Speaking of...because they were selling the Canadian jerseys on eBay, I decided to see what other Jonathan Toews stuff there was on eBay. Check this out. Notice anything? I noticed 2 glaring issues with this.
  2. Toews's jersey is currently the 7th highest ($1375) and Commodore's is 12th ($800): Rick Nash - $2650 Cam Ward - $2325 Shane Doan - $1875 Matthew Lombardi - $1791 Dion Phaneuf - $1766 Eric Staal - $1500 Jonathan Toews - $1375 Jordan Staal - $1225 Nobody else is over $1000.
  3. I could be wrong, but I believe that UAA pays for much (if not all) of the travel expenses for teams to go up there. If that is the case, your theory on draining WCHA budgets is out the window. I am not 100% sure on this...anyone else know? EDIT: I found a site where it says: The expansion would continue, with the addition of Alaska-Anchorage in 1993. UAA's membership further reinforced the mold of the WCHA as a "plane" league, although UAA's membership was contingent on helping to pay for teams to come visit the Seawolves. Now what percentage that is, I have no idea.
  4. I'll bet you the NHL'ers on the team are ribbing him about that one! "Hey Toews, you think you're playing with the big boys now and you can play without a helmet?!"
  5. It looks like Nash's goal and Toews assist was on the powerplay.
  6. Yeah, it may be tough, but isn't that what you play for? I still haven't ruled out the possibility that he comes back...although he sure could go and fit in. I think this tournament may be the deciding factor. Let's hope that he's still putting a lot of stock into what his buddies at UND are saying, and that Oshie, Chorney, etc. are in his ear to come back and win #8.
  7. He's coached or help coach my nephew's hockey team as well...my dad has watched some of the practices and says that Finely is absolutely GREAT with the kids...has fun and works with them, unlike their real coaches who are goofoffs.

VERY harsh...I'd say excessive. I know several people who have gotten multiple minors and have never served 1 day in jail.
  10. I thought that they had scored, too. From what the announcers said, if the ref thought the play was dead and was going to blow the whistle but the puck goes into the net before the whistle is actually blown, it's still not a goal.
  11. I posted this in another thread but can't find it: NHL Draft Day Basics A player not signed by his NHL team within two years of being drafted can re-enter the draft, as long as he is 20 years old or younger at the time of the subsequent draft. Players over 20 become unrestricted free agents. NCAA players are an exception: NHL teams retain the rights to a college player until 30 days after the player has left college.
  12. That will never happen in the NHL.
  13. The tournament is in Moscow, Russia from April 27 - May 13. The NHL hardly gets televised here, so good luck finding it on TV!

NorthDakotaHockey...that was a pretty harsh response to FightingSue. You're going to owe Fighting Sue an apology after Lee's gone this year...because he will most likely be leaving!

    FSSN

I had read earlier on a different thread that Qwest was now a sponsor of UND hockey and since Qwest has a deal with DirecTV that next year the FSSN will be on DirecTV...was that all a bunch of BS?

This wouldn't really matter for Toews anyways. He couldn't just stay at UND another year and then re-enter the draft if he didn't like the fact that Chicago has his rights. A player not signed by his NHL team within two years of being drafted can re-enter the draft, as long as he is 20 years old or younger at the time of the subsequent draft. 18. Duh...I knew that...sorry. I guess watching that high school footage made my brain go numb. Thanks!

Maybe you should just quit being a cheap wuss and buy tickets and drive each weekend!
  20. Not sure if you'll find a true "bracket" for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, because after each round the teams are reorganized according to what seed the remaining teams are.
  21. I hope he goes and plays Junior before coming to UND! Looks like he could use a year of seasoning/maturing.

Who is hoping he'll be an arrogant prick? If he stays at UND 1 more year, does that mean he's an arrogant prick? If he doesn't go to the Blackhawks this year, it's not because he'll be holding out to go to another team. It's because he wants 1 more year to develop, 1 more year to play with his buddies, and 1 more shot at a National Championship. He'll end up in Chicago whether it's this year or next.
  23. As much as I believe Toews will be gone, this may not be so unrealistic. In your scenario, you mention if Chicago drafts the Russian kid and cannot get him over here...but even if they do get him here, Toews may decide to wait as it could be tougher to make the big club (although he would fit in). Also, if they draft Pat Kane, maybe Kane goes and Toews waits a year. There just seems to be something with how close-knit this team and these guys are. As I said before, I think Toews is gone, although I hope he stays, and Bernie Burgraff also had said that he'd be surprised if he leaves after his conversations with Toews. From Dumb and Dumber: Lloyd: What are the chances of a guy like you and a college like the Sioux... staying together for 1 more year? Jonny T: Well, that's pretty difficult to say. Lloyd: Hit me with it! I've come a long way to see you, Jonny. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances? Jonny T: Not good. Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred? Jonny T: I'd say more like one out of a million. [pause] Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance!
