  1. Ooph...Freudian slip, or was that on purpose?!
  2. Another top notch site: CapFriendly Out here you can click the "Draft your Vegas team" at the top of the page. Here it will go through each NHL team and show the players who meet or are projected to meet the exposure requirements. Check out Pittsburgh!
  3. Rules for 2017 Expansion Draft This is a great read. If I'm understanding it correctly, Fleury now HAS to be protected by the Pens. It reads "* All players who have currently effective and continuing "No Movement" clauses at the time of the Expansion Draft (and who to decline to waive such clauses) must be protected (and will be counted toward their club's applicable protection limits)." As Fleury has a NMC, I believe that'll mean that the have to protect him. If so, they messed up - unless they work some sort of deal between now and the draft. I could also be interpreting this incorrectly, too. Regarding Stafford - you're right, there's no way the Bruins protect him. However, they can only protect either seven forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender OR eight skaters (forwards/defensemen) and one goaltender, so there will be several players from each team that are exposed (I think). Add to that the fact that Stafford will be a UFA after this year, so he's not under contract for 2017-18, so he won't qualify for the Bruins player exposure requirements. Man, this stuff is fascinating to me, and I think this is going to be really fun trying to predict what teams are going to do and then to see how Vegas puts together their team! Great topic!
  4. Sucks? SUCKS??? This is GREAT news, MafiaMan! He's been having a down year (40GP, 4G, 9A) so I hope this is the spark that he needed and could be a great fit. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of his season goes in Boston, and as a UFA this year, if this gets him going and where he'll sign next year.
  5. http://www.ndhsaanow.com/tournaments/icehockey-boys I haven't found anything about a stream yet, since the games will be on TV...but I'd guess you might be able to stream it again just like yesterday? It was here yesterday: http://www.wday.com/live-video
  6. You are correct. Old time hockey!
  7. 5 in Fargo - 6 if you count the Angels Arena (old SunMart Arena) - Coliseum, Teamsters, South High, 2 at Southwest 2 at Scheels Arena (main rink and Farmer's Union) 2 at WF high school
  8. UnFnbelievable.
  9. Reading this thread is interesting. For some perspective, I remember watching the Sioux play UMD in the HoF game in 1988. That game was played in Eveleth, MN, the home of the US Hockey Hall of Fame. I'd guess there were several hundreds of people there! OK...maybe a thousand or so...
  10. I have to admit...this made me laugh!
  11. And I believe Hitchcock was 1 game away from tying Al Arbour for third place in all time coaching wins.
  12. That would have been funny.
  13. I don't know about you, but I'd go even a step further with your Big Ten positivity...100% of the Big Ten teams are in the top 47 in PWR!
  14. DaveK logic 101: The Fighting Sioux have 7 National Championships and the Fighting Hawks have 1. How could you say they have 8, when the Fighting Hawks didn't exist for the first 7, and the Fighting Sioux were gone for the last one. The Big10 has 23 National Championships to their name.
  15. Thank you!
  16. Gotcha. Makes sense why the Bruins then signed Khudobin to a 2 year deal. Although they've since waived him and he's now buried in the minors, so it looks like Zane might be the goalie they make available - unless he falls in the "All first- and second-year professionals, as well as all unsigned draft choices, will be exempt from selection (and will not be counted toward their club's applicable protection limits" category. In that case, I have no idea how they'll handle this - maybe they'll have to recall Khudobin before the end of the season? Man, this is interesting and will get fun once it comes time for this expansion draft!
  17. I agree with you. To add to this, Price has a no trade clause, which means he's automatically protected, and each team gets to protect 1 goalie anyways, so there is no chance that Price would be left for Vegas to poach him, whether or not they signed Montoya or not.
  18. This is a great discussion! Here is how I understand it (and certainly could be wrong about some of this). Vegas has to take 1 player from each team and must take at least 14 forwards, 9 defensemen and 3 goaltenders. At least 20 of these players must be under contract for the 2017-18 season. With their picks, they have to get to at least 60% of the Salary Cap. Players that are not eligible to be taken by Vegas are players who are first and second-year professionals, as well as all unsigned draft choices. By my understanding, AHL players under contract would be eligible to be taken, however due to the rules I think it's pretty slim chance that Vegas would take a player from the AHL.
  19. Here where, if my understanding is correct, Pittsburgh may be screwed. Fleury has a Modified No Trade Clause, which I think means they have to protect him. If so, since he's a protected goalie I don't believe they'd be able to protect 2 goales. Unless Murray falls under this category: * All first- and second-year professionals, as well as all unsigned draft choices, will be exempt from selection (and will not be counted toward their club's applicable protection limits). This is a GREAT read, if you're looking to understand the upcoming expansion draft - Rules for 2017 Expansion Draft. This upcoming June 17 - 20 when teams have to submit their lists and the Vegas franchise chooses their players is going to be fantastic to watch this all unfold! If someone can figure out a way to do some kind of Fantasy game where we can project who the Vegas team will take I'd be in! I'm not sure what that would look like or how you'd do it, especially since there will be such a short timeframe from when teams submit their lists and when Vegas chooses their players. But this would be fun!
  20. OK...I'll bite. You're really reaching here to save face on your Marc-Andre Fleury love-fest. I could really care less, but let's take a look at the numbers: This year: Fleury in 27 GP has a .904 save percentage and a 3.23 GAA Murray in 21 GP has a .916 save percentage and a 2.53 GAA Career: Fleury has a .912 save percentage and a 2.58 GAA Murray has a .921 save percentage and a 2.32 GAA By the age of 22 (which Murray is now). This would have been Fleury's first 3 season with Pitt (Murray's 2nd): Fleury has a 900 save percentage and a 3.24 GAA Murray (same as Career numbers above) has a Murray has a .921 save percentage and a 2.32 GAA Playoffs: Fleury has a .906 save percentage and a 2.66 GAA Murray has a .911 save percentage and a 2.08 GAA Stanley Cups: Fleury has 2 (one with Murray as the starter) and won his first one at the age of 24 Murray has 1 which was won at the age of 21 After the tale of the tape here, I don't know Dave. You can have your favorite goalie out of the two for your own reasons - there's nothing wrong with that, but to say they need to end the "Murray experiment" and that he's an AHL caliber goalie, etc. is a bit crazy, even by your standards - and that's saying something!
  21. I'm not so sure. This hit wasn't given a suspension, and Shaw is a serial offender.
  22. Also, keep in mind that while they're 5th in the league in points, they have: 3 games in hand over the 4th team 4 games in hand over the 3rd team 1 game in had over the 2nd team 0 games in hand over the 1st team They're also tied with Pittsburgh and the NY Rangers in points, but have 1 and 2 games in hand over those two teams, respectively.
