let's count - that makes 6 tomahawk chops on 3 different opponents in the span of 2 games (6 days apart), along with 1 spear. What a F'ing joker. And he gets suspended for 3 preseason games?
-
Kessel suspended the remainder of the preseason - 3 games. Kessel suspended three preseason games for slashing

Ron Rolston, Sabres coach, has been fined. No other fines/suspensions that I've seen yet. Rolston fined for Sabres' altercation with Maple Leafs

I mentioned that in my initial post. At the time he spears him, Scott is tied up with a lineseman and also with Clarkson.
-
I think you're confusing Buffalo and Boston. Buffalo was nowhere near making the playoffs last year. Boston defeated Toronto in the first round of the playoffs.

Just saw this from a preseason game on Sunday. Toronto vs Buffalo, and one of Toronto's "tough guy" (Jamie Devane - 6'5", 217 lbs) goes after Corey Tropp (6'0", 185 lbs) from Buffalo after Tropp scored a goal to pull within 1 goal of the Leafs and make it 4-3 - and he damages him pretty good. After that, John Scott (6'8", 270 lbs) from Buffalo goes after Phil Kessel (6'0", 202 lbs) - tit for tat. Gotta love how the pu**y Kessel responds. A couple of baseball swings with his stick to Scott's legs, then he spears him later by the benches after the fights have ended and Scott is tied up with Clarkson and a ref. Granted, he would have gotten destroyed by Scott, but that move is a vintage Slap Shot move - there's no way anyone should be swinging sticks like that, for any reason. If Kessel has a problem with that, he may want to take that up with his teammate, Devane. Also, I love how the announcers say "Give Kessel credit, he hasn't backed down....". I see Clarkson got a 10 game suspension for leaving the bench. So far that's the only suspension I've seen out of this. If Kessel doesn't get anything for the homerun swing, well...I wouldn't know what to say. But if Shanahan's handing out the suspensions, I guess there's no rhyme or reason to what he may get (or not get) so you never know - maybe he won't get anything.

I put this in the UND Nickname forum, but wanted to also put it here. I figured MafiaMan would have something to say! Actually, this is a very interesting article. I dunno, maybe I shouldn't be picking at old wounds... Have the people spoken?

Wow, I'm surprised that Lucia would say this: As a coach/adult/professional, wouldn't you normally just leave it at "He has left the program due to personal reasons" and move on? Nothing like dragging the kid's dirty laundry out in public, Donny!
-
Have they made this official? The latest I heard was that they were using them in training camps and preseason games and they could be approved for use in the regular season, but from this article he makes it sound like they are using these during the regular season.

Way. Too. Many. I like the idea of the outdoor game, but I'm talking 1 - maybe 2 - each year.

@TSNBobMcKenzie CGY will also gives kids Sean Monahan, Max Reinhart, Markus Granlund and Corban Knight long looks at C but may only be room for 1, maybe 2.
