  4. Thank you...on my sheet I had Ovechkin down twice for sioux rube instead of Oshie, so I didn't have Oshie's point...fixed now.

  6. OK...I put it in as 0, but I'll adjust it back to the 'correct' number (1) and on the official daily standings that go out, we'll have to put a big * by SFF's total. Is the official ruling that SFF has to find a new defenseman in place of Shattenkirk, or does SFF only get 3 D?
  7. @The Sicatoka...can we get a ruling on this?
  8. Holy smokes! How large of a staff do you need for a basketball team?! 15 players and 11 coaches, trainers, doctors, equipment managers, video coordinators, water bottle fillers, towel holders, court sweepers....am I missing any?
  9. It looks like we ended up with 9 entries this year. After Day 1 (please double-check your score): 5 - Engineer 4 - The Sicatoka 3 - Shawn-O 2 - KoolGuy2K 2 - 90siouxfan 1 - sioux rube 1 - stoneySIOUX 0 - George M. Bluth 0 - Ray77
  10. WEST Chicago over Nashville in 5 Minnesota over St. Louis in 6 Anaheim over Calgary in 5 Edmonton over San Jose in 7 EAST NY Rangers over Montreal in 7 Boston over Ottawa in 6 Washington over Toronto in 5 Pittsburgh over Columbus in 6
  11. I know The Sicatoka started the Playoffs Game, but I wanted to start a thread to just talk playoff hockey, starting with this...potential Sioux to get their name etched on the Stanley Cup. Chicago Blackhawks - Jonathan Toews and Nick Schmaltz Minnesota Wild - Zach Parise St. Lous Blues - Jordan Schmaltz Edmonton Oilers - Drake Caggulia San Jose Sharks - Aaron Dell Boston Bruins - Drew Stafford and Zane McIntyre Washington Capitals - TJ Oshie and Taylor Chorney Pittsburgh Penguins - Carter Rowney Am I missing anyone? If this is the comprehensive list, there are 11 former Sioux in the running, on 8 of the 16 teams that made the playoffs. Quite impressive!
  12. HA...well, I haven't heard anything specific about what they're going to do regarding the 'interim' tag for Cassidy, but I really don't think anything they'd do would surprise me. I'm not sure that I'm all that confident in Sweeney and Neely in the front office.
  13. What do we have so far? Vancouver - Willie Desjardins Florida - Tom Rowe LA - Darryl Sutter Dallas - Lindy Ruff Am I missing any? I've heard that Paul Maurice may be on shaky ground in Winnipeg as well.
  14. Backstrom Ovechkin Getzlaf Perry Kane Panarin Keith Shattenkirk Fowler Carlson
  15. As teams are coming in I'm getting the scoresheet all tidied up. I see this year you axed the goalie?
  16. I hate to beat a dead horse, but this came up over the weekend and I couldn't help think about the Sioux's offsides reversal vs. BU. I don't remember what game it was in, or even what period (I'm searching on YouTube to try and find it), and I'm going to add some dramatic effect to this story. Here goes (my version)... Team A is down by a goal in the championship game and has their goalie pulled. They're rushing up the ice and bring the puck in the zone with around 1:00 left in the 3rd period and have sustained pressure in the zone the rest of the game. The play at the blue line looked close to offsides...and that team did not score, so the game ends with Team A losing by a goal...or did they? Imagine if that team had the puck in the zone the last minute of the period, put on pressure, but didn't score and then they called the ref over to get a review of the offsides and it was determined that yes, they were. So they go back to that point in time and replay the final minute...Team A scores to tie it up and to OT we go! I'm not 100% sure of who/what/when/where can call for a review of an offsides, but does it seem that far-fetched that this could happen? Maybe an offsides can only be reviewed in the context of a goal being scored (and that's probably the case)...if so, then my whole scenario above is moot. But really, imagine if you were Duluth this past weekend and in the Championship this had happened...and your coaches on the bench watched the play at the blue line and believed that they were offsides. Wouldn't it make sense to try and have the refs review the play at the line and get 1:00 back on the clock? I guess what I'm trying to say, as many others have already said, is that the review process seems like a shitshow at best, and could use some tweaking.
  17. There won't be any suspensions, I don't think. No way would an owner suspend an Olympic caliber player once he returned. And I don't think the league could suspend them for leaving, could they? I know the NHL is not "participating" in the Olympics, but I'd be interested to see if they'd be able to suspend a player if they went. Think of this example...if Drew Stafford's wife is giving birth to twins and he leaves the Bruins for a few days to be with her, he'd work that out with his team (the Bruins management), not the league. The NHL wouldn't (and couldn't) suspend him for leaving for a few days to be with his wife. Could they suspend Ovechkin for leaving for 2 weeks to play for Russia in the Olympics? I guess maybe they could, but I'm doubtful. My guess is that would be between Ovechkin and Ted Leonsis, not Ovechkin and the league. All I can see that will happen is the player would not be paid for the time away from the team (like a fine) and they'll have to pay their own insurance, travel, etc.
  18. My guess is because it would have been that linesman who would have made the offsides call, which is why he was the one reviewing it in the penalty box (I think at first one of the refs was reviewing it with him, and then he let the linesman have a better look and he stepped back). So once he determined (in his mind, I guess) that it should have been called offsides, he's the one to come out of the box and make that call.
  19. NHL will not participate in 2018 Olympics
  20. You are correct...3 years around that dollar figure. However, I think Tucker's age played into this.
